This is insane!!! I fell in love with screenwriting when I first watched the short, it pushed me to pursue my career as a screenwriter and now seeing the short become a feature is absolutely incredible. So happy for you Will!
If only we had more nationwide independent cinemas you could distribute this to who'd screen it, though it's probably not as simple as that I guess. "Genuinely an accident... but she swung first..." glad you kept that in 🤣
Excellent stuff, i watched your original short film The Fence a few years back. And today in 2024 i enjoyed the full length Feature Film version being broadcasted to me on Film Four. Shows you it's getting through if nothing else, brilliant film and well done.
Went and watched this last night and well pleased👍Excellent piece of work, good on you Will. Especially liked seeing the 465 outside the Sartan Club, But I would say that wouldn’t I😂😂 as I still got mine😀
Please tell me this is going to come to America, the short was amazing, you guys nailed the time period. Spot on, and the photography and every aspect was on point. BIG UPS. I will buy this if you can let me somehow, when it is the right time.
Watched this today over Avonmeads' Showcase not knowing anything about it, was surprised to see parts of Bristol! Love the way it was filmed, definitely has an 80's feel. Lots of funny moments that had me in stitches
Watched this the other night and loved it. Acting, script and story are so good. Id love there to be second movie to build on all the interesting characters like Gibsy. If you haven't seen it watch it 👌👏👏👏👏
Looking good. It's a pity Andy wan't able to play the big brother this time as he was spot on in the role in the short. Eugene is a good actor so I'm sure he's done the part justice :) Hopefully Showcase feature this at their other locations and/or Indie film theatres pick it up so more folk can get to see it.
When I first watched the short film I wondered if it was made in the 80s. It's so period correct and stylish. Lead actor is great, like a young Terry Hall. Looking forward to watching the full feature length version
@@TheFilmGraduates you guys did a great job, no way in a million years I would’ve thought there would be a film based in hartcliffe …well good one atleast
on the same course as you guys, on the final year of the film production and cinematography course. seeing this trailer there's something really bittersweet about watching it. Sweet on the one hand as its inspiring to see if you guys can make a film that looks this good then so can I. bitter because from this trailer it looks like a high bar to clear. can't wait to see this tomorrow. congratulations guys
Written by a Friend The Fence (A Review) I went to the cinema last night. No small feat for someone whose faith in, well, everything, has been shattered, not least by the art of filmmaking which had sustained me in my youth when there was little else at hand. “Well, do you fancy it?” asked my friend, hesitantly. I’d walked out of seventy percent of the films we’d been to together and was touched by his optimism. “Set in Bristol, in the 80’s?” I spat. “Yeah.” “You know I hate nostalgia.” “Yep.” “It’s highly unlikely to be any good, but if I see a mustard Austin Princess it’ll be worth it.” My friend had been obsessed with trial bikes in the 80s and the blurb had his buy in, so he picked me up in his van and off we went to the Scott Cinema, Henleaze. The place was two thirds full. We tried to miss the ads, but the usher had misinformed us and we caught five of the fuckers, plus three trailers. All dreadful and played at ear splitting volume. A woman two seats along was getting stuck into a bottle of wine she’d bought all for herself, and the blokes behind us were eating popcorn as though it were a contest. I stuck my fingers in my ears and closed my eyes. I knew I was making my companion edgy, but I couldn’t help it. Then the volume adjusted to something less than GBH and we were off. The coming together of organised things (making a feature film) in a manner that comes off as thoroughly easy is an exquisite thing. There’s not even any point discussing the plot. Saying “the sun rose this morning” does the miracle a disservice. The Fence unravels like a natural phenomenon and whenever I thought “Oh God, here we go” a cliché was averted. Each saga stung because it was so brief. Angry people didn’t clench their teeth, sad people didn’t wail, poor people didn’t beg, broken people made others laugh, gangsters were sympathetic, and drug dealers snitched. So much happened because so much does happen. Our daily lives are packed with content, but we miss it because we’re too busy looking for the big event. The filmmaker says the film was inspired by his father’s anecdotes. What a marvel he has made of them.
This looks so good!!! I've been watching your channel for a few years now and it's amazing to see how far you've developed your style and voice. I especially love the shot of Andrew about 44 seconds in, and the rest of the night scenes lit by street lamps. They look fantastic. What camera and lenses you shoot this on?
Also wanted to say, the fact you've made it this far is really inspiring. I recently got myself a Lumix S5 and I've got some mini-films (about 2-3 minutes each) in the works that I'll post on my channel very soon! I've got a fan-made Aphex Twin music video that I'd love to hear your opinion on. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see this when I get the opportunity.

Hey Curtis, Original Andy Knight speaking. As the director and producer, I just has too much on my plate to do it justice this time around. I promise the new lad did a cracking job 👍
@@TheFilmGraduates Hi mate, thanks for responding. I completely understand! You just did such a good job playing the character that’s all. Very excited for the film. I loved the original.
This trailer feels eerily like someone stole an actual chapter out of my life, around 1983-84, can't remember the exact year but some of the details are uncannily accurate. P.S. nobody punched out an old lady in my story though, just want to make that clear lol.
HAHA! Well it's 'mostly' based on real stories from real people who grew up on estates in the 70's and 80's so we're not surprised! Give us a review if you watch it!

I really enjoyed this film. It sort of reminded me of that film young offenders and/or the angel's share.
This was a pleasure to work on! Was so much fun making the music for this trailer
The short film is one of my faves ever. Probably the best thing I’ve ever stumbled upon on RUclips. So hyped for this new one!!
Hartcliffe born and bred, so I cant wait to see this...they finally got it in our local cinema (Hengrove Cineworld).
This has the potential to be big

I wish the accent wasn't so over the top in thing's set in bristol, very few people actually sound like that.
Compared to real Knowle West/Hartcliffe '80s broad Bristolian, this is actually pretty tame.
Agreed. About as convincingly Bristolian as The Archers on Radio 4
As for the wack on gran you would have the full brunt of knowle west on your case and chasing you like a pack of dogs lol
Get yourself up to the hartcliffe inn an gives proper stories
Not sure it really improves on the excellent short film that spawned it ?
You'll have to find out
