I think that the makeup consumer has become SO much more savvy that these makeup brands, that jumped on the inflation bandwagon, are regretting it now. Inflation IS real, but makeup does NOT compare to buying eggs at an inflated price. ALMOST no one has the disposable income to bother with paying inflated prices for makeup. Especially when the drugstore is killing it these days.
The black girlies in Atlanta, Houston, DC, Philly, and LA love a good neutral brown eyeshadow. I never get clients asking me for any sort of sparkle or shimmer. They all want a soft glam brown eye with a brown lipliner and clear gloss. Flawless base. So yes I will be buying that Huda palette for my work collection.
Man if they had the old formula in there, like from the MetalMattes palette or those chrome singles from back in the day, I'd be all over it. Those metallics were bomb💣
@@SophieeeeeeHO I don’t have any other KVD shadows but the mattes in the palette are super buttery and smooth, and the blue shimmer is very pigmented but not very shimmery, a very dull sheen.
Actually, after taking it out and swatching it again, the blue shade is more like a “sequin” shade. It’s a matte dark blue with blue glitter particles in it, but the glitter particles are so fine that the overall effect is a shimmer, albeit a dull shimmer 💁🏻♀️ #themoreyouknow
I have the Sephora storage that you mentioned first. I use it for everyday products... Mostly skin care. It looks cute on countertop and keeps everything tidy.
I bought something similar. We got a puppy, and she thinks my makeup is her chew toys. After she ate 3 brushes---I ordered this. Cheaper than replacing all my brushes!! Now if I could break her from eating my lip products....talk about panning things fast!
I actually think an all matte palette is pretty smart since single sparkly shadows are popular right now. A basic matte palette could be a good companion to those trendy singles. But the specific Huda palette that is on sale is a little too warm for my tastes.
The Huda all matte palettes have their "cream to matte" formula which I've heard isn't everyone's favorite. So I suppose too it would come down to if you like that. I do love an all matte palette to pair with shimmers, especially since not just singles are popular, but all special shade palettes are too.
Agreed! I have the Huda cool matte palette and grabbed the warm one when it was on sale. I rarely do an all-matte eye look, but I have so many glittery and shimmery singles that the matte palettes work really well for me in conjunction with other things.
I feel like mattes are such a cornerstone of my look with one singular shimmer. I reach for my Hindash and ND Biba palettes every single day over my the Glam, Metropolis, Retro, and Gold that all have such awesome shimmers. I just stick a topper like UD Space Cowboy or a Terra Moons shadow and call it a day. I think mattes are also super in demand with women over 30; I find my already hooded lids enjoying matte looks instead of shimmers as I get older.
Definitely agree. My everyday go-to is Biba or (Vieve Essentials) maybe plus a topper of some sort. Might not be the most groundbreaking approach, but it sure does the trick at 7am before I go to work.
Yes! Mattes are a cornerstone in my collection too. I've never had a very large collection, but last year I decluttered all of my palettes as they were very old. And my first few palette replacements that I got were all matte ones by both Viseart (Neutral and Dark) and Blend Bunny (Blends). I only have a few other palettes that are now a mix of shimmers and mattes, but I really have noticed that I only dip into them for their shimmers. Lol.
I got one of those makeup organizers recently. It is pretty large! It fits most of my makeup collection, except for my palettes. My collection is not minimalist per se, but it's also not large anymore.
I personally love an all matte palette. I find it to be a staple product and then I change my looks up with my single shadows, I usually only buy singles in sparkly exciting shades so I need a good matte base to work with along side them. Especially works great for travel, it keeps my packing minimal but looks flexible .
I love this series of yours!! I’ve seen the Too Faced pinker times ahead palette at TJ Maxx so I wouldn’t be surprised to see the highlighter there either!!
Hi Lauren! The Sephora sale section used to get me sooo bad. But lately things just haven’t been as good. The Farmacy serum looks awesome and I’m super tempted. I feel like every time a goodie lands on the page, I click, and it’s sold out!! I think the best sale item I ever got was the Natasha Denona Diamond Glow Palette in Darya. I regretted it for a year but then I finally found the right brush to apply the diamond glow powder… totally changed everything.
I hate that they make you click before finding out it’s sold out. So customer unfriendly to the point of being manipulative. Waste of our time. It makes me less inclined to shop there.
I love these videos 😍 this is confirmation that I’m making the right decisions with cleaning out my wishlist every few months because if I didn’t I would have impulse bought a few things on sale
Ugh, Modern Renaissance, the memories. I dont even like eyeshadow and I have that pallette as a part of my makeup collection. We acted a fool when that came out; it was the first product I was influenced to buy and I think it was Kathleen Lights that made me want it.
Ooo sheer black & sheer gray-purple balms are my JAM! Here are my suggestions so you can channel Wednesday Addams: Givenchy rose perfecto balm in Black Pink, Givenchy Rouge Interdit in Noir Revelateur, LH Cosmetics fantastick in Ametrine, Melt gloss in As If, Colourpop gloss in Boys Will Love Me (hocus pocus collection) Jeffree Star gloss in 6 Feet Under. More muted-purple toned: Elf heart core balm in Ecstatic, Colourpop so glassy in San Clemente, Nars afterglow balm in Wicked Ways, Pat McGrath lip fetish balm in Dark Romance, Bobbi Brown Bare Blackberry. Colors like this tend to get discontinued pretty quickly, which has caused me to collect them aggressively.
YES I've been aggressively on the hunt for these for awhile as well. Rituel de Fille recently had a trial launch of some glosses including a black but it is not sheer enough for my tastes. Elf also has a Cookies & Dream gloss but not sure if still available. MAC is coming out with a black balm soon, I think next month.
All matte palettes are great if you have mature skin or texture on your eyelid, shimmers can look scale like on skin like that, so beauty lovers how are now in their late 30s and up might really appreciate an all matte palette, specially for $16
Ulta did 15%off all makeup this weekend and I got the nude mac palette, nars under eye brightener and the new urban Decay blush in wrecked. I love all 3! Letting go of some makeup I've had for a few years and only buying the things I know I'll get use out of.😊
My most used palette in my entire collection is my Viseart Grand Pro 1x palette. It is an all matte palette with a variety of shades. I use it by itself or coupled with a shimmer/cream shadow. It also works for my brows in a pinch.
If you're in the market for a sheer black lip product, you can just mix any clear gloss with a little bit of a black pigment (eye paint, liquid lipstick, eyeshadow, etc.)! I've done it, and it works spectacularly
One of my favourite series to watch 🎉🎉 I rarely get FOMO now, the only limited edition palettes I check out now are the Beauty Bay 20 pan ones as they are genuinely interesting colour stories, anything else??- I can dupe it with singles. I rarely make purchases at launch now, I give myself a few weeks to let the reviews roll in and then my excitement has ebbed and 9/10 I'm over it 😂
@@pinkbubblesnake I missed the book of magic one too, absolutely gutted about it, it looked SO pretty. I got the Wilderness and Age of Opulence on a discount and got the Dark Fantasy palette in their recent mystery box.
The rms blushes are beautiful I have the pink French rose and maidens blush which is one of my all time favorite blushes. They have a glow but don't emphasize texture.
I have that Sephora organizer. I got it for my skincare. It's large enough to hold all my "in use" skincare. The plastic feels and sounds very thin, though. It has held up so far, but it's only been a few weeks 🖤
Lauren, I used a slightly tinted gloss I got as a gift with purchase and added a little black shadow I scraped off, mixed it as best I could, just to *see* what it might look like if I spent on a black gloss. LOVE it! Try it out! 😇
I picked up the cool toned all matte palette by Huda. I am viewing it as an extension of Rose Quartz which is my favorite eyeshadow palette. It is also hard to find those cool toned purple ish shades that are actually done well
I love all-matte shadows for work because my sparklies can be a bit much in the office 😂 I already have the Dior pink-berry palette so I don't need the Huda one but it's a lovely new option!
I ordered the Huda matte palettes so I could get my birthday gift. I never do all matte looks, but they go really well with a Colourpop Super Shock Shadow glitter look.
I have the first item you showed! The spaceship beauty organizer. I got mine from Temu because it was even cheaper than Amazon (I paid a few dollars more than the sale price here!). They're all the same. Temu has a few colors other than white too. I love mine. It's great for my in-use skincare and I use the drawers for little things like sheet masks and small tools and perfume samples I'm panning. I keep mine on my vanity in my bedroom, but if I had the bathroom space, I'd keep it there. It's one of my favorite things.
I think it's all about preference. I love an all matte pallette bc mattes are what make a pallette to me. I won't buy an all shimmer pallette. I don't like to pull out multiple pallettes for one look and that's what I have to do with a all shimmer or shimmer heavy pallette. Especially if it's not BGF
lauren!!! you talking about the jelly lip balm made me think of an asian beauty trend for "syrup" lip colours that are super glossy and tinted. seems up your alley, especially new chinese brands like Flortte or Flower Knows
I love the Youth The People Dream Mask. Someone recommended it so I got it during the big Sephora sale, and it has not disappointed. I feel like my skin has been looking much better when I use it consistently, and it lasts quite a while as I don't use it every night.
I want that Sephora storage thing because it looks like the perfect size that I could just the stuff I’m currently using (skincare and makeup) and keep it handy in one place.
I bought both of the Huda matte palettes to go in my sparkly single eye shadow drawer. I now use my singles way more and these palettes are surprisingly good. Wish I got them 1/2 off though!
I use an art bin for most everything except palettes, and Alex drawers for palettes and art supplies. Makeup brushes sit next to art brushes in cups on top. To me makeup is a creative hobby, so it's with the art things.
The rms blushes are so good ! I ordered a couple of the Sephora organizers after watching a few shorts 😅hopefully they’re nice like they seem ! Pinker times ahead is really pretty and better then most other ones ❤
I'm pretty sure there's three versions of that ciate dewy blush on boxy/ipsy for like $7-8? 😂 & you're right melt just had their whole site 50% off last week & I picked up two of the bad side palettes 🙃
All-matte palettes might not be trendy, but it’s useful for some of us who work in an office environment with a certain dress code. I wouldn’t wear strong pigmented shimmers to work. A small palette is also useful for makeup travel bags. But that’s just me.
I saw one of those retro makeup storage cases at Marshall’s or TJ Maxx. It was a decent size…probably held as much as a large caboodle. But at $30 something, it was more affordable.
I have thought of buying that organizer off of Amazon, but haven't pulled the trigger. They are cute in teal. I probably won't buy it though. I got that Inc. credible lip jelly from Ipsy's drop shop a few years ago and mine was great. I loved it, but ended up tossing it because I had too many lip products and the texture wasn't great for sleeping in. I do like the dewy blushes, except they don't play well with other products in my collection (I wrote this before you said it lol!). Not great for when you have a bad skin day and need to use on top of full coverage foundation. But I kept all three I have in my collection this year. I love how you emphasize being a savvy shopper. You are my influencer hero. OMG the KVD Kitten Quad has been on super sale for what? 4 years? I saw it on Black Friday like two years ago. Agree with the Pat McGrath sales. Got all three of the second Motherships for $120. Not kidding. I Love the Loveliest HUDA palettes way more than the mattes. Its such a cute set and I am a collector and I do tend to collect HUDA's 9 pan palettes... but you got me collecting Oden's Eye. The Renaissance is way lower on Ipsy (it was in the box last month and will appear like a billion times in the drop shop soon).
Hey Lauren Have a few Kossas products and am interested in some of their bundles on their website. However, being "clean" it makes me nervous about buying older products from them. What do you think, since you did mention to watch out for clean beauty sales in this video. TY in advance 😊
I love this series because I hate Sephora’s sale page so much. 🤣 It’s so worthless most of the time. Like why are most items out of stock and literally have been for MONTHS?? Just take the listing down if it’s sold out or at the very least add a label so we can see if something is sold out from the main sale page and don’t waste our time clicking through!
Of course we enjoyed the video, SILLY!! I am so excited to see the new ND release so I'm saving my money for that and can't wait until you get some videos up with it!! So excited 💋💚
Love you girlie. Love your honesty and all your videos. I agree completely with your opinion on this sale. Nothing for me except the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow.
I ended up getting an Iconic London little contour pot with a cream and powder contour. I got that and the Sephora mushroom serum. That one is a rebuy. It’s hydrating enough. I had a $10 off coupon, so both of those came out to $15. I got some perfume samples, a couple 100 point rewards. The rewards I chose were the Dennis Gross pads, I already know they’re amazing. I also chose the mini face steamer. I’m weary about Sephora-brand electronics, but I’ll see how cheaply made it is.
Hello long time subscriber her but I rarely comment but I felt the need to do so because last week I purchased that mini KVD palette for that silver shade too and yes it's really easy to put on mattes are super great easy to blend the silvery it's like a dry putty shade kinda like a ColourPop super shock and just as easy to put it on no dryness no fall out and for nine dollars well it's the easiest coolest look I have achieved on my latest purchases
That KVD palette still says Kat Von D on the label, so it's gotta be from 2020 or older😳 I would buy a Cheek Pop but I already have all the colors I want, plus twenty bucks is hefty for a blush.. you could grab three Milanis instead and get a similar effect!
I haven’t been buying makeup as much as I had been, primarily replacing items like mascara. But Viseart had some things up to 40% off so I got some mini palettes and a bronzer palette from them.
i love these videos bc the sale section is the first thing i look at… so much stuff has been there for ages! eta i wish they’d take off all the OOS Tocca perfumes. i keep getting my hopes up, but then they’re not available. their rollerballs suck anyway (component)
That KVD palette will never die. I feel like it's been on sale for YEARS, and at this point I think it is going to outlive me
🤣🤣🤣 Great comment haha
I've seen it in the sale section for so long that I'm starting to consider buying it just to see what it's like lmao

Lauren, I got the KVD palette like a year ago on sale and the shade you are interested in is a pressed glitter 🤷🏻♀️ so there ya go.
Man if they had the old formula in there, like from the MetalMattes palette or those chrome singles from back in the day, I'd be all over it. Those metallics were bomb💣

You look so fresh and pretty today!!
Edit: not that you don't everyday, just something extra today looks extra glowy and skin perfection!
Hey Lauren
Have a few Kossas products and am interested in some of their bundles on their website.
The pinker times ahead collection is in fact already at tj Maxx and marshalls
Love you girlie. Love your honesty and all your videos. I agree completely with your opinion on this sale. Nothing for me except the Farmacy Honeymoon Glow.
The organizer is pretty big but just awkward to store. Do you like the look of it on a vanity? Then yeah but to me it’s inconvenient and large
2:27 I organize my makeup jars using discarded cardboard boxes from my brother's Amazon orders 🤣🤣🤣. Cheapest organizing ever, LOL!
I always enjoy this series ❤
