Love the plastic egg crate and shot glass idea so much. A close second to the funnel trap method that you created but achieves a greater yield I imagine. Said before we're always in for a treat with a NYG upload and this was no exception for sure. 👍
Great camera work. To get the best survival rate feed them on infusoria for the first week before introducing them to vinegar eels followed by BBS and micro worms. Water parameters are also important especially KH and GH. pH isn’t critical but I aim for 6.7 - 6.8. BTW if you use a flashlight and look into the fry tank when it is dark you’ll see more fry which, like many tetra fry, seem to be more active and hunting for food.
I like this. The funnel flow through method of egg harvesting is cool. Did you use the light diffuser and shot glasses in same breeding tank Oriskany that two separate methods? Which, if two, produced more fry?
Thanks for the video. I have kept fish for many years, but I am trying to find out how to get the parents to start breeding. I have these fish and have wanted to breed them for a long time, they are a favorite fish of mine. From what I can gather from your video you feed the parents baby brine shrimp the night before you want to them to breed and eating that food is what gets them to breed? Are there any water requirements or temperature requirements? I read some people have to use rainwater. Very nice channel!

Thanks for the tips!! I like golden pearls for the first week, the protein content is MUCH higher than infusoria. I feel I can get them to BBS sooner.
I ONLY REALLY LIKE A HAND FULL OF TETRAS AND THESE ARE ONE OF THEM
I need a further build description for that funnel system, super interesting way of collecting the eggs into a separate tank

The screen with the java moss over it produced the most eggs for me

I gave them a steady diet of brine shrimp, for over a week. No I didn't need to change PH or use rain water.
