Would have been Phil Lynotts birthday tomorrow, 32 years without him so thought I'd do a tribute to him with my Top 5 Thin Lizzy guitar solos.
If you found this video useful please give it a thumbs up and leave a comment to let me know. I may get round to more Thin Lizzy in the future so if there is something you'd like to hear me do let me know, thanks! 🎸🎶🍀

@@Lysdexia oooh I love the Black Rose album, good suggestion, yes by all means I'm always up for suggestions, there a nice solo in that one too, I'll add it to my forever growing list ahaa thanks again 😊 🎸 🎶
Yeah I’ve watched a lot of your stuff lately mate, all really good. Love the other Thin Lizzy stuff btw, currently working on the second Cowboy Song solo - what a classic!
Awesome !! Would have loved Got To Give It Up solo one of the best solo of all time!!
Ooooh just had another listen to that album, and I gotta say there are some cool licks in that one, I may give it a go, keep an eye out for more lizzy on my channel! 🤘 🎸 🎶
You are one seriously talented guitarist Andy, you make it look so easy. Hats off man, one of the very best on RUclips. 🫡
Thank you ever so much, really appreciate the kind words, always love playing Thin Lizzy, always just the right amount of notes in the solos, fabulous songs too! This is quite an old video, I have plenty of more recent Thin Lizzy lessons and all sorts on the channel, do have a good watch through, and thanks again for taking the time to comment! 🎸🤘

Amazing tones as always :)
Thanks again Stevie, an old video but still happy with the tone, was simply the les Paul straight into that peavey classic 30, a great combo! 🤘 🎸
Brilliant
Dennis Smith Thanks Dennis, can't beat a bit of Lizzy!

Clean 😮

Mantap "is The Best 👍☝👍indonesia
Thank you ever so much 🎸😎🤘
Excellent.. Would have loved Cold Sweat
Thanks so much Bernie, oooh love that song, John Sykes work is incredible, I'll add it to the list and see if I can pull it off next time I do Thin Lizzy 😊🤘🎸
@@AndyDoveGuitar Thanks can't wait
Fucking brilliant.
wHICH SOLOS DID scott gorham play and witch were brian robertson, gary moore.i love all 3 but never knew who was playing which solo
generally speaking Gorham played melodic solos, like on Dancing in the Moonlight. Robertson and Moore are more "shreddy" or faster in general.
Absolutely outstanding, man
Incidentally, I majorly tightened up how I play the Cowboy Song solos entirely due to your other video about that with the half speed. You absolutely rule, Andy, keep that shit up 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤘🏽🍻
@@ricohgill6523 thanks so much Ricoh, that's so good to hear, always love playing these solos, they are so iconic, and always trickier then they first sound! Glad I've been able to help, thank you so much for watching, I'll do some more Thin Lizzy soon! 🤘😎
@@AndyDoveGuitar they really can be tricky, can't they! I guess it's all about knowing where to be ahead of time so you get really smooth note/shape transitions, which in my mind is the essence of blues playing...there I go telling grandma how to suck eggs 😉
@@ricohgill6523 ahaa not at all, the guitar Journey is a never ending road! But you are absolutely spot on, it's one thing following a tab, but another thing playing the licks with feel and flow! 🎸🤘
@@AndyDoveGuitar too right - it's about learning how to play with your ears, once you've gotten your hands comfortable enough to know what they're doing
Andy. How do you get the double tracked effect? Thanks 🙏
Hi Andy! Brilliant demos and thanks for sharing them with us all. Was wondering what year or custom made model by Gibson is your Les Paul Custom. Most of them are over 9lbs weight which is a bit too heavy for me. Do you happen to know the weight of your one? 🌠🌠🌠🌠🌠👌
Heya thank you ever so much for watching, yes I do, absolutely adore this Les Paul it's a 57 reissue (often called Black Beauty R7) from 1993, it's a heavy guitar at about ten and a half lbs, and a chunky neck too, but I absolutely love it for it. If you'd like to know more, I've actually made a video on my Gibson collection where I talk about each guitar, here's the link if you are interested, see what you think! 🤘ruclips.net/video/J_K8RHXqz5o/видео.htmlsi=Ejgqn_bPQCTjF3CT
great work Andy.Have you ever broken your fingers on John Sykes on This is the One, or Holy War?Also I wonder what you think of John Norum's version Opium Trail.
Funny that you mention both of them at the same time. Imagine a Lizzy cover tour with Sykes and Norum. Both can play whatever and both can even sing very similar to Lynott. Norums Lizzy covers are nothing but amazing.
@@swektmaico yesssir. But I'd like to add Joey to sing the best of final countdown tunes, as well.
should’ve played the proper masons apron, great work though mate👍🏼
Fight or fall
Ya did damn good till ya copped out on the end of Black Rose !
Bro, bigger tab printing Please!
Heya Paul, if you check out my more recent videos I've upgraded the tabbing software, so tabs are much easier to follow now. I've done a fair few Thin Lizzy ones too, so be sure to have a look. If there's anything you can't find from these 5, let me know and I'll aim to redo them! I hope that helps 😎🤘
@@AndyDoveGuitar thanks bro!!
