At this place, Lord Shiva taught Tandu Rishi the Tandava dance Latarambheshwar Mahadev is famous as both because he preached Tandava dance to the people.

हिन्दु धर्मको पौराणीक कथा अनुसार ६४ औं शक्तीपिठ मध्ये एक शिव भगवानको महत्वपूर्ण शिव लिङ्गको धार्मीक स्थल रहेको मानिन्छ। पौराणीक कथा अनुसार यस ठाउँमा माहादेवको पत्नी सत्यदेवीले देह त्याग गरेपछि माहादेवले उनको पार्थीप शरीर लिएर हिड्ने क्रममा उनको जट्टा (टाउकोको कपाल) उक्त स्थानमा पतन भएको कारण यस स्थानको नाम लटारम्भेश्वर माहादेवको नामले चिनिन्छ । साथै हिमवत्खण्डको १०४ अध्यायमा लटारम्भेश्वर भगवान शिवको वर्णन छ। यही स्थानमा भगवान शिवले तण्डु ऋषिलाई ताण्डव नृत्य सिकाएर ताण्डव नृत्य लोकमा प्रचार गर्नुभएको कारणले लटारम्भेश्वर माहादेव अनि दुवै नामले प्रख्यात छ ।
