Real talk she's a great legend. No other Jamaican female sprinter is above her without a doubt. She stole the limelight from all the others. Maybe after she retired some other Jamaicans can make us all proud like Shellyann Frazer Price did. Imagine at 37 she at the peak of her career. Shellyann is a real track and field Super star and legend. Some of us will not admit it because we're bias from head to toes but am 61 years old and what this young lady has done far Jamaica and the world in track and field no other female sprinter is even near her . No disrespect to our other female legends who did extremely well too. Many others will go down in our history but to me Shellyann Frazer Price and Usian Bolt are Bob Marley in Reggae music.

I always said that I thought SAFP was the best because she ran against the best(Carmelita). SAFP will always be one of the greatest to run imo. I'm sure all that has to do with weather conditions, altitudes and peaking at certain times. In the 1968 Olympics Mexico City they had some fast times set in that meet that stood for many years. They claim those fast times were set due to low altitude which made it more easier to breath compared to regular altitude and they didn't get tired as fast.

Not really. Greatness can exist without others, but cannot be understood without others. How we understand greatness is based on relative comparisons. You can only know someone to be great when you measure their output relative to their field. Otherwise, you do not really know what you are looking at. There is a Nigerian saying in pidgin "Pikin wey never reach another person papa farm go say him papa farm big pass". It basically means that if you have only seen your father's farm, you will immediately assume that your father's is the largest. How do you truly know how great SFP is without Flo Jo? Some information here is missing in 2012 felix beat shelly and vcb at doha and not the race they displayed in London. The race in the street of london was in 2014
And in 2013 Shelly Ann take revenge and double up in world champs and tired out Allyson in the 200 meter when she give her a bullet start of the 100 meter to take the win in the 200 meter when Allyson saw Shelly took off like a jet her only choice was to fake injury because right there she knew she couldn't keep up with a bullet start like that

Note she did not "retire" from athletics, just sprinting. 2) Why would FloJo and her team forgo the millions of dollars they could have earned for her appearance fees competing track meets globally, to focus on distances over which she could never be competitive? 3) Why was FloJo never invited to be a commentator covering women's sprinting by any network for the 1992 or 1996 Olympics? FYI, FloJo only competed in the 5K after Seoul and her best finish was 29th.

According to some people they say she has been running 10.7 consistently for 10 years and won more gold medals, championships, etc...... than any other so that's why she is the greatest is what was explained to me. The 10.63 she ran would put her pretty much even with girls who ran 10.61, 10.64 and 10.65 coming across the finish line but somehow she stands out and is greater than those other 3 girls.

Atleast Shelly is still on the scene and doing excellent. Jeter just disappeared as if she was never around.

Why American athletes have faster times in meets than Olympics? Is it that drug testing is less monitored during these meets?
I'm sure all that has to do with weather conditions, altitudes and peaking at certain times. In the 1968 Olympics Mexico City they had some fast times set in that meet that stood for many years. They claim those fast times were set due to low altitude which made it more easier to breath compared to regular altitude and they didn't get tired as fast.

@@tajaun3467 According to sportsshow.net they have a list of the 10 greatest sprinters of all time and Marita Koch was on that list and Felix was not. #1 was SAFP. I don't agree with that list at all as Felix is not on there. Only thing I do agree with is they believe in Koch over Felix.

According to some people they say she has been running 10.7 consistently for 10 years and won more gold medals, championships, etc...... than any other so that's why she is the greatest is what was explained to me. The 10.63 she ran would put her pretty much even with girls who ran 10.61, 10.64 and 10.65 coming across the finish line but somehow she stands out and is greater than those other 3 girls.
