I lost my wife whilst I was on tour in Afghanistan 2012, I was given 2 weeks leave for the funeral then had to return. I am still fighting the demons in order to stay alive for my son and daughter who are now grown up. Please don't give up my friend. I have bought a bike and intend to your trip very soon.

@@RidetheBean Just know that you were "fearfully and wonderfully made".....you are very much loved and Everything in life is temporary. Someday it will seem so far away and you will remember it, but you probably won't experience the same feelings you had then. Just hold on, I hope you and your loved ones will be blessed. For me, God showed up in life, wasn't particularly looking for it ;) He gave me ever lasting hope, joy and support. I wish this for everyone in the world but...that is for every individual to decide. I know that Faith in the North-West part of Europe and Scandinavia isn't particularly common anymore. I can tell you however, if you put your faith in Jesus Christ (Yeah, I know, That guy xD) turn from your sins/old ways, confess with your mouth that He died on the cross for our sins and rose up again, keep our Father's commandments, you Will be saved and have eternal life in our Fathers Kingdom in Total Bliss. Anyway, good luck to ye, stay safe.

My daughter’s husband suicided, she found his body and she was intent on dying as well. All I could do is beg her to stay for me and to see what’s around the corner for her. Years on a wonderful man found her, yes he found her and she is now so very happy. She looks at me and says thank you. I know the hurt, I know.

Hello James. I'm sorry to hear of your loss. If she was suffering from Bipolar then that would explain it. Back in the eighties people didn't talk about their depression because it was still seen as a sign of being crazy. When it's at its worst living seems so painful that she felt that was easier. Why living is so painful is a hard thing to explain. I call it soul-pain. The soul is in pain. That might have been it.
Be well James, but leave the past where it is. It's water that has passed under a bridge.

@De Sign I’m inclined to agree. Like the entire field of psychology isn’t something that can be fully trusted. For a diagnosis, there are no blood tests, no MRI, or scans to show or prove that someone has a mental “disorder.” It relies on a flawed human being, the doctor/psychiatrist, listening to another flawed human being, the patient, to determine what is “wrong” with them. Not only are people dishonest or hide things from one another, as humans we don’t even know why we do the things we do most of the time.

Man, this hits home. My wife lost her battle with cancer March 13th, 2013. We were always together for 30 years. She was the one that took care of everyone else and I was lost without her. I was pretty depressed for 4 years afterwards before I started to come out of it. I immediately retired upon her death as I needed time to think. I got German Shepherd in 2016 and he's my buddy. Always watching me and being my support. I try to help people when they need help and that gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I can't change the world, but maybe I can make it a little better for someone. Life tends to be meaningless without a purpose. Don't be too hard on yourself, Get back up and make it a better place for you and others.

@raykrv6a I have a genetic syndrome.. ehlers-danlos, I'm hypermobile and I also have the deadly vascular version as well. Our past due date is around age 40. In about a month I will be 44.
I need a vascular surgeon so bad. And from where we stand and where we're living right now. There isn't a doctor that I would feel comfortable cutting into me. My area is oblivious to my genetic syndrome.
My mother died of cancer by the age of 50. I've had a knot in my stomach since 2013. She's grown and grown and grown to the point where I can actually feel the pain whenever I take a step with my left foot.
I know my time is limited. It really bothers my husband. And he always says if I die and he's not home with me. He'll really lose it. And I'm like stop it. Without you there is no life. We're so extremely dependent on you working. And if there is any miracle that can get us out of the state that we're in, back to the states that actually can take care of me. Where there is a will there's a way. And if I do die. Don't you dare take it out on your son. Don't you dare take it out on the world. And don't you dare punish yourself. For I will be the wind that caresses your skin and hair. I will be the beauty that your eyes lay sight upon. I will be with you and don't fret. Sometimes we must do things, because things are beyond our reach.
I expressed to him if you were to come home we wouldn't have our health care, if you were to come home. Do you remember the time that we were eating peanut butter sandwiches for solid month. Some say grow a garden. Oh I've done that I'm a master gardener. I'm really good at canning too and preserving food. Thing is I like the DNA to host a specific bacteria that breaks down oxalates. Oxalates are quite deadly to me. Found out my husband can't handle nightshades. And truly a garden, isn't our saving Grace for this family.
My heart aches. I hope I make it to 50. I hope I make it past my son's graduation. Because my husband will blame him for my death. And that's not fair. Our son has Asperger's. He's not like everyone else. Of course he is superiorly intelligent, shocking at how smart he is. But he lacks other skills. He doesn't understand connections unless you tell him out right. He has a heart of gold. And never means to do anything that is harmful. But my husband loves to point the finger and blame him.
Such as doing a chore and taking care of me. But I didn't have a child to do chores. Although he can do them and he does them well. That isn't the basis of my body or my illnesses.
I hope to God he doesn't fall into depression if I die.

Suicide is the only cure for unbearable mental illness. Depression is the only disease in the world that beckons one to kill themselves. There is a deep, organic, evolutionary, biological message there. Possibly, it's natures way of weeding out the weak & sick? I used to think there was a cure for MDD, but after 58 years of unbearable suffering, & exhausting all modalities of treatment, I now realize those inner voices of death are sending me an important message. I have tried suicide many times when I was younger, & now looking back, my only regret is not having succeeded, however I will continue to try & end this suffering. No one wants to die, but given the choice between death and chronic, unbearable suffering, I know which one I choose

not worth living amounts to answering the fundamental question of philosophy. All the rest- whether or not the world has three dimensions, whether the mind has nine or twelve categories-comes afterwards.
These are games; one must first answer. And if it is true, as Nietzsche claims, that a philosopher, to deserve
our respect, must preach by example, you can appreciate the importance of that reply, for it will precede the
definitive act. These are facts the heart can feel; yet they call for careful study before they become clear to
      the intellect."
Albert Camus opens his book 'The myth of Syshipus' like this. May I suggest you read it? It changed my life, simply by shifting my perspective on the meaning of life. Such a sad loss but my message to other young people feeling this way is this , i was kicked out at 14 and became homeless , i travelled about sleeping rough and ended up on heroin as it was the only thing i found could give me some semblance of peace.By 18 i was in prison and in and out untill i was nearing 30. Many times i contemplated ending it and i had more reason than most to do so as i was totally alone in the world but i am a survivor and i refused to be beaten even if it meant an eternity of suffering for me. Anyway to cut a long story short i got clean and slowly re entered society (even though i am still very much alone) and as i got older even though my life is very solitary i found myself becoming happy , infact content is a better word. I have very little but my happiness doesn't come from possessions or relationships , it just comes from being , but wild camping with my dogs delivers some too :D So trust me bad feelings CAN pass , be strong and stick it out its worth it in the end , atleast it was for me.

We grew very close and our relationship turned very intimate and she gave my first sexual experience. Lost my brother April 23 2020 he was 37 years old and we we're very close all our life. The grief is very rough emotionally and I went from denial, anger, sadness, depression, to some sort of acceptance. Took me a year to sort of recover. It's rough and I miss him everyday. I wake up, I think about him. I go to sleep I memorize the things we did and think about him missing him. Still after more than a year it affects my soul.
I had a dream, went back in time to tell my brother he'd die in 20 years at the age of 37. It was an very emotional dream and I woke up with tears falling from my cheeks.
I think I'll never recover 100% from losing him at such a young age. A life incomplete, not deserved, not the norm.

Depression is like a dense fog. You can't see through it and it turns you around. But not being able to see doesn't mean there is nothing there. Suicide robs you of the chance to see the fog clear and reveal the beauty the world offers. And it is a beautiful world. One day you will have a wife and children and you will learn what the meaning of life truly is. Its not about existential concepts of your place in the world and the legacy you leave. That's very egotistical. It's about family and it's about the here and now. How you live the moment for who and what you love. The past is gone and the future doesn't exist yet. Keep the tiller true and ride the storm. It always passes. This I have learned.

    • @The.Doctor.149

Sadly it’s a state of mind, a mental sickness, during which time rational thought processes make no sense or have no bearing. Suicidal ideation can go on for years, my Father spent 3 years preparing our family for what he saw as inevitable - and it was. He made no secret about it, at 53 years of age having been a soldier, then a traffic Bobby, he felt he had nothing left to offer the world except in a passive sense. He didn’t like the thought of ageing, his body was already letting him down. Naively I used to tell him, if things are so bad that suicide is the only answer, then surely they can only get better can’t they? How could they possibly get worse, it made no sense to me, and my words no comfort to him. Aged 56, unable to find suitable work because ageism was thriving, he hung himself. Thirty years later and I’m still trying to work out what we could have done to prevent it, and the sad answer in his case, was nothing at all, it was a ‘when’ not an ‘if’. Counselling was quackery to him, he was quite the philosopher, and the most stubborn man I ever met. He bore a family grudge for almost 40 years! It still feels like yesterday, I still recall our last words, and I still see him in my mind as he was that last evening, as vividly as if it were last night. He made his decision years before the event itself, and to see him tortured by his curable illness, depression, for 3 years was worse than watching someone with cancer fade away and die. It would have been selfish to deny him his right to do as he wished, because depression isn’t the same for everyone, anyone who didn’t know him well would see him as perfectly happy and content. He hated the way that Britain was becoming more like the US every day - back in 1990. He’d have really hated this country had he lived until now, because he’d have grown old as well. I was 20 when he died, but I could have done with him on many occasions since then. 87 he’d have been now, and miserable, it would be selfish to expect him to stick around just to answer a few of life’s little questions. Having said that, anyone with depression should seek professional help, because maybe a tablet or some counselling is all you need - if it doesn’t work well at least you can say you explored all the options, because suicide is *never* the perfect answer, it leaves too many questions unanswered - it gnaws away at the minds of those left behind, like a missing person must do - it doesn’t feel like a natural death, forever it would seem. It’s not euthanasia of a pointless life, from any perspective, it’s fixable, and it’s at its highest rate since records began, but without a direct linear relationship to population, more an algorithm based on the pace and pressures of life - or being taken advantage of by employers with tiny companies demanding annual double-digit growth like a Japanese car plant.

I don’t think the amount of offers changed anything though. She knew she had people who loved her. But she just was not able to share her full self with anyone. Not even herself.
We can all ask ourselves what we could have done differently, but I am not sure it does us any good.
All we can do is accept what happened and do our best to move on. That may seem harsh, but it is the only thing we can do.
I hope you are doing ok May Lise! Please reach out to me if you need anything!

I don't know why this popped up in my recommendations, I have never watched this channel before.
I attempted suicide a week ago by pills and as they were taking effect I chickened out and called for help. I'm still struggling to find the meaning of my life, but the one thing I realised is that by ending your own life, your own problems may end, but everyone else around you suffers.

It was the only way I could move forward & heal. I then had to think about what it was I wanted to achieve in my life, what was my passion. I have now taken that path & am learning to embrace life. I understand this type of loss. We lost our son who died by suicide. We rode together from the time he was 17 and he struggled with depression and anxiety throughout his adolescent years. He gained confidence and joined the military. After spending time in Afghanistan, he came home and struggled with that experience. We did get to ride a couple of times together, but it did not help. I tell you this because he is missed by many, many people. People stood in line for his funeral visitation for hours. Turn to those in your circle and, as you tried with with Pia, be there for one another through good and bad.
