    as someone who does live beatbox sampling, I have to say this video was a game changer for me
    these techniques are great for real time vocal sourced sound design
    thank you for the tutorial, you just saved me sooo much time

    What an amazing method) Thanks for sharing this. Honestly, I try to avoid using synths for anything but basslines. creating something entirely new from samples is much more creative and inspiring than tweaking presets for hours and end up sounding like everyone else.

    That last one was crazy (in a good way). It seems as though with sound design I'm always attempting to create the "right" sound that's in my head. That can be cool at times, but the idea of just discovering a sound without any end goal in mind is a lot more freeing. Great tutorial

      I'm glad you liked that last one! I won't lie, I had to really think about the best way to showcase that last one, haha.
      My favourite part about sound design is just experimenting, it's so much fun!

    Would love to see more Ableton Live videos using Simpler and making/using samples in general. One think that I don't understand about Simpler is how to export all the samples once you get a good slice. I haven't been able to find a way. I also haven't been able to figure out how to delete "bad" slices, for example parts where there's no audio.

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  Год назад +1

      I can definitely do more sample videos!
      To 'export' the samples from simpler, when you're in 'slice' mode and have found the slices you want, you can right click in the sample area and click on 'slice to Drum Rack'. This will convert all of the individual slices to pads on a Drum Rack. From there you can process each slice differently, and even remove the silent slices, as you mentioned. :)

    This is amazing and motivated me to explore amazing sounds from scratch! Thank you!
    There was another technique to combine for example 3 or 4 different sounds from single audio channels and then group them (in a Sampler i guess) and then record them all with the midi controller, i just can't remember how exactly this was done... Have you a video about this? (Sorry for not asking the question clearly😂)

      Are you talking about creating a rack of some kind? I'm a little unsure on what you're asking, sorry. 😅

    • @HeavyMetalBoomerMobile
      @HeavyMetalBoomerMobile 19 дней назад

      @@matttinklermusicYes, a rack in the Sampler! And then next step was to record either a whole octave (with the midi controller) or just 4 or 5 tones from this octave, here is where I don't know how it goes further...

    Why wouldn't my tuner be picking up what I'm playing? It stays blank with no movement. It's turned on. It works on other instruments in Ableton. I'm trying to use the "choir ahhhs melody gmin 115" sample.

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  Месяц назад

      There's 2 main reasons:
      1. Sometimes the pitch of the note isn't super obvious from teh frequency content, so the tuner has a hard time identifying it
      2. The sample is playing more than a single note at once. Tuner is only able to identify single notes.
      I'd recommend using either EQ8 or Spectrum to identify the pitch of the fundamental frequency (the lowest, most prominent frequency) and then that tuning to that! :)

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  2 месяца назад

      There could be a few reasons for this, but it most likely has to do with the sample you're starting with!
      Can I ask which of the methods you're trying to replicate?

      @@matttinklermusic once I get the sample to play as midi is there anyway to play it where the sample will play the entire time I hit the key cus it cuts off when the part of the sample I have selected ends is there a way to extend it?

    • @matttinklermusic

      You will probably need to loop the sample with the 'loop' button if you're in the classic mode. :)

    When I’m doing the first method I can’t hear my sample. Do you know why this would happen?

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  5 месяцев назад +1

      There could be a variety of reasons! It could be to do with not sending the track MIDI, the track being muted or something else being solo'd, not having enough volume on the simpler, but I don't really know without more info.

    • @aaronsbeats

    • @matttinklermusic

      It could be! You need to make sure that the sample you choose has a single musical note held for a decent length of time, otherwise you might not be able to get a clean loop. Let me know how you go! :)

    is there any way to make it not ovbiously loob? it sounds choppy

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  6 месяцев назад

      It really depends on the sample, but the only way is to just experiment with the loop start and end and the crossfade length. Sometimes it's possible to get it seamless, but other times it is really tough. In the context of a whole track it tends to be OK though. :)

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  7 месяцев назад

      You need to make sure you're dragging onto a MIDI tracj, not an audio track.

    • @matttinklermusic
      @matttinklermusic  6 месяцев назад

      Sorry about that! There was assumed knowledge there on my part.
      All you need to do is send the MIDI track some MIDI with either a MIDI keyboard, a MIDI clip or by using the computer MIDI keyboard, which you can activate with the 'M' key on your keyboard and then use the middle row of your computer keyboard as the 'white keys'. You will also need to make sure the MIDI track is armed. :)
