Lovely , so impressed , just fantastic , glad am in the hobby it changed my life , I love it, Congratulations to all who made it , just great certainly great fun 😊
I got a set back in the early sixties, it was a figure 8 set with red & blue Aston Martins. It was one of the nicest Christmas Gifts I ever received. Bought a digital set for my son this Christmas 2015 to keep the tradition going in our family.
Had our first set in the 70's, over the years I gradually expanded it then switched to digital, seems prices have rocketed in recent years, by today's prices it would cost well over £700 to buy what I currently have new.....
Lovely , I had 1 , set as a boy 12 or 13 yr old , and my family gave same set back to me and it a Bathurst set , and got a Bathurst 89 set , from tip shop , bought few cars and had it for a short while , sadly gave it away for free and almost nothing , but 5 or 6 yrs ago in Jan got back into it , and a big way , so awesome hobby , and I buy what I can when possible, so , sadly no wife or kids and so so lonely am old now so and I enjoy my slot cars hobby , so its makes me young again as a 12 yr old , so do my best , so its amazing , fantastic and fun for me , wish had a wife enjoy it too
It has very nice close-up shooting of the Formula 1 racing on the Classic track. It made me realize how uneven are the Classic tracks compare to the newer Sport tracks.
+Kevin Dobbie I've never noticed that! I can only assume that the car got dislodged from the track whilst going around the corner and drifted over into the outer track. From memory the older track was a lot less level than newer sports track and cars popping out of lanes was not uncommon. You'd suddenly find you were controlling two cars at a greatly reduced speed!!! Well spotted.
Hello, do you have a 1980s scalextric advert with the background music "racing through the dark night, red lights flashing, countdowns crashing, you're really racing....who will be the lead car, you're really racing". If you come across it, please message me, thanks!
I would like to know, did Scalextric made its own cheap line? I own Polistil Professional, theese cars are simple but upgradable, I don't think they did cost as an average slotcar today does. This is the point, if someone has no special expectation that's enough to have fun slotting. Most of the cars showed here already have a quite detailed shell. If you want a toy to gift to childrens, it has to be cheap, leave to the adults static scale models with a motor, or better, leave it to slottists because not everybody is interested in cosmetics
I cant afford digitial, so go earlier system , so great fun so I get so alone here , so , am not far from 60yrs age , 6 and half years away , so just by myself here , so its great , fun , enjoyable, and awesome, I live in Australia, so I get so excited when able buy few cars etc , other slot cars , etc , I made some things too , do my own repairs, so I wish there a spare parts place for my slot cars , so , I , do my best so glad am back in hobby , so its fun , so I got a girlfriend up the road but sad for me doesnt want live with me so just me here , so I built few slot cars from scratch bare shells parts I had and so it good so , the hobby found me , loneliness terrible thing , so I visit Liz , 2 , to 3 times a week , so my life good in parts so am thankful to God above , so for hobbies find me , so Ladies and gentlemen start your engines , and hope we all have fun ,
Two eyes? two legs? two arms? two hands? two ears? Not living on the streets? Not being bombed? Well then, some people are much worse off, so cheer up you old b******* 😁
You live in Australia but I find quite difficult to read this english. Anyway, it is called analog system. Actually, digital, if you don't have 6 friends to play with, is mostly a not durable waste of moneys. The most important feature to add is a laptimer, ir costs from free of some smartphone apps to 80€ of the Carrera's one, which is universal, I don't think Scalextric makes it. Some years ago was available also the Ninco, but Ninco has quitted slots. I've read that digital systems appeared about 20 years ago
@ yes indeed , I love my slot cars hobby , I bought a Texaco sierra and love that , early one, so I think great hobby , your channel very good , I watch it sometimes, for inspiration and I enjoy it too so when I was 47 , I picked a brand name that’s famous so , that amazing, it’s fantastic and enjoyable

Great video! I loved my Scalextric set back in 78 or 79. I'm getting my 9 year-old son into digital this Christmas.
Thanks for this great video. Some really interesting stuff in this. If only they would release it on DVD...
I still have some of that original track...Thanks for the trip down 'memory lane'...;-)
Thank you, this is an amazing video. Happy New Year to you from me (and all the mice in the workshop) 🏆

This fantastic thank you!
This is an old video shot 30 years ago :-))
Great video! However, what the hell happens at 25:13? It's not a crossover track piece yet the car goes from the inner lane to the outer one.

Well spotted.
I noticed that. Clever editing!
Kevin Dobbie
If you look at the track pieces from the catalogue earlier in the video you will see a crossover track ( two actually).
sehr Interresantes Video
I wonder if they will introduce DCC control as they've done with trains?
The Scalextric connection with Goodwood is interesting.

in the beginning at 18:00 cool the production of ..
The presenter is off magpie TV Mick Roberto...
the opening reminds me of the period BBC Grand Prix opening titles
from that time mid/late 1980s
Great!
Thanks for that! So interesting especially having just got the ARC system. Amazing how it has grown and developed. What year was that doc?
+Sheldon Norton 1988
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I thought that dark haired presenter was Kevin Keegan.
Neil Tenant anyone.? (If you get the reference).

30 years? My first Scalextric was gifted me in 1963 or 1964 and was not a "first edition" ;-)
+spennyit The video is from 1988 as per the description.
