+sushiking56 He seemed to be very fast, smart, and efficient. But only like 4 or so matches on record that I know of. Too bad he's 30 now he had great potential.
@domiffa BH rubber - mildly tacky usually with some sort of speed-glue/tension effect. Used for punching through loops with blistering speed. Speed as a function of effort is geometric (used on BH because BH strokes are weaker than FH strokes) FH rubber - much more tacky and typically a much harder rubber. Used for brushing strokes to create maximum spin. Speed as a function of effort is linear. They flip it because the BH is faster and you don't care too much about spin when smashing.
u should be able to hit low and OTB, but every time i watch the pros, most of them hit either hit starting from high up or from under the table. i think it's more effective cuz of the steeper angle it's tough to simply block or counter straight.
@gimplar - thanks guys. But it's still kind of odd that a top world class player takes the risk turning his racket during an extremely high-speed ralley...
What a Match... holy crap... If Ri would take part of the pro tour events he wouldn't be No. 100 in the World... iknow he isn't anymore but he is too far away from the Top of the World.... thats a shame... he lost against the WORLD CHAMPION only with 4:2!!! such a great Match!
There may very well be. But the point is, there really isn't any difference between a concentration camp and a prison. Both are places where you send people who break the rules of a given society. It is just that a concentration camp has a much worse stigma. By choosing to use the words concentration camp instead of a prison, you automatically make NK look a lot worse than if you had just stated, they have people in prison.
@lesliefrancs I honestly doubt North Korea is really as bad as they make it sound in the west. They say the same stuff in the US about Cuba. That is a total dump, etc, but in reality its a favorite vacation spot for Canadians.
@scylla24 First, saying Cuba is a favorite vacation spot for Canadians doesn't say much about Cuba. 2nd, show me where the "West" says Cuba is a total dump. I've been to Cuba several times. Pleasure and humanitarian reasons. Yes, it is not a "total dump" as you say. Warm and caring people. It is actually a beautiful place. Probably one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. Awesome diving. HOWEVER, people, ever smiling, are suffering. People have jobs but earn very little.
@cigarbong What kind of question is that? I live in the US, so obviously I would rather live in the US. But I would rather live in the US over most countries in the world, so thats not saying much. The point was that Cuba is nowhere as bad as they make it out to be in U.S. media.
@godlikerefugee i am definitely willing to have a debate with you about this subject, any I can assure you I can bring up plenty of good points. There are always two sides to an issue, so maybe you should consider that before first calling me a complete idiot.
@scylla24 Forget that "western" label, I don't learn about the world through 10 minutos news on CNN, I learn from people on the ground, there is no west vs non-west media coverage, there is good and bad coverage, anyway, it's table table tennis we like, right? Go reasearch and expand your horizon beyond "west" BS and lets watch tt
@vitor1271 Yeah we can enjoy tt, but a civil debate isn't that bad. I have done plenty of research about this issue, And where exactly have you been able to get coverage from the ground in re to NK? if its from NKs who have left, what do you expect them to say. They are coming to a new country, don't know the language, don't have a means to make money, of course they would try to play up their situation in order to get help. If a NK came to the US and said NK was great, they would get no help.
If you aren't better than Ri Chol Guk you are unable to talk about him. If not, continue practicing. Do better than him and try to win the WTTC, but stop this stupid discussion about who is the best penholder.. =)
@vitor1271 no, I say that because its the general practice of the west to bash any country that has a different political viewpoint from them. North Koreans get free health care and education. That doesn't sound like a concentration camp to me. Yeah it isn't the best country in the world, but it is far from the worst also. Nowhere as bad as they make it sound in the west. The very term concentration camp is bs. You could call all the prisons in the US concentration camps and it would work
Ri is playing so great, the level of the WTTC is so high this time around!!
Never heard of the other lad, but he was as amazing as the Zhang.
個人的に世界卓球2011で
一番好きな試合だわ
What happened to Ri? :( He isn't in the ITTF-World Ranking anymore :/ I really liked him :(
Ri Chol Guk played really strong here.
Unfortunately, he met ZJK.
This might have been ZJK's best ever tournament too. He ripped Timo apart later on.
5:06 Most beautiful racket I have ever seen. You can see how much Ri spent for his career.
0:56 I heard sound of OVTCHAROV.
wow yes, the unique cheer of ovtcharov hahaha
Ri Chol Guk is really a good player.
what happened to ri? i hope he wasn't killed or osmething
+sushiking56 He seemed to be very fast, smart, and efficient. But only like 4 or so matches on record that I know of. Too bad he's 30 now he had great potential.
rip ri chol guk
@@sushiking56 why R.I.P.?
@@ttime9947 cuz he's north korean
@@Mr.Jones05 doesnt mean he's dead
wow Ri chil-guk was great
Man, dont hear about this Korean player much, but he is awesomeeeee.... he should be in the top 20 if not already there
@razhorblahd - do you know what kind of rubber he's playing?
@tyoungos that's ridiculous. Ryu Seung Min at his peak was clearly good enough to beat all of the top chinese players.
the backhand flip at 2:42 was sick....
so many good players i never seen before wow great game from both player :DD
i could hear the Dmitri's siren call throughout the video
I really want to see Ri Chol Guk play against Ryu Seung Min to find out who's the best jpenholder.
@domiffa

if look at the score..this game was better than zhang jike vs timo boll in wttc 2011

@ 3:30 - why is he turning his racket and using his backhand (red) for the smash point????
nice and quite close match
nice match
really good match
@gsofficial The difference is this North Korean has not nearly the penetration of Ryu. He may be fast, but he just doesnt have a third ball attack.
@gimplar - thanks guys. But it's still kind of odd that a top world class player takes the risk turning his racket during an extremely high-speed ralley...
wow ri is really good
i wanted to see Ri vs Ryu...
@scylla24 Cuba is beautiful for the two weeks you stay there. But would you live there?
What a Match... holy crap... If Ri would take part of the pro tour events he wouldn't be No. 100 in the World... iknow he isn't anymore but he is too far away from the Top of the World.... thats a shame... he lost against the WORLD CHAMPION only with 4:2!!! such a great Match!
Ri Chol Guk's style reminds me of Chen Qi, though they hold the racket differently.
@DimaKats2 actually reminds me of ryu in his days
For each game that he wins against Zhang Jike, North Korea spares one family member.
Godammn don't make me cry
youll should read the book 'escape from camp 14'
The North Korean player wearing Butterfly tennis shoes and his coach wearing Butterfly T-shirt. Intersting.
never give up on penhold.. :D
0:53 i heard Dimitrij's scream..LOL
アメイジング
3:15 OMG!!! The Best!!
any problem?
0:55 Dimi Ovtcharov's CHO. Wow...
3:11 Amazinggggg...:D :D
Between this guy and Jang Song Man. North Korea is no joke.
Zhang Jike at 2:05 "Well, not bad. Try one more..."
@domiffa his backhand rubber is harder. Gives him more smashing force
Ri sometimes knows how to close in on table surface to make those looping balls suffer the consequences.
OVTCHAROV WAS IN THIS VIDEO!!! xD 0:55
@tyoungos Fool? Ryu Seung Min have Olympic gold. Kim Taek Soo's highest ranking was 3rd in the world.
How about Ri?
@scylla24 I'm from USA and I wouldn't doubt what your saying for a second.
Ri Chol Guk is 100, but he could be top 20 player.

@tyoungos more nonsense from you. Did Ri Chol Guk win an Olympics gold medal before?
@domiffa Because his backhand has a quicker rubber.
@cigarbong What kind of question is that? I live in the US, so obviously I would rather live in the US. But I would rather live in the US over most countries in the world, so thats not saying much. The point was that Cuba is nowhere as bad as they make it out to be in U.S. media.

Just pure dang at 3:15...
@scylla24 My jaw hit the ground when I saw that.

Oh and look on google earth.
That lack of a reverse backhand did in Ri. The penhold is great for forehands, but it turns the backhand into such a liability!
