This week I'm sharing my house savings update and some different ways I'm saving money and putting it towards this goal.
I'm finding in this new season it's a constant challenge of balancing our lifestyle and habits with saving toward a goal that is more of a "want" than a "need". Anyone else find this an issue?
My 2024 financial goals include:
-- Maxing my Roth IRA ($7,000)
-- Saving for a house downpayment ($10,000)
-- Pay cash for all vacations!
TRANSFER TUESDAY:
I started the Transfer Tuesday movement to motivate myself on my debt free journey to make more progress and celebrate smaller wins throughout the month. Each week I commit to doing SOMETHING no matter how small to move me closer to reaching my financial goals. It started with $5 in a week and sometimes I'm doing $500 or even $5,000. It's truly about forward progress each week.
Transfer Tuesday is the day of the week where I share our financial moves to stay on track and motivate others too. Y’all are amazing and have made this series something that is so motivating to me beyond what I could have imagined!
Every single week I'm committed to working on these goals. Making consistent progress every week is helping us get closer to our big dreams.

Love the habit of transferring what you would’ve spent but didn’t into savings. I should do that. Definitely trying to live my best life but I didn’t make any progress on my financial goals this week, minor setback. 😆 NEW
I’m a former Starbucks barista and never loved home coffee until we got a Nespresso machine. Yes it’s an investment, yes there are special pods to buy, but it has saved us thousands over the years. We were spending $300 a month on coffee out. 😅
You are so right: those small amounts add up! I love that you put the event money toward your house rather than just letting it sit there. Good call 👏🏼

I went to Aqua Zumba with a friend yesterday for the first time & it was SO MUCH FUN! Who knew?!
There are so many free things for kids especially at the library ! Look around if you can . Little bits add up ! Especially the coffee .

i'm so far behind every time i get paid i hate seeing the money is gone without progress then i say to myself... stop you have a mortgage free home, food on the table, and the bills get paid!
My husband and I just went to a Financial Planner to optimize our investments instead of doing it by ourselves. We are making some changes to optimize our retirement. New!

I was able to put our entire mortgage aside from my husband's check. I want to see if it's possible because I'm going on maternity leave next month. Feeling very accomplished!
Love your videos and your ambitions! I will offer a little bit of constructive criticism…. Y’all might need to either reevaluate how much you can truly save ($10,000 yearly goal seems too ambitious for the amount saved so far) or may need to see what can be cut back from your lifestyle…. I promise I say this with care, because I know from personal experience that not hitting goals can cause you to feel like you’re in a rut or like you’re just not making the progress that you would like! It can be very discouraging after awhile.

Oh for sure! We’ve actually been able to save $10,000 the past 2 years which is why I set it as a reasonable goal for this year! I aimed for $20k before and that was too ambitious.
I think $10k is still possible for us since we have income increasing and bonuses coming during the year, but it also depends on how motivated I feel by the goal. However, I guess I’m honestly just less motivated and want to spend more on lifestyle at this current stage.

Buying a house is not a want, but a need. At the moment you can afford rent but most people do not keep the same level of income on retirement then end up having to move to very low cost housing in not so nice areas or living in their cars. The secret is to buy a house just big enough, not a big 'show off' structure. Also if you buy a 3 bed for example, once kids all left could you separate 1 off, maybe the master, give it an outside door, make a small kitchen area and rent off to either continue paying the mortgage or increasing your income on retirement.
