Hi it's been a long time since my last video...
I decided to make movies more seriously;) Please write me in the comments what you want to watch: welding, lathe, work in the workshop or something else.
Regards Fuchmajster :)
I really appreciate you putting this tutorial out there for all of us. I was in a pinch on a Cessna 310 plane and this tip worked beautifully. Keep up the vids!!
省時方便👍
THANKS!! this method will work for my project... greatly appreciated 🤙🏽
Show, muito bem explicado. Parabéns pelo vídeo e pela explicação. 👍🤝
Thanks for sharing. Very Useful for help in troubles faraway form the city.
Excelente idea Gracias.
Time to obsolete arduous ancient leverage riveters, get your riveting jobs powered! Each of Sigma riveting adapters helps convert your cordless drill into powered riveter or powered rivet nut setter.
Will mine make that horrendous beeping noise when completed?
Yes
Excelente!!!
Thank you

use a ratchet wrench instead of an open end
simple genius.
Rivet is joint two parts I see in vedio rivet uper part spread by pressing but other side how rivet fixed with other part.please reply for further subscrbtion.
Please tell me what exactly do you mean?
Yup! Do what you can with what you have eh... ÜïÖ
Would have taken a fraction of the time if you had used the right tool for the job.
I guess if your able to grasp the back of the material then you don't need a rivet bolt, you can use a nut and bolt.. video is pointless
He never actually needed access to the other end. It's for demonstration purpose..
You don't get it. Really!
You should understand the purpose of rivnuts before making stupid remarks.
This is it! No further complication, shorter video yet the info is very well seen! ♥♥♥ Thanks a lot for sharing!
I like your method. Other youtube videos use a method where the screw turns - but that is more damaging to the threads of the rivnut.
I have also used an old ball bearing where you have the washers to greatly reduce the effort required, which becomes more important for the larger sizes. The nut needs to bear on the inner race and the rivnut only on the outer race. To achieve this for an M6 screw I edge welded two large thick washers together, one with a 6mm hole and the other with a ~12mm hole. This sits between the bearing and the rivnut.
Your use of a socket head screw is ideal for its high strength (like Speedboy Pyroschnüffler recommends) so the threads don't chew up. Normal high strength nuts are Class 8 but Class 10 is also available at bearing shops and industrial bolt places. Cheapo Class 5 nuts are too weak.
Finally someone doing it right albeit with a knackered nut the 1st time.
Cara! Esse ficou bem detalhado, agora entendi. Estou precisando. Agora vou fazer também. Muito obrigado por essa demonstração.
Thx for showing how cheap and easy, a solution can be. you're the man :)
I ran into a problem: When turning the nut, it turns the washer, which turns the rivet nut. Result: Screw unscrews and nothing happens to the rivet nut.
Solution A: Replace the washer with a piece of scrap metal that you easily can prevent from turning. Then the insert won't turn and this method works great. Problem solved.
Solution B: Use an oversized nut that slips. Check this video - clever! @ (However, note that this method puts wear on the thread of the rivet nut, so method A is better).
Great tip. I was on the verge of buying the toll just to set 5 rivnuts.
I’ve tried this method, but doesn’t work as the washers rotate in turn rotating the riv nut….trying to work out a way.
Tried with silicone grease / brass washers et still doesn’t work😡🤬
Works just great!! Tried a few other methods without success - this worked three times the first three times in a row. Best to practice on scrap metal first, so you understand how tight to crank it on (basically until the rivet doesn't move, and no further).
Thank you :) Do you prefer new videos about welding, lathe or mechanical works? Or works shop live?
@@fuchmajster welding !
Thanks for the video. Really came in handy when I needed to add additional threaded inserts to my daughter's new bed frame which was square tubular metal. There weren't any adjustment options, and the mattress was way too high. I found rivnuts that would work ($5 for 100 online at Depot) even though I only wanted about 8. My only input: Your rivnut seemed to crimp down far easier than mine, so I went through three or four bolts (zinc, stainless steel) because the torque required kept messing up the nut on the threads, and eventually the bolts broke in half! I finally bought a Cat 8 bolt and nut, and it worked perfectly with no cross threading. Having a hex head bolt also avoided the need for holding an Allen wrench tight.
hi. good response, a high tensile bolt (cat 8) is the best option. This tool (and your comments) are a far cheaper alternative to buying a rivnut proprietary tool.
You just saved me $50, you legend you!
Nice video, clear, and succinct. But that music is absolute crap.
Parabéns pelo trabalho!
Obrigado por compartilhar seu conhecimento.
Thanks for your vidéo. Have a nice day.
Show de bola este vídeo!
Simples e direto ao ponto.
Muito obrigado por compartilhar conosco seus conhecimentos.
Abraços!
To crush the rivnut requires a fair amount of force. It’s easier to unscrew the bolt afterwards if you put a bit of grease on it first.
Couldn't figure out the concept of the DIY tool for weeks until I stumbled across your video. I bought a coupler that wasn't the size of the bolt threads, doh. Found a nut in my garage and started crankin. Voila. Thank you!!
I am glad that I helped you. I make new movies all the time. What would you like to watch?
F:)
Great video, great for tightening up old loose rivnuts, Save me $100 for the tool. Thank You.
Se on siinä eikä miniän perseessä
Nice video but you could've made it much less annoying without that "music".
This is simply the best video I’ve seen on ‘How to install a Rivnut without expensive Tools’!! Thank you very much from Oz.
Perfect demonstration! Thank you so much, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Great video! Thanks! Here are two ways to make it even faster. Use a ratcheting box wrench. Or, use a longer bolt and run it through from the other side. Then put your nut on the threads that poke out. Use a socket/ratchet on the nut while holding the bolt with your hex key.
Other side? Forget it ... These rivets mostly just for the cases when you can not reach to the other side. Think of square tube, for example ....
I have not read all the comments. May somebody suggests the same. If you would use an elongated nut (and and adequate longer bolt) then the force on the thread is distributed on a longer interval so the nut will not deformed by the wrench.
How can anyone not like that!!!
The best technique than other videos.

Good! What is the rivet material please? Aluminium, stanless Steel?... THKS a Lot.
It's steel ;)
Thanks. It worked after 2-3 attempts. Thanks again.
Merci 😂
Really helpful thanks! I only wonder if this is also possible with m8 stainless steel nut?
I use a plate instead of the washer ! mutch better as sometimes the washer and the rivnut turns on itself !
What's the music
Rivet nut. Bolt is the male part.
Still a good video.
It is better to put a drop of oil to lubricate the fastener nut.
Cheers from Indonesia
Just saved me almost a 100 bucks thanks
:) I'm just wondering what to do next... Any idea? ;)
Great video. Nice setup when you only have a few to do and don't want to invest in an expensive rivet nut tool. Made me cringe for a second though. I am one of those people who is usually doing something with a tool and I think to myself "if this screw driver slips it's going to jab a hole in my hand" and It usually does. Same with the open end or crescent wrenches. Especially cheap ones. "if this wrench slips it's going to tear my knuckles up on that sharp thing" then BAM!!! it does. I could see that the nut you were using had some rounded shoulders. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I'm glad you made it unharmed.
Awesome!

Can you do this with 10mm steel rivnuts?
جميل جدا
اين نجد هذه البلتات
Does anyone know if this will work but with a bit more force on 316 SS rivnuts of a 5mm thread ???
Hello friend, very nice video, especially a simple procedure that is 100% functional. Thanks, good luck, hello Mirek, Czech Republic.
Good stuff. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank You!!... :)
thanks
Do plate jod ke dikhavo please.
Hi, great video!..I'm just thinking..how would you do it from the other side of the metal sheet (I mean from the side the rivet nut sits proud from)
questa è una bella idea, complimenti bravo
I usually use a electric drill instead of doing it manually as it it much faster and won't hurt your hands & fingers too ..... Haha !
DO NOT.- If you spin the screw, you are rubbing the threads on the Rivnut, needlessly weakening it. The PROPER way is to HOLD the screw while turning the common nut with a wrench, I use an Allen head screw and hold it stationary with an Allen wrench, and a small socket mounted on a though-hole (holow) Ratchet wrench, to quickly turn the standard nut and form the rivet shape. The Rivnuts are made form a SOFT material, in order to easily deform the end and form the "lip" that retains it in the hole... By turning the screw with a power tool, you are rubbing too much the threads inside the Rivnut, prematurely weakening it.
Expanding rivet , no end lock.
Brilliant! Just bl.... smart! Thanks al lot!
What material are that rivnuts?
😗
ill use the tool easier
Whats the difference from a revitnut & poprivit?
A rivnut adds an internal thread
Better not to put any backgroung music
ok thanks for tips :)
Hey thamk you for posting!this helps a lot!cheers!
You ought to put the box end over the nut, then assemble. You'll get more power to squeeze the river and not strip the flanks of the nut. Otherwise good video to teach someone who isn't familiar with these rivnuts.
Thank you :) Do you prefer new videos about welding, lathe or mechanical works? Or works shop live?
Muito bom
👍
なるほど、賢い
interesting thanks! Sill this work using it on a kayak or will it pull through he plastic
go right through plastic dude. You MAY be able to put a tight fitting washer on both sides but the rivnet will not hold in the plastic....just not strong enough
Great. Thanks.
music = no bueno
Very nice
Great clip - Very interesting
Thanks Like it
show it on 0.5 mm steel plz
Очень долго и не удобно...
why not hold the nut and just turn the screw.
Because i read you could damage the threads
👍
works just as good as my tool and you dont all the nut attachments
Oooo true but he can buy multiple diameter screws for different nuts for the price of ONE of your tips on your fancy nut setter... how you like that?
Awesome and thank you
Excellent video!
Thank you :) Do you prefer new videos about welding, lathe or mechanical works? Or works shop live?
I think its a good mix, Welding and mechanical does me well, but again that's my personal preference, because I'm learning to weld and I'm always interested in videos like these that make life a lot easier and cheaper as you can make these tools yourself, Plus the straight forward and clear videos are just perfect. P.S you're very welcome.
If you cant afford a $40 rivnut tool, you probably shouldnt be building anything.... just sayin 🤷♂️
not everyone lives in a country where its reasonably priced, it costs over 500 for the tool here, this video is very helpful.
Im installing a cargo net in my personal car... I need to do two of these in my entire lifetime.
I can spend nothing because nuts and bolts are free at work, or spending 50 dollars for a tool I'll use once.
What's more logical?
I hope the struggling was worth it. Just buy the damn tool
I only need to install four of these and will likely never need to do any more in my life. This video was a great help. Thanks for putting it out there!
Caseywillyoumarryme ...WTF is wrong with you? The guy did NOT struggle 😂 you are obviously someone that's never done a days work in his life!
