1968 Ludwig Super Sensitive

1968 Ludwig Super Sensitive. 5x14 chrome over aluminum. This drum is tuned pretty high and the snares are pretty tight because they're missing several strands and have a couple of kinked strands. I have a replacement set but wasn't going to put them on till absolutely necessary because the wires are hard to find.

Thanks James another great video. Certainly, it is sensitive sounding from the rim to the center. There is a center screw on the throw that actually adjusts the height of the snare wires against the head. It will raise or lower the wires. The knobs are adjusters on both sides will stretch the snare wires. I have a 60's Ludwig Super Sensitive that has a a baseball bat red felt muffler on it.

My main snare lately is a black beauty super sensitive. I had owned a hammered bronze one before then sold it and got a regular bronze supra and then sold it wanting to try a black beauty. It was a good deal and happened to be the super sensitive strainer version. It's the sound I've been looking for for years. I put die cast hoops and new puresounds on and wow.

I stated this a on another answer....when i say rock....im talking about super heavy/hard hitting music. Arena volume/a pair of sticks a night type volume. I don't believe (and know personally) that these snare wires start popping off in that type of gig. It's an amazing snare best suited for anything other than that tyoe of playing. It's great at softer sensitive type playing.

i picked up a 1966 super sensitive and holy crap i cannot find any snare wires for it. i am going to do a mod on a puresound one. i will let you know how it goes.

snare sounds very nice I have a 1966 super sensitive it has the baseball bat Muffler with the white felt I believe they stop using the baseball bats in 1968 so you probably have a late 1968 very good job do you want to sell it? Lol. you mentioned you got it back in the day so I'm sure it's your keeper nice video
