everyone in the comments are acting like if Alicent didnt get MAD when she heard abt Rhaenyra and Daemon, she almost CRIED, and the way Rhaenyra swore she didnt sleep with Daemon sounded like if she was trying to calm down Alicent bc she was so jealous
That’s why communication is so important, Rhaenerya could’ve just said “I was only physically attracted to Daemon and Cole, but I’ve only ever had romantic feelings for you Alicent”, that’s my head canon, which also stops where episode 5 begins, cause then Rhaenerya just became all about duty, and ended up just giving birth like her mother, the one thing she saud she’d never do.

them having romantic attachment can add so much depth to their present dynamic imo esp when it comes to their internal turmoil and everything as a whole. i hope the writers can take this opportunity to explore their relationship eitherway romantic or not
I think alicent was in love with rhaenyra she just didn’t know it or realize it.

Milly who played young rhaenrya said she played her as if she were in love with alicent and u can tell just by the looks young rhaenrya gives alicents, alicent may have had some type of feeling for rhaenrya but she would’ve never admitted or act on them due to her religious beliefs
It plays like they were in love but it was like this unspoken thing when they were teenagers. Like they never really admitted it or did anything about it but they both knew and then when their trust was broken they were both left questioning if the whole thing ever meant anything to the other and love slowly turned to hatred.

Two things sealed the idea of a romantic attachment to me,
1) when Rhaenyra hears that Alicent was to marry her father and 2) when Alicent heard of Rhaenyra's escapades in the brothel with Daemon.
Their reactions suggested very strong (romantic) feelings.
However in Alicent's case it might actually be for Daemon!
In the books there is a suspicion that Daemon and Alicent were lovers.
If true, she could have been devastated when she heard about the brothel escapade
Also in one episode she was wanting to show Daemon some tapestries.
1)If you look at the tapestries in the Red Keep nearly all of them are sexual. Suggestive huh?
2) She might've been trying to get some alone time with him but he was uninterested and had moved on to Rhaenyra.
It might explain her anger at Rhaenyra for stealing Daemon from her.
Alicent eating Rhaenrya's 🐈 would solve all problems.

My favorite scene was the last episode of season 1 where they showed Rhaynera turning around after being told her some was ate by the dragon and the look on her face was absolutely everything. It just gave you that feel of what this whole show is about. That devastated but absolutely enraged feeling. You definitely saw fire and blood in her eyes. That amongst everyone else's choice when her dad came walking in when he was In his last days of living to helps with the line of succession that gave me chills. I'm absolutely obsessed with this show and I would love the chance to win this.

Me too, I don’t like where the show is going with these two characters if the show runners decides to go this route. Just stick to the book and we didn’t even mind if Emma the actor is binary as long as she’s portraying a woman in the show. Please, we have enough gay characters in the show, we get it but don’t ruin Alicent and Rhaenerya’s characters. Can’t they just stick with jealousy, envy, greed for power etc? First they suggested Daemon might be bisexual too but decided to delete that particular scene with the server 😠

Everything in the books is told from a spectators point of view. A maester. Which is why the shows writers can take some liberties and we’re seeing a “true” depiction of events. I think it’s cool tbh, I loved the books and this doesn’t upset me tbh.

That actually makes a lot more sense than them fighting because Rhaenyra wants to be the rightful queen. It adds a personal depth to the story that makes it better than the story presented in Fire and Blood.
Exactly since Alicent knew this the whole time even before she married her father. Alicent was moreso even in the fight because her father wanted the power and she was doing as she was taught but this theory makes it personal to *her* blend better with the actresses performance.
It’s very possible the show runners will go with this route that they had a romantic relationship during their teenage years. It explained why Alicent was upset when she suspected something happened between Rhaenerya and Daemon then with the confession of Sir Criston. Maybe they will show a flashback of these two young Alicent and Rhaenerya on season 2. I would rather think they only have a strong sister like friendship. Alicent not a Royal princess knows her place and somehow is envious of Rhaenerya’s status.
