I cannot tell you how I love your video in it's clarity of information and the fact that there is no music.

I am learning this, too. I have a great emb. machine but cannot use it right now because I am having physical therapy on my neck and I am in great pain. So I can sit on the couch and do hand embroidery! Thanks for the helpful and interesting video!

I inherited my great grandmothers embroidery set. Needles, floss, some patterns and a partially finished project. I am learning with these videos. Hopefully I can finish her project as beautifully as she started it. Why would one use the backstitch instead of the straight stitch? Just convenience or what works best for your hands? Does the finished product look different?

Linda I think the backstitch is easier for me to keep my line straight, and the stitches end up being a little closer together. Whatever works for you and your project. :) Good luck, and have fun!
