    You're the only one on YT with this variety. I'm like.. 95% sold on getting one. The all black is pretty cool. Am debating between this and Mojito (since it has green and black as well). Decisions 🤔

    What soil do they need? I got a small one from the nursery but every new leave dies off. I notice the water drain really fast when i water them. Should i repot? I have other elephant ears and they re all doing well except for this one

    Hi, I have purchased the Black Magic Colocasia bulb. Is it the same as the one you have with shiny leaves?

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  6 лет назад +6

      Unfortunately they are not the same. Black magic is similar but the leaves are not as dark and they have more of matte appearance than a shiny coating. But, black magic is much more cold hardy and vigorous! :)

      Hello! I'm in 6b so they are annuals here or houseplants. I know if I were in 10b I would give them a try for sure!

    New gardener (I use that term loosely lol), would these look good with the green elephant ears? I already planted the green ones in the front of my house but now I want these dark ones...lol, but I don't want it to look tacky. Will one outgrow the other?

    hi my Jeff you know I don't like that plant because of the color but I have a corner that if you go on my backyard video it's in back of my air condition and all that junk is going to be out of there cuz I'm redoing that part of my yard this week and in the future I'm going to get one of those plants and put it in that corner in front of the white wall I think it would look great there and I would remember you every time I look at it.!! you have some videos of mine you haven't seen yet catch up today you'll enjoy them!!🐕🐕🐕👵

      I know! I've noticed you have been uploading quite a bit! I'm behind on catching up with everyone i subscribe to because my internet went out for a long time and i just got it back up and running. I had to go to starbucks and use their wifi to release the philodendron video on thursday. I am kind of happy though because now i have a whole bunch of videos to watch tonight and tomorrow! .... You know, I have never been a fan of the all black plants, but I am pleasantly surprised with how much i like these colocasias, i think maybe because they are very shiny! How exciting you are going to have a fun new corner to garden in! I hope someone is doing that clean up for you and you're not going to be out there in the heat! Be careful!

    I have this plant indoors, but the stem just keeps falling down and the leaves die. Has this happened to you before?

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  4 года назад +2

      Hello, Maria! When colocasia indoors wont hold their foliage up, it is usually because they need more light. That is a very common problem with them. 🙂

    I have put have purchased a n elephant colocasia. It appears black, but in dire t sunlight they are s deep dark red that appears black in the shade. No green at all. Do you know the name of it? Thank you for your information

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  5 лет назад

      I'm sorry, nothing rings a bell that I could say with certainty is the one you have, Black magic colocasia has a wide array of shades, but so do most of the other "black" varieties of Colocasia. If you are on Instagram, Snapchat or Twitter you could send me some pictures of the plants and I could hopefully be of more assistance. :) The links to all of my social media are in the bottom of the video descriptions. Have a wonderful day!

    My black coral has a lot of babies growing, should I separate these into smaller pots?

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  3 года назад

      You certainly can, they divide off easily with a sharp blade, but they do throw a fit after being cut and will look sad and droopy for a few weeks before they start to regrow. :)

    Hi! Just came across your video. I got one of these elephant ears pup I was just wondering if its it ok to pot it in miracle grow potting soil?

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Ana! I use the regular miracle grow potting soil (yellow and green bag) all of the time. I often a little sand or perlite to it to help it drain a little faster. However Colocasias like some extra moisture, so it should be just fine. 😀
