I might be confused, lol. If this is about the best album, I agree 100%, and Swine is the worst. ST94 is the only one I still listen to, today. Though it wasnt "Motley Crue".
Yes, Vince is the weakest link because he doesn't write many songs or lyrics, does not play an instrument and can't sing very well or even remember lyrics to songs... but, even though he has never been a great singer, he has a very distinctive voice which really doesn't sound like anyone else and that makes him unique...plus, there's no denying that he's one hell of a great frontman for that band. Vince can definitely work up an audience. Motley Crue, at times, seemed like a street gang made up of mischievous brothers. Vince is an integral part of that band/gang. Removing Vince from Motley Crue just didn't make sense for most fans...it was like losing a close friend or a brother and replacing him with some stranger. The Corabi Crue album kicks major ass and Corabi is a fantastic musician with a very cool voice but, calling it Motley Crue also didn't make much sense to most fans. In my opinion, they should have changed the name of the band when Corabi joined because it truly did sound like a totally different band except for the song "Poison Apples" . My pick for #1 Motley Crue album is Shout at the Devil because it's so damn heavy and still sounds fresh to this day! My pick for worst Motley Crue album is New Tattoo because the music sounds paper thin to my ears and the lyrics and songs seem kind of forced and generic. I get that they were trying to go "back to basics" on New Tattoo but, it just didn't sound natural to me...if that makes any sense. - However, I will say that Randy Castillo was the perfect choice to replace Tommy Lee at that time because Castillo was such a freakin' badass drummer and he had the right look for the band but, I think they should have gone in a much heavier direction for New tattoo. Instead of trying to make Girls, Girls, Girls part 2 they should have did something more in the vein of Shout at the Devil or the debut, in my opinion. Also, I think the Saints of LA album is criminally underrated. That damn disc is heavy as all hell and has some really great songs! Crank that album up in your car while driving 65 mph on an open stretch of highway and you'll hear what I mean!
No because as you said in the video, Motley Crue was unique in that everyone knew who everyone was in the band, they are the sum of all their parts. I stand by what I said about MC94 That being said it wasn't the huge album it should have been at the time, it should have been HUGE. They needed Vince and Vince needed them to get back to big tours etc.
2:56 re: Vancouver. Yep, big-time: from Wikipedia, the album credits include Bob Rock, Bryan Adams (backup vocals), and Steven Tyler (backup vocals). Tyler was in Vancouver recording "Pump". There are several other artists listed, but those mentioned really emphasize Vancouver.
Yes I have a live bootleg with Corabi. It’s ok. Some songs are ok like he can sing shout @ the devil and it’s sounds ok but others are awful. He doesn’t have the voice to sing girls girls girls or wild side. He could never sing rattle snake shake or same ol situation.
17:55 According to Wikipedia, "Rattleshake Shake" is not even listed as a single so I don't think it was a big hit. I do vaguely remember it being released, but maybe it didn't chart?
6:58 re: "had moments along the way [after Too Fast For Love]". This is quite an understatement. In particular, "Shout at the Devil" was a huge album (in impact, if not sales). It's probably my #1
Very interesting pick. May have to go back and revisit it. Vince was Vince. I still listen to songs from Too Fast for Love, Shout at the Devil, Dr. Feelgood, Decade of Decadence. That's about it. I remember it very clearly in the early 80's going through the Maiden,Ozzy,Priest phase while doing Quiet Riot, Ratt, Mötley,Dio etc., then Raven, Mercyful Fate, Metal Church,Exciter,Exodus,Venom, Metallica,Celtic Frost, Voivod then totally into the thrash Anthrax, Slayer Megadeth,Creator,Sodom,Destruction,Overkill,Death Angel etc, underground punk( G.B.H., D.R.I., Black Flag, Discharge,Dead Kennedys,Minor Threat) and crossover like S.T., Mötorhead all within a year and a half from 82 to late 83 to early 84. It was like boom, boom, boom. So much change in such a short time. Underground tape trading, the concerts etc. Great times.
hard to not like those first two albums for sure! but ya, what a period for music! from 78-88 there was soo much change going on in like every genre of music!
1994 was not one of my better years but I remember when this album was released, I had great expectations that it was going to put the band over the top, kinda like the same scenario that Van Halen did with 5150 and I love that album but when I listened to it for the first time I absolutely hated it. It wasn't what I expected from them at all and with other issues going on in my life at the time, I basically just put it in my collections and forgot about it. Now, fast-forward to 2000 I was going through all the music that I had accumulated over the years since my teens and I had a bunch that I honestly didn't remember anything when I bought them and the 1994 release was one of them. I put it on to listen to front to back and to this day I don't know why I chose to hate it so much, Power To The Music is now one of my favorite tracks of all time as well as Smoke The Sky, even some of the slower ones like Misunderstood and Driftaway are great as well. When they chose to work with Bob Rock again for this album it definitely helped production-wise, even more so than Dr. Feelgood and you have to remember this was at a time when grunge was becoming the thing to listen to for that generation, all I can say is I don't know why I didn't give it more of a chance back then but even now I listen to it probably more than some of the other ones in their catalog and I hope they do a deluxe edition of this at some point.
6:19 Martin handles the curveball very well (re: "Motley Crue" vs "Too Fast For Love"). Just a guess: was there an intermediary involved in the planning? No biggie, but seems like a "game of telephone" happened inadvertently.
I like the Motley Crue album but i remember back in the day being so angry that Vince Neil was let go, Motley Crue album is at number 6 on my top 9 studio albums of the band in front of New Tattoo, Generation Swine and Girls Girls Girls. My favorite will always be Shout At The Devil, 2nd Dr. Feelgood and 3rd Too Fast For Love. I appreciate the Corabi album way more now than back in the day, it's their heaviest sounding album. I'm a huge Motley Crue fan since i was 10 years old in '83 so i love every album they did but not on the same level.
I completely agree with Tim, this has always been my favourite Motley Crue album. I would always play my Dad's vinyl copy of the album when I was younger. I can listen to the album straight though without any skips. I'm a big fan fan of all Thier other stuff with a tough choice out of Shout, Feelgood, Too Fast for the next favourite as all have their merits.
Martin just confirmed what I've been saying to my friends for decades: I'm not a Motley fan. I know all their catalog, but "Too Fast..." is my favorite MC album. Actually is not my favorite, but the only one i DO like. The other ones have a few songs here and there, but I don't like them as albums. And the only other MC album that Iiked at the time was "G. Swine". I've used to date a girl who always listen to that and after some listens I started to like it (I revisited it a few years ago and I couldn't care for it anymore, though I've heard what was interesting about it). It's funny, the 94 album leans towards grunge, Generation leans towards industrial - yes they were desperated - but those albums showed a musicality that pleased someone that was not interested in their typical music: me.
I compare the album a lot to Native Tounge by Poison, both of them were the best albums made by the bands, yet Richie and Crabbie were just too good for the sound that the bands were known for. Ive heard people say that Native was Richie's solo album featuring Posion, and it is, that was not Posion, as ST94 was not Motley Crue. Great comparison Tim.
@@JCStorm76 it's a completely different sounding Poison album. Most Poison fans do not like Native Tongue, where others think it's their best. And those fans probably aren't Poison fans.
I’d agree completely with Native Tongue. Outstanding album, actually the first I bought from Poison after dismissing them. Ritchie really brought the best out of the band. Unfortunate about his extracurricular activities during the tour, it would have been interesting to hear where Poison went for the next record.
I just discovered this channel, and I've watched a couple videos but this guy on the left, I've agreed with him on Def Leppard, Motley Crue, and Poison. There's a dude out there with the same unpopular opinions as I hold lol.
I've never been able to get into when Heavy/Glam Metal bands go for this hard rock, "mature" sound. Only exception for me is Tokyo Blade's Burning Down Paradise from 1995. Give me Red Hot any day of the week.
I like the self-titled album with Corabi but it's not my favorite. I remember buying it on cassette when it was new and was telling a college friend about it. He didn't even know they were putting out a new album. It really didn't seem to get much promotion here in Ohio. The music stores around Columbus were all about Soundgarden and other grunge/alternative acts at that time. My favorite album is probably Shout but I like most of their catalogue.
Really enjoyable to hear the intelligent comments/analysis/critiques of Tim and Martin. I was totally captivated though I don't give a damn about Motley Crue. You guys made that album sound so interesting I may actually check it out!
Very good exposition, but I think a counter is to question if it _was_ a Mötley Crüe album? There is the Corabi factor but also Corabi notes in "The Dirt" that the band were chasing trends for a "new sound", and were all over the place. A thought experiment: if this album had been released under a different band name, would it have succeeded? I argue yes, because many people vouch for the album. So perhaps it is a Mötley Crüe album in name only, and neither spirit, nor sound, nor line-up. My choice is Shout at the Devil but it is probably sentimental. I think the weak link is undeniably Mick's lead playing. Though the solos were a detriment at the time (compared to the pyrotechnic contemporaries), it has probably given the music a better "long game".
Great job. TIM/ MARTIN. The 9️⃣4️⃣album I thought was very good. I probably listen to this one , more than all the rest in 2021. I actually like John Corabi with UNION and even Dead 💀 daisies. As I ve gotten older, I have pulled away from Crue. Without Sixx , in my opinion, they never make a dime. I rank this 94 album , third in my catalog. First 2, then this 3. Awesome episode. 👍💯
Too Fast For Love is my favorite Motley album. I got into the Crue from the start. 1. Too Fast 2. Shout 3. Dr Feelgood 4. Girls 5. Theater 6. Motley Crue 7. Tattoo 8. Generation Swine 9. Saints
Definitely Motley Crue’s most mature and sophisticated album. When I want mature and sophisticated, I turn to other bands. I prefer the first two albums.
They did to certify platinum for generation swine also they certified platinum for red white and crue and carnival of sins as well as saints of los angelos. Where do you get your information
I don't know if I should thank you guys or not for finally armstrapping this oldtime Crüe fan into listening to this album. They sound like Coverdale/Page wanting to be The Black Crowes & well...succeeding in part. Corabi is a good vocalist, & the Crüe are playing...someone else's music? 2 out of 5 skulls- one for 'Hammered' & one for 'Smoke The Sky'.
Tough to pick, I grew up getting all these albums but too fast for love when they came out! Outside of kiss and Van Halen motley is my favorite band! So many teenage memories! I’ve seen them 11 times first time theater of pain tour! Just blew me away! I remember Autograph opened up and were pretty much booed off the stage! All that said Dr feelgood is the best written and preformed album, but Shout is my fav! Great episode guys!
I’m a huge Mötley fan. I’ve seen them live 27 times, including with Corabi. However, the ‘94 record sucks. Bottom line, it’s not a “Mötley” record. It’s funny how so many people praise the ‘94 album but nobody bought it then and no one I know owns it now. It’s easily found in the used bin of any record store. Their best album is Shout at the Devil. Shout is heavy, fun, catchy, memorable and the tour opening for Ozzy was legendary.
I did like this album when it came out, but I never considered it a true "Motley Crue" album and have always wondered how this album would have done if they had used a different band name. But of course, I understand that Elektra Records would not have gone for that, because they had paid a huge amount of money to resign Motley Crue. Elektra wanted a new Motley Crue album.
Actually I watched a interview with John Corabi and that is exactly what he said. If they had not released it as a Motley album and had different name would have done way better!
I actually own the Too Fast For Love recording on the Leathur records. Got it as a Christmas gift back in ‘83, I must agree even though I was big into Crue’s first several albums, as I have gotten older I would say their best album is Motley Crue. Corabi is a much better singer and the songs are pretty heavy. Tommy drums are as solid as they’ve ever been.
Interesting pick for a Motley Crue fan, because this album doesn't sound like a Motley Cure album at all. Very grunge influenced more Seattle than L.A. Reminds me a bit of Alice In Chains. For a grunge album pretty unmemorable and for a Crue album ... I grew up on Girls, girls, girls (I don't like much) and Dr. Feelgood (TMO their best).
My album ranking 9. Generation Swine 8. Motley Crue 7. New Tattoo 6. Shout At The Devil 5. Saints Of Los Angeles 4. Too Fast For Love 3. Theatre Of Pain 2. Girls, Girls, Girls 1. Dr. Feelgood
This is one of the few times I will disagree with you Tim! The Corabi album is very good, but to me it's not a Motley Crue album. It should have been done as a side project and called something else. It probably would actually done better commercially since alot of fans dismissed Corabi as the lead singer of the Crue. It's a quantum leap from what I consider is the Motley Crue "sound". I do agree with you, Primal Scream is their best song.
Totally agree. Coriabi can not only sing but write and play guitar. It gave the band a creative push because while Vince is fun and a capable singer, John is just better. MC 94 is dirty and raw. It’s a great hard rock record
Vince is what made the band and the concerts fun. He’s a top 5 frontman ever. Corabi has a repetitive voice, Vince’s voice is different and unique and I think sounds damn good.
I liked the motley crue album - but they lost their identity - i preferred the silly, knowingly dumb, glam rock band of the eighties, cleverer than they pretended - shout at the devil/doctor feelgood are my faves - tommy lee was the best drummer from the 80s - lucky enuf to be at donington 84 - they were first on that day - nicki thru his white bass into the crowd after the gig - it came up shredded later on, they tore it assunder - i remember a guy with the headstock during accept set lol - a BC rich i believe
I agree almost 100 percent. Motley 94 is definitely my favorite Motley Crue Album... And I'm a LIFE LONG Crue head. Since I was just a little kid in the early 80s. But the songs are just SO much better on this record than on anything elses, and John's voice is just perfect on that album. I hated everything that came after that album pretty much. Generation Swine and New Tattoo were absolutely horrible. The only thing I don't agree about is Too fast for love... It's probably my number 4 or 5. Behind Motley 94... My second favorite is Shout at the devil.
Crue had two great albums with Vince and rode those two the rest of their careers. The Crue '94 was a great album also but wasn't a Crue album in the true sense of a Crue album.
Motley Crue isn't Motley Crue without Vince Neil regardless of what people say. Vince definitely has lost his edge but he makes the band along with Mick Mars.
Like Tom Werman, my favourite Crüe album is Girls, Girls, Girls. I just love Mick’s guitar tone. Very raw and gritty. But I could do without the Elvis cover.
I can’t stand when people say this album is a very bad version of grunge or Alice n chains. Motley Crue’s Motley Crue is a great rock album with some up beat tempo songs. It’s just not a Motley Crue album. Should’ve been released under a different band name.
Not a good band at all but totally agree that the s/t is actually pretty good (surprisingly solid but maybe a bit faceless - not a criticism you could level at the 80s era Crue) and the Decade of Decadence comp is all you need from their early run. Way better than Native Tongue, IMO, which goes down the tasteful blues / Bon Jovi Road for a peak vomit inducing experience. Poison are also not great but there's some fun, NY Dolls / T.Rex vibes on their 80s singles - they strip that away and there's nothing. While the s/t Crue record sees them rocking with unexpected authority when they get serious and dump Neil.
The thing is, Nikki and Mick are quite smart and talented musicians, while Tommy is a good drummer. But Vince is a total goof, not artistically serious or particularly talented at any one thing up to and including singing. With Vince the band was destined to be juvenile and low-brow party rock.
@@ryanjacobson2508 If you think Crue are smart and talented then you're setting the bar pretty low. IMO they had a cool basic idea (70s glam and arena rock via punk nihilism for the hedonistic 80s) but it was poorly executed w/ clumsy, dorky songs. IMO G.n.R really took this idea and fully realised it's potential as those boys were dripping w/ talent despite their self-destructive streak... but listen to the playing on Appetite and then any of the first 5 Crue albums, it's galaxies apart. Tommy and Mick are competent but Nikki is an awful musician. I understand he's bringing a lot of ideas and direction to the band, but he really can't play his instrument - check out his bass solo on the Generation Swine tour, 15 years in and it's still amateur hour...
DLR had some good lung power on the first few Van Halen albums. But DLR as a vocalist basically was shot, especially as a live vocalist, by the mid 80's which created the enduring perception that he was never that good as a vocalist. Vince however was always pretty lame. A high, thin, breathy and almost twangy voice that IMO is a poor fit for hard rock (his voice always had to be mixed way up front to be heard, and there's a reason Crue goes heavy on the gang vocals).
Yeah the self titled with Corabi is really good!!! I think their worst is their most successful Girls and Feelgood I really dislike. First 2 are my faves then I left the Crue game and still really have no intrest
The Corabi album is far and away the best Mötley album. Such depth, heaviness and grooves, John is amazing, Mick is allowed to flourish, Nikki and Tommy are brilliant. Love it, love it, love it. Is it just me, or is Shout the most overrated Mötley album. The title track, Too Young and Danger are awesome, but the rest is really stupid. Theater Of Pain is massively underrated, despite the horrid singles. Don’t believe me, listen to City Boy Blues. Girls, Girls, Girls is easily the worst album, one that I’m embarrassed to listen to, even on my own, ranked as my least favourite album of all time.
It's their best produced album, no question. However it's not their best collection of songs. The songs were too long, the hooks weren't there. And without Vince it wasn't the same band. Motley Crue was an '80s hair metal band. Not an alternative metal band, not a power metal band, not a crunch metal band that they were trying to be with this album. They were jumping on a bandwagon they had no business being on in the first place. Self-titled sits right in the middle of the catalog in terms of quality. Not as good as those that preceded it but certainly better than anything that came after it.
The best MC record for me will always be the original Too Fast for Love (so much better than the Elektra version). A friend of mine bought that original version when it was first release and when I heard it, I was blown away! I still have that version on tape off of my friend's Lp. Shout and Theatre are also very cool, but their eponymous album is their best output in terms of composition, sound, vocals and playing. It's a great album! I'll be contrarian here by saying that (to me) Dr Feelgood is a terrible album: the production is awful and the songs are not exciting at well. Great show!
Completely disagree; keep trying to like the self titled album but it's kind of "lumpy", plodding, almost devoid of hooks and memorable riffs and there's not even one standout song for me. Great call on Primal Scream though, I LOVE that song 🤘🏼
I hate the 'Generation Swine' album cover! I get what they were going for because of the pigs, but I think it looks stupid! I haven't checked out the Mötley Crüe's discography much. I've listened to their songs on Spotify, but I've been trying to avoid buying their records because I'm ashamed to listen to them.
I think Generation Swine is the weakest album of all of thiers. Vince came in after it was almost finished, the writing was done. Mick isnt on the album much, most of the guitars are actually Corabi, and the songs were written for Corabi's voice which Vince cannot hold a candle to. John and Vince actually became friends during this period, cause John worked with Vince on all of his vocals. Letting Tommy and Nikki sing also was a shitty thing, they are terriable singers. You can hear Corabi singing in many songs, like Let Us Prey. Not a good album at all, though the ST94 album was not "motley Crue" Swine was not even close to being one, it was a Tommy, Nikki, and shit producers's project. Vince wasnst a weak link, sure he doesnt give a shit, and is not a great singer, and compared to Corabi he is a total dogshit singer, yet Vince was perfect for Motley Crue. Any other singer and that band would of never made it out of the Starrwood.
You missed so much shit in the beginning when you were going over the albums. You missed red white and crue. Also Carnival of Sins. Plus they have sold way more copies of dr feelgood than you said. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide and I know dr feelgood has sold more than that. The shit your saying is kinda passing me off you really don't know what your talking about. Especially if the John Coralie album was the first album you bought...... There were so many compilations and other releases that you didn't mention

First time I have seen Tim Durling on The Contrarians- I really enjoyed listening to his views on Motley Crue, great contributor.
This is actually his 4th appearance: Queensryche, Kansas and Journey proceed this one, but yes, he's very knowledgeable and a great contributor
I saw him here a few times, and realized i wasnt subbed to his channel. Fixed!
Anyone ever hear any bootlegs of the tour? I'd be interested in how Corabi handled the older material, and also how the songs from this sounded live.

Excellent episode, boys!! Lots o great debate...my favorite is Shout.
(My Contrarian choice? Too Fast For Love)
Thanks Jason!!
Native Tongue isnt bad but it isn’t even close to Poisons best album for me but each to their own
@@JCStorm76 it's a completely different sounding Poison album. Most Poison fans do not like Native Tongue, where others think it's their best. And those fans probably aren't Poison fans.
@@HuddshouseofRockNMetal I don’t mind it but it’s nowhere near as good as the first 3, they’re all classics.
Tim Durling and I are in total agreement. Favourite Crue song Primal Scream and start to finish the self titled album from 1994 is their best
1. Too Fast For Love. 2. "94. 3. Shout At The Devil. ....The End.
You can hear it a little in this album but they were listening to lots of Type O when writing and recording this 94 album
Really enjoyable to hear the intelligent comments/analysis/critiques of Tim and Martin. I was totally captivated though I don't give a damn about Motley Crue. You guys made that album sound so interesting I may actually check it out!
yep i hope they do more together! In fact i think they might!
@@thecontrarians2438 Great!
"Brandon, you are my son.." 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the comment!
Too Fast and the 1994 album are my favorites!
Side 1 of this album is phenomenal....
Too Fast For Love is my favorite Motley album. I got into the Crue from the start.
1. Too Fast
2. Shout
3. Dr Feelgood
4. Girls
5. Theater
6. Motley Crue
7. Tattoo
8. Generation Swine
9. Saints
Nice list!
I gotta agree. This album seems to hold up the best over time for me. The two Motley Albums with John are the only ones in my phone. Timeless stuff.
2?
@@MrOctober44 Yeah, sorta two. The band recorded 20 songs with that lineup. I rearranged them into two 10 song albums and they're both slamming.
Where do you get your information
i just did a quick google search and swine was gold in the us and saints wasnt even certified in the us
I don't know if I should thank you guys or not for finally armstrapping this oldtime Crüe fan into listening to this album. They sound like Coverdale/Page wanting to be The Black Crowes & well...succeeding in part. Corabi is a good vocalist, & the Crüe are playing...someone else's music? 2 out of 5 skulls- one for 'Hammered' & one for 'Smoke The Sky'.
no thank you necessary!
Here's a topic...RUSH's Caress of Steel
It's my favorite Rush album
"Protest vote" - love that.
Thanks Les for the comment!!
Shout if my favorite followed by Too Fast for Love and then I don't really care anymore.
It’s a great album. It should’ve been released under a different band name.
As a early 80s Crüe fan I tried to like 1994 but couldn’t was not my style and the ones after new tattoo is the only one I kept in my collection
Massively underrated record. Only 'Dr. Feelgood' tops this, for me. Talking about Crue exclusively, you understand.
Love Love LOVE this album to me, greatest of all time by anyone ever
Whoa, hang on - are you saying greatest album ever?!
@@MartinPopoff For me yes absolutely
@@MartinPopoff By the way love you so much and your books, thank you so much for all you do. And especially Motley Crüe day by day.
I am almost there with you. One of my top 5 greatest heavy/hard rock records of all time
in the 80's.....vince neil was THE MAN
no one was cooler
My album ranking
9. Generation Swine
8. Motley Crue
7. New Tattoo
6. Shout At The Devil
5. Saints Of Los Angeles
4. Too Fast For Love
3. Theatre Of Pain
2. Girls, Girls, Girls
1. Dr. Feelgood
I agree with Martin 100% on all accounts here
I also agree had Vince stayed they might’ve been able to fall in line with ac/dc or Aerosmith and lasted the 90s and 2000s.
All respect, but I think that 'Primal Scream' is their Worst song. Turned me off a beloved band.
Totally agree. Coriabi can not only sing but write and play guitar. It gave the band a creative push because while Vince is fun and a capable singer, John is just better. MC 94 is dirty and raw. It’s a great hard rock record
Vince is actually not a real "Singer".
Vince is what made the band and the concerts fun. He’s a top 5 frontman ever. Corabi has a repetitive voice, Vince’s voice is different and unique and I think sounds damn good.
Crue is a good example of "got big, then got lazy". No edge after Shout, not that the first couple albums are that great anyway.
first two...
decent
hit or miss forward
Is it really a contrarian pick at this point? I constantly see people pick this album as their favorite
It's still never topping the polls.
Should’ve been released under a different band name.
shout is the best !!.........
Motley 94 is great
best motley crue album. One of the best albums from 1994.
Engaging discussion, thanks. For me, TFFL ranks 1st but 1994 was a close 2nd. Objectively, must admit Corabi's voice is better.
@@ryanjacobson2508
If you think Crue are smart and talented then you're setting the bar pretty low.
Vince the weak link? I'd say no. I'd put him in the David Lee Roth category of not
vocally great but distinctive. Shout at the Devil FTW.
Shout at the devil.😃👍🤘🤘
Great show!
Thanks as always for the comment!
That guy is incorrect, Shout rulz!!
Bottom 2 for me are New Tattoo and Generation Swine
It's a shame they insist on continuing without Mars.
Motley Crue has a handful of decent songs. Nikki Sixx takes himself way too seriously.
Only 80s Crue mattered and this album although they never were any good compared to the best metal bands. After this they were shite.
Crue was basically beginners metal. It is what it is. There was a big audience for low brow hard rock and Crue pandered to it big time.
We generally don't include compilations or live albums in these discussions.
