if anyone’s bothered by commander tartar having a different personality he reprograms his speech around mr grizz
he’s basically the same evil telephone man from the games when he’s not around him
and also cause i didn’t have much to work with from the games 💀
why does he do that
Maybe because it's a creature from human times
Honestly, I like the idea that Tartar would have a sort of soft spot for Mr. Grizz, seeing that he's one of only 3 mammals left, one of whom is his creator's pet cat and the other a clone of said cat.
That, and considering that Mr. Grizz has basically the exact same goal (to overtake the world and make it more like how they remember humanity being/in the image of humanity), I feel like they would legitimately get along, even if Tartar is exaggerating for. Idk maybe he's mimicking how his creator used to baby talk Judd or smth. Lord knows I do that to my pets

I headcanon he is benevolent towards mr. grizz because he's personally demonstrated the sort of qualities that tartar is looking for in "the next intelligent life" that he is supposed to pass humanity's knowledge down onto. They also have essentially the same goal of bringing back pre-splatoon earth. Grizz wants to see mammals rise again, and tartar wants to return to the days of humanity.
Honestly, making Mr. Grizz look like an actual bear somehow made him look cuter than when he looked like that one Teddy bear from the meme.

I don't think he would be particularly aggressive towards Judd, Little Judd or Mr Grizz, since I believe they all crossed paths with one another at least one point. Judd and Little Judd especially since they were created by the same creator as TarTar

Tartar and Grizz really have a lot in common mainly their intentions. Both of them wanted to get rid of thr inhabitants and replace them.
Tartar was mad about the way of life in the new world whereas Grizzco just wanted mammals to return. But unlike Grizzco for Tartar we djdnt see the full on effects on what happened to the world whereas for Grizzco we are, we see that the world becomes one giant foozeball
well, we got to see that the green goop is falling on inkopolis, and then it covers the camera. We see a tiny bit of what it does

Not really besides wanting to end the world and restart it. Grizz wanted only mammals while tartar wanted to basically hit the reset button entirely. Grizz was making animals and tartar wanted to make humans again, I feel like they probably would hate each other because if one plan works the other can't do theirs.

Pfft, Tartar and Grizz are both simultaneously so heavy with their backstories and motivations, but so silly with their designs and themes. This was cute!

I miss Mr. Grizz so much, he had such a sad story and yet I really liked his character in the story. Idk if it's his fluffiness but I will miss him dearly
There's a good chance we might see more of him! During the end credits you can spot him orbiting the Earth, floating in space while curled up in a ball.
I still find ironic that they're both the only characters that have seen living humans and have the knowledge of them and both want to commit mass genocide on the modern inhabitants

If only they interacted in the games. Their motivations, intentions and origins are extremely similar. Sad that Tartar died at the end of Octo Expansion. At least Mr. Grizz is still alive.. floating in space... curled up into a ball? Guess we'll find out what happens next in this never ending saga in the DLC.
I assume Tartars dead given his last words about reuniting with the professor. Though he could've survived since both DJ Octavio and Grizz did after numerous explosions.

Actually, it's a shame Tartar got destroyed, because it would be really cool if the DLC was about the plot twist of Tartar and Grizz knowing each other (which would be super cool).
They would team up and become a very cool duo of villains and they would create the ultimate mindcontrolling ooze together. And it could be really cool.
Like imagine if thanks to the help of Tartar, Grizz manages to make his fuzzy ooze not just turn into balls of fur but lose their tentacles and grow hair instead, making them look like humans, while on Tartar's side, Grizz would help him improve the mind control of the ooze.
And with Ultimate ooze, they would turn Inklings and Octolings into humans (well maybe they still wouldn't have bones but I don't think they need bones to support having hair).
Like imagine if Nintendo releases a trailer for the DLC, and one of the few things we see is a human that vaguely looks like a rival Octoling with no other information. That would bring so much hype.
Also if we see Agent 8 in this (also Agent 4 please), maybe add new haircuts. It's said in Splatoon 2 that 8 is younger than rival Octolings so now that they're older, maybe we could finally have access to the rival Octoling's haircut for our character.
Looking back, I wrote the word "cool" way too many times in this comment. Eh. It just shows how cool all of this would be. Well it might not be what's gonna happen, but I can sure as heck make my own story where it does.

I love this sm, considering how tartar in the OG japanese verison seems to view humans as god like I think it'd make a lot of sense for commander to act extremely like this around someone like grizz.

Even without knowledge of Tartar’s differences in the Japanese version, I still interpreted Tartar as deifying humans, being blind to the fact that the very things it hates cephalopods for are very much human failings too; some even are the very things leading to humanity’s downfall. If anything, in the Japanese version, Tartar deifies the professor specifically rather than humans in general, referring to the professor with language alluding to terms used for God in monotheistic religions.

I could imagine that tartar was happy to see a mammal with his likes. Tartar wanted to grant his knowledge to the next generation but he was disappointed that the new generation cares about trends. He supposed they would be more like the scientists were. Hungry for knowledge. Mr grizz only wanted mammals again. He felt alone and sad nothing would be like before. Is kinda sad

Mr. Grizz isn't dead and until we are explicitly told that in lore nobody can convince me otherwise. If DJ Octavio can survive getting exploded THREE TIMES, then a celestial space bear infused with weird crystalline ooze can survive a rocket explosion. Probably isn't running Grizzco anymore, since he's most likely just chilling in low orbit but hey- better than being dead

Ever since I got the Octo Expansion for Splatoon 2, whenever I see one of those old telephones (that look like Tartar)I basically get dramatic flashbacks. Guess I have PTSD of old-timey phones now.
