YAY!!! I’m 54 in Dec and I freaking love my makeup. I love it all. I always think will I stop as I get older and I’m glad to hear you’re still wearing what you love!!! I seriously hate when you see articles what women over 50 shouldn’t be wearing. So you turn 50 and glitter and shimmers have to stop and wear boring makeup? Yeah, don’t think so!!! You have any favorites you want to share? ☺️

Thank you so, so much for this video. I'm 56 and a cancer survivor. My skin changed drastically due to a hysterectomy and chemotherapy. I don't recognize my skin anymore. I feel like the skin on my face is losing its elasticity and my eyelids are drooping. I think it's due to not having estrogen. I have been really struggling with my makeup. Thanks to you I have made my list and tomorrow I'm buying new products. You have no idea what this means to me. You are an angel and I can't thank you enough.

I am 56 and I can say that all of these tips are right on!!! I even learned something.....to apply my foundation with a sponge dampened with setting spray! The only I could possibly add, is to apply powder eye shadow in little tiny circles on the eye skin (especially in the crease) instead of using windshield wiper motions. That way there won't be the splotchiness due to loose skin being moved around.💜

I’m 72 and I think your tips are right on! The only thing I do differently is to wear one of the newer more high makeups that contain skin care and are a more natural finish. The dewy, radiant foundations just magnify my texture. Of course I’m a LOT older than you!😊

Awesome video! I’m 47, almost 48; and I have hooded eyes. One thing I do to make my eyes look more open is to reverse the outer corner and the lid shade. So the inner 1/3 is your dark shade and the outer 2/3 is your lid shade. You can still add a touch of shimmer or highlighter to the inner corner to add light and more drama. It really opens the eyes. Also use a darker shadow to line under the eye to sweep up in a under the eye started wing.

🥰 You’re so pretty 😍 How refreshing, a MUA telling us we are “allowed” to still wear glitter make up, at or over the age of 40. I now feel awful if I dare to go against the rule! Also I appreciate that you’re using affordable make up, that most of us can afford. Due to disability and palliative care, I don’t have money for high end make up. Even though I’m bed bound, I enjoy doing my make up. It might seem pointless to many, since I don’t get up, but it passes time, and distracts from pain and the situation. It also helps my Children to not see me looking deathly pale 🫣 which in turn makes them feel better. Thanks so much for all these recommendations ♥️ especially the elf ones - they will be going on my Christmas list. 🎄

Hey Zabrena! You're so polite when you talk to us "older ladies!" Telling us about more mature lips and the "tiny lines" around them! Where do you see tiny lines? Mine are crevasses, like the deep canyons in the mountains! I use a filler stick by NYX, then a creamy concealer. Once the concealer has set, I use NYX lip liner in "Peekaboo Neutral" to line and fill. I push it into the lip with a fingertip, then blot with a tissue. Then I apply gloss or lipstick over for the starting lip of the day. Colored balms only for touchups later in the day; once that lip liner has faded, there's no turning back. Now if I could just figure out how to make my hair stay put without getting hairspray on my face...

I started leaving mascara off my lower lashes probably about 3-4 yrs ago and it definitely helps with a more youthful appearance IMO. I’m in my early-mid 40’s. My lashes are nice and long, even the bottom ones so it was giving me shadows making my hollows more noticeable with mascara. I have very oily skin and so that helps me look youthful but using cream products is also a help too and can be done if applied correctly for my skin type. Everything was a learning curve for me after 33. We have to switch up routines to keep it fresh. I never had much brow hair anyways lol, also blonde so brow products are a MUST. TFS all the tips! 💕

I love the tip for blending foundation with setting spray on the sponge!
I have a weird tip for the lips. It keeps the color from feathering and I get a moist shimmery finish. I don't care for a glossy or glassy finish on my lips. So, what I do is apply a VERY THIN layer of a very sticky, shimmery gloss first (Buxom plumping shimmer gloss). Then, with a brush I apply a Satin finish lipstick (Revlon Super Lustrous). This lasts, doesn't bleed and I get a very nice finish. My inspiration for this moist shimmering look was Uma Thurman in the Kill Bill movies and just her look in general which was very dewy and fresh.

As for my brows I use an eye shadow for a natural soft look. I'll use a gel only for special events. I have combo skin so I use a mineral powder foundation only on my T zone. I just discovered you tonight (& subscribed), & love the few video's I've seen thus far. I am a fair redhead, too, (though my hair is auburn). I have hazel eyes, & favor all shades of green, bronze, sienna, cinnamon , as well as Grey's & mauves/pinks. Your lip colors are my favorites, as well. What I'm trying to say, is that I've finally found someone with my coloring , who mentors over age 40 women dealing with maturing skin issues. Thank you for helping us glow, in an age where the industry is hyper focused on teens/twenties.
I also love your kind, generous, spirit, that adds to your incredible beauty! Given these hard times, following the Covid-19 yrs. , when our money seems to be shrinking, as prices are climbing to outrageous levels, your emphasis on "Drug Store" make-up options is appreciated. (Last I checked, a Charlotte Tillbury lipstick costs $37 ! ) I think the quality of Drugstore makeup has also improved dramatically , rivaling legacy luxury brands.
As I was watching your well thought through videos, I felt encouraged to add a few of my favorite products, here. Since my discovery of BB Cream Foundations, it has been a game changer. I'm 56, & have taken great care of my skin from my teens, faithfully using sunscreen, & age appropriate skin care. Skincare is the foundation from which all our make-up can glow. BB Cream is kind-of like skincare. You can also mix up your own, by mixing your Foundation with your moisturizer, blending on your hand, to apply over your primed skin. Talk about glowing! It works wonders! Also, someone mentioned sunscreen , & I found Milani has a SETTING SPRAY with SPF30 in it. How cool is that! Also wanted to give a shout out to Amazon for offering every brand out there at 1/2 the price of Drugstores. Plus, there are many good Indy brands offered, too, to explore. Most items are returneable, if they don't turn out. Read the reviews to gain perspectives on the product, so you make a good choice.
I look forward to watching more of your video's.
    God bless - Cheryl

Thank you for including those of us with maturing skin (eyes, body....) Just turned 50. I use sunscreen every day (mostly) Olay Complete Daily Defense moisturizer (fragrance free). It has a little bit of a cast but it goes away. Have been using retinol for a year and it has been a big help. Both have really helped my fine lines and age spots fade. It took 3-5 months to be able to use retinol every day. I started with Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle repair (fragrance free) & now use Olay Retinol 24 MAX (fragrance free). Hoping to make it up to a prescription retinol product. Recently added the Eucerin CoQ10 fragrance free cream. It has made a big difference with my skin keeping moisture in.
As for makeup, I use a gray eyeliner under my top eyelashes, not in the waterline. It thickens the lash line without taking up real estate on the lid. I can do a little flick out at the end but nothing too big. Wayne Goss has a video (14 Oct 2022) about using a wet base and pressing your eyeshadow in. Has worked great so far with great color payoff and no creasing. I've been using L'oreal Age Perfect tinted balm to do Wayne's technique. I warm my eyelash curler briefly with the hairdryer and curl my eyelashes. It really helps to open up the eyes.
For my lips (because I love lippy) I use the Maybelline clear lip liner around the outside and along my lip line. You can use it on your whole lip for staying power. Really prevents lip products from going into any lines. The Maybelline Vinyl Ink lipsticks do not budge, even without lip liner and thankfully they're not matte. Hope that they increase their color offering. Another thing that really helps me is redefining my lips as Lisa Eldridge does in her (6 Nov 2020) video "My Lip Lift Technique - Makeup Tips for Happy Lips." I do not define my cupids bow as younger persons can, but just connect from one tip to the other to have a fuller top lip (since it seems like the first one to go.)
I started watching way back when you were doing makeup of the different eras and stayed. Thanks for your positive content.

I finallylearned that waterproof mascara is the biggest cause of lash fallout next to eyelash extensions!! Many mascaras are water-resistant & they do a fabulous job. They don't run down your face in the rain & take a little effort to remove. TRY & you might be surprised. I've been using Loreal Voluminous for years (regular formula not waterproof).

Thank you for this tutorial. I am 68 and have changed many things about my makeup routine and skin care. I find wearing foundation to be very difficult so I tend to use tinted moisturizers. I also use e.l.f. putty blushes and bronzers for eyeshadows. I love following you as I am also a redhead which feels sometimes like more of a "condition" than a description of hair color-lol but it is very helpful to have tips for redheads also.

I love Tarte tingle treatment.. I don't have acne. But, it does keep the dry dead skin off and makes makeup (and skin in general) looks so much better. I, also, use it on my special adult son for his acne. I can't even tell you how many bottles we have gone through. Its a wonderful product I follow with a thick vitamin C cream. I just turned 50.

Zabrena, your videos are always so thoughtful, and your shining personality and warmth really come through. I am so glad that you lined your eyes in this video with eyeshadow since I would prefer to line my eyes this way as well. I am one of your older subscribers and think that this method is gentler on mature eyelid skin. However, I am still using pencils and struggling, partially due to poor close vision and also eyelid skin that is no longer taught. Problem is, I have not found an eyeliner brush that works well with eyeshadow that is dry. I would prefer not to have to dampen the brush, and it looks like you did not do so in this video. I would really appreciate a recommendation for a brush that would work well either way - dry or dampened. I don't care if it's expensive since eyeliner is one of my most important eye makeup products. Your eyeliner looked beautiful in the look you achieved here. Also, always look forward to and appreciate your scriptural citations :)

This is a great video. You are aging so gracefully!! I am 36 so these tips are very helpful. Something I've started doing in the last year is dying my lashes and brows. Those spots always bleach a lot for me in the sun so dying them brings definition back to my face. If I want to skip makeup, I still look healthy and awake. Since you mentioned not using product on the lower lash line, dye might be a great option.

    Love and Blessings to You!

I am almost 56, I have never worn a lot of makeup, but my routine now is skin care first, then primer and mineral foundation. I don't like wearing blusher but will apply some lipstick to my cheeks sometimes and also sometimes some bronzer. My eyes I wear one colour most days over the lid but on special occasions I wear a shimmer type eyeshadow. Rarely wear mascara as it irritates my eyes but will wear a brownish coloured eye liner on the out part of my lower lash line and blend it out. It's what works for me these days. I will use a bb cream or tinted moisturiser on days I want a quick even finish to my skin.

My favorite foundation is the Smashbox halo tinted moisturizer. It has an spf in it and goes on a bit darker than you expect. As it dries down or you powder it, it lightens a bit. Long lasting and buildable to almost a medium coverage. Very hydrating too.

Have to thank you for your truly waterproof mascara testing video! I just had vacation and was trying to think what to bring and try for the beach and pool and remembered you did that video. I checked it out and got the exhibitionist waterproof (two stores to find the last one) and it was great with kids splashing me and nothing looking messy. It came off with Clinique take the day off balm pretty easily with gently rubbing too. Thank you - first one that actually made my lashes look good. Others are hard to apply clumpy and just not good.

I was interested in trying your tip concerning eliminating underlining the eyes. My waterline is pinkish and not lining it looked awkward. NYX to the rescue! Their jumbo eye pencil in the color Iced Latte is the perfect flesh tone. I swipe it on my waterline and it looks great. There is the slightest satin finish to the shadow so I think it even brightens the waterline.
