Hopefully she runs like a dog after a mail man
Thank the outboard God ....haha
Hahaha! Yeah Baby. Thanks for tuning in!
Nice job sir!
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
Great vlog look no more water leaking on the side and sounds awesome 😎 put it on the boat and fly around the lake again and swamp the jet skis 🤣😂🤣 catch you next time
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
I know you have told me you don’t like working on other people’s motors but I really could use your help I got money and I got several Johnson tiller motor s I’m looking to get my big twin 40 going I’m redoing a1962 Orlando clipper 14
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. If I can ever get caught up around here I may just take you up on it. I need to get this 55 done, then I told a friend I would look at his 9.5, so thats where I'm at right now, he was suppose to drop it off but I haven't heard from him. So hang in there! Lets see what happens. Thanks again !
I got .9.5 here I’d be willing to throw at you if needed
Runs just not really well leaks gas out the card I have a set of reeds for it just a thought
Carb
@@unclewill I'll keep that in mind. thanks !
Glad it was "fixed" with an adjustment, or went away on it's own. Waiting on the next vid!!
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
Not sure if you will see this but here goes. I have a salvage motor I've been messing around with only thing I know is it a johnson 15 hp based on the part numbers I can pull. 80' s or early 90's. After cleaning and rewiring, I can get it to start working the throttle wide open and choke half on, but drops out after I release throttle. Compression was, low 80 on both. Good spark and I installed new plugs. Any help would be great.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. I would start with the carb. The slow speed idle circuit could be clogged. The small holes inside the top of the throat just behind the butterfly. If they're clogged it wont idle. If need be check out my carb cleaning video. ruclips.net/video/401zCRctu1c/видео.html. Or there may be an air leak somewhere and thats no fun. Also check out leeroysramblings.com. Everything you ever need to know about these 15hp is at leeroys. That's where I learned everything. Curious to know how it goes. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Thanks for the direction. I went back over the carb but it was clear. Was doing a grease test to eliminate air leaks and found an elbow that looked glued back on the fuel pump so Im ordering a fuel pump and getting rebuild kit for the carb while Im at it.
I was thinking you got worms and we were going fishing
Lets Go!
Any chance its a whistle from an air leak? One thing I do to ELEIMINATE air leaks is using brake clean ( non-flamable ) NOT carb clean and shoot some around places like under the flywheel & where the case sealing surface's are...will significantly slow or even shut the motor off if its sucking that air & brake clean into the motor....of course if you let it in the carbs it will do the same
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! I hope not. Its something I created jacking up the timing. No more fast start simulations! Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Nice build, looking forward to cooler weather and this on the boat at some point. Was put a 350 Chevy engine in a truck all weekend almost stroked out at 103 in the garage. Stay cool 😎
Hahaha! I know what you mean! Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 I hope you’re okay we haven’t seen you in a while. I looked for a email address so I could send you some photos of a engine I picked up.
@@unsaltedlife5998 hey. yes I'm still alive ! yeah I need to get an email for TOO
My Man it’s been a few weeks are you ok starting to get worried
Hey. Thanks for checking in. Yeah, my birthday was labor day weekend so I thought I'd take a break for a week, then my phone started blowing up with work/jobs, then the rain every day screwed everything up and I haven't been able to catch a break! Hahaha but I did manage to get some video, should have it ready by friday. Thanks again & Stay tuned !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 Happy Birthday to you and sweetness I believe you put it in around your Birthday last year. Glad you all good friend and thank you for the entertainment and knowledge 👍🏻
I don't wanna say it sounds like a bearing but it sounds like a bearing. Maybe use a bit of garden hose as a stethoscope & try pin point the location down?
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting ! Yeah I thought that too, and did the hose thing, just blew my eardrum out even more.
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 lol ok. To me it sort of sounded like a crank shell spinning in its seat. I hope to hell its not as I feel you've had your fair share of murphy's law already. If you had the shells out maybe its just a little noise of them re-seating. All the best.
Can you put a washer on to keep the spring from going through
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting ! Good Idea !
That's the problem fishing with nightcrawlers... bluegills love them...
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
Hey man where have you been? Missing the vids!
Hey. Thanks for checking in. Got stuck working and all the rain screwed things up. Couldn't get anything done on time! Thanks again !
Good luck with the 🐍 can't wait to see the test drive
Hey. Thanks again !
We need updates on the 55
Hey. Thanks for checking in. I had a bunch of jobs come up and the rain is making things impossible. Can't catch a break! Gotta get er on the boat and in the water. Hang in there! Thanks again !
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 im working on a 50esl75b atm ur helping me with it im in the process of cleaning carby to see if it will start pick up boat and motor 1k
I seldom see someone such as yourself get so much pleasure out of doing something They really enjoy! . I’m an old varmint hunter trying to convert to fishing . I’ve seen people such as yourself at the range literally shooting at pencil dots ......honestly. . I would sight in and head to the field till I would just have to go back because of the long distances I was encountering, I would see those same people there with a different rig . I’d ask what happened to your rig ? They would say sold it now on to get this one perfected .... no joke .... it wasn’t the rig it was the quest to get it that accurate. I see a lot of you in them . Idk if all those motors are p I t b , I think you’re very good at what you do .
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting ! Stay tuned !
Are you strictly a Johnson/evinrude fan . Are they more dependable than the older mercury and Chrysler’s ?
Hey. Thanks for tuning in. Yes. If you notice, there's always more OMC outboards around than old mercury's. And parts are much easier to come by and not stupid expensive like merc's. Thanks again & Stay Tuned !
🙂 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks again !
Hope all is well. Been a minute since a video.
Hey Russ. Thanks for checking in. Yeah all is good. Had a lot of work come my way, got to take it when I get it and pay them bills! And the rain has been making it tuff to get things done. Anyway I'm still alive! Hahaha Thanks again & Stay tuned !
Hey brotha! Finally could tune in & see the latest saga. Good easy score on the worms! Damn- takes me longer to find lol. And, I know a thing or two about snake proofing lol- I used to keep them. Love the tech you show us! Learning more. And ya the camera picks up all the noise but at least we can hear ya! Unlike others and we miss important info. Keep em coming. With ya👍
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
That sounded like a bearing that’s lacking lubrication, but you proved that it wasn’t that. Maybe it was pre ignition from having the spark timing too far advanced, since the adjustments fixed it? Well, glad you got it sorted out anyway! The 55 is ready for action!
Hey Captain. Yeah some small stuff and out for a test run! Thanks again !
👍🏿
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
Engineers are always trying to improve things, so they take something that ain't broke and fix it... making it worse than before. Seen it done over and over and over again. You wish they would leave a well working, time proven design alone. Glad you were able to work around their "improvements" on this motor and get it working.
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
spay some wd 40 in carb well running
Thanks for the tip!
Sound frequencies do weird things and play tricks on you. They sometime combine and create new and additional sound. I call it the Barbershop Quartet Effect where you would sware there is one additional singer in the group. Pinpointing the soource of a noise iin an engine that generate so many different sounds is qyuite a challenge. If not impossible without a mechanic' stethoscope.
Hey. Thanks again for watching and commenting ! Yeah I tried the old hose trick, just blew my eardrums out even more! Thanks again !
Hunting a Stainless Steel prop for 40hp Johnson 2002, if anyone knows who might have one!!
Would like to get one of the older manufacturing date, better steel! As long as it can be reworked, please!!
did you try ebay and craigslist, offerup, & facebook marketplace
part #336491 is $7 and available (dwell link). the spring isnt much more.
Duh. I never said I needed a dwell link or spring. I know whats available. The part I need isn't. But it will pop up on ebay every blue moon.
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 i was just trying to help. assume you mean the guide 336456? might have one lying around.
@@ct1762 I know, just screwing with ya! A guy just had 4 of them on ebay, I missed it by 1 day. They sold fast! Thanks again !
I know what you mean some of these engineers I just want to horse whip thanks for the videos
Hey. Thanks again !
Cant wait to see the 55 on the boat! Just out of curiosity, do you run in-line fuel filters? I don't have one on my 70hp Johnside, aside from the little mesh screen in the fuel pump. Wondering if I should add one, or if it's not really necessary.
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting ! No I haven't lately but it's nice to have a clear one on it so to see the fuel flowing.
Put a spring on it
Hey. Thanks for tuning in!
Put the old timing light to it😂
Thanks again !
Maybe
Thanks !
If you keep walking around with no shirt on, that old lady is going to come back!!!!
Hahaha! I've been waiting for her! Thanks for tuning in!
the reason why the chirping went away is because you probably had a momentary loss of memory and tipped the bucket of worms down the throat of the carby and the baby birds are content until next time on this old outboard.
Hahaha. Probably ! Thanks again !
😁
Thanks again !
ps it might had a main reason they went bankrupt & the cv 19 killed even-rude engine being made! i bet my dead friends and uncle are roiling in there grave those merk's are Junk!! that what i heard every time fishing with them as one blew by!
Hey. Thanks for tuning in!
I cannot find a complete, assembled thermostat for my 1993 Johnson Outboards 9.9 [ J10RETM]?
All I've found was bits and pieces from Crowley. Can anybody help me find a completely assembled thermostat please?
www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php?year=1993&hp=9.9&model=J10RETM&manufacturer=Johnson§ion=Cylinder+%26amp%3B+Crankcase. Thanks !
Maybe reed valves?
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
You took it all apart sometimes running for a while till everything mesh’s into place will stop a slight chirp, I couldn’t even hear it!
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
I hope it’s gone for good but watch the video and I noticed 2 things , 1st the flywheel looks to be wobbling and 2nd the drive bendix was hoping up and down a few times when you revved it up . It could be the camera but watch on the video !id try a different flywheel if you had one . Sounds to me it increases as the RPM’s go up ! I could be way off base but check it out !
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting ! Yeah I've watched it a hundred times and noticed the flywheel looks a little warped. Don't have another one. It's going on the boat, maybe it will blow up! Hahaha
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 just a bit frustrated with it ? Lol. Don’t blame ya , some motors are meant to be just parts motors !
@@davekimbler2308 Hey. Glad your paying attention. My fault, hours of video, plus I had to work, and on top of everything I thought I was gonna die. Hahaha Long story, I'm still getting over it and no it wasn't the covid. Anyway, I'm pulling through. The video was suppose to show how I created the "noise" and then got rid of it. And it did, in a whacky kind of way. And the final cut was the final cut. I was lucky I even had done some video. I'll probably bring it up in the next video. We'll see. After all it is the real life saga! Captain Mayhem signing off!
@@THISOLDOUTBOARD1 👍
I think RMD 3d might be able to make you a new linkage part for teh 60. The 55 sounds good now, but in my experience, mystery chirps always seem to come back. Frustrating I'm sure. Good Luck with everyhing.
Hey. Thanks for tuning in! Yeah someone mentioned that before. I need to find out if someone locally can do it, then I won't have to ship it off and wait and all that stuff. Thanks again !
use a stethoscope.
Hey. Thanks for watching and commenting !
Just put it in the water
This week!
😂
Thanks !
