I use linkglide with XT M8130 derailleur. Can someone explain to me, what's the difference between CUES U6000 and RD-M8130SGS? Also, changing gears down the cassete is lightning fast on my setup.
The big question for me is can I use the new CUES cassettes with older 11 speed setup. So would a previous linkglide 10/11 speed shifter, derailleur, and chain work with a newer CUES 10/11 speed cassette? I'm assuming since the spacing is the same, it would be fine. I just want to be able to use a burlier steel cassette for durability.
Hi, i have sleep less night thinking of if shimano cues are compatible with other series like atus acera . Kinda mixmatch set up for lower speed. I hope u see my idea and i hope u can help me with that.
A mix and march between 11s components for sure, not only for the linkglide cassete and m5100 compatibility but also the other way around, using linkglide components with older generation "light-ish" cassettes, some sunrace 11-46 for example. It may not make sense with this particular derailleur, being high range, but it may be a good setup with a m5130 for example, if it works
Excellent video as my CUES 1X10 is in the mail now. Cannot wait to get it. Im a little qorry as my chain stay length is 425mm, hope there are no issues there
Started my installation and seems to be going good so far, just need to put the shifter on and cabling now. Thanks to your video made the installation so far very easy especially sizing the chain. Hope the remaining install all goes as smooth. Will keep you posted
@LoveMTB took it out for a test ride and not sure how it happened as the limit s were set correctly but the derailleur cage plate was totally bent by the chain and the chain all jammed up in the rear cage. Never had this happen before. Returned home and took cage plate off and bent it back. Shifting up gears is ok but shifting down 1 gear doesn't shift but need to shift 2 down and then 1 up. Not very impressed with it so far. I will change to new cable housings and also change the cable that came with the cues shifter as it has some greenish blueish coating that doesn't appear to be very friction free in the s himano housing I'm using.
Any other ideas to get better shifting (I already chrck my hanger is straight and also took a spacer out of the drive side of the bb sp the chainline is better)
I've already have my next Chinese 11-46 10sp 330g cassette at home, but since linkglide came out, I'm seriously considering selling it and going with Shimano overweight glide technology. 😋 I think this is really what industry needed. Less waste, more reliability and durability. But I think I'll grab OEM xt linkglide rear derailleur at a bargain price, instead of going for cues derailleur and shifter.
@@LoveMTB well, i would till recently too. But I've found out the main slop source between 6000 and xt and up, is the hanger bolt in the derailleur. I've seen this video, where the guy recommended changing the bolt in a 6000 deore, to eliminate slop in this area. Bolts from xt are not easy to find, and those little parts are rarely economical, plus slop also comes from glide bearings in jockey wheels. So I get OEM 11sp xt with tighter tolerancesc@ hanger, sealed bearings in jockeys, for 46,3$ Inc shipping, and I can choose 10sp or 11sp overweight glide cassette. I currently run 10sp, so I think I'll finish current drivetrain and swap to 11sp. XT purchased. The rest will wait
I was considering buying this to upgrade my Deore fatbike 1x10 drivetrain. Shifting under load is always so-so on the old Deore 10spd. It works but just clunky. I'm also not concerned about the weight as much on my 38lb fatty.
@@LoveMTB Great point! Rust is def an issue with transporting on salty roads, and just nasty winter conditions in general. Regardless it does seem like this drivetrain would probably suit the high torque low rpm nature of fatbiking.
Nice.... I think Shimano has made a good choice with drop bar brifters and road bike components coming soon. With much less stock to keep in the inventory going forward because of the common pull ratio and modularity of the design another obvious advantage. I would use those cranks with a narrow wide single chainring and go ten or eleven speed on my hardtail using linkglide and U6000 CUES components. I think the new crank design is excellent with the whole CUES line-up a winner. The linkglide cassette shifts slightly slower than Hyperglide plus but the added strength and longevity would make the shifts a moot point. The new modular CUES components are very robust and definitely a huge step up over Acera with a definite push towards the higher end of the component line rather than the lower end. I haven't seen much if anything on anyone using or reviewing the new Shimano sealed bearing hubs yet as they are a complete change of mindset for Shimano. I love the U8000 brakes it looks like Shimano has hit it out of the park again. With some Suntour Epixon front forks any build starts to become a great build with recreational riding and value for money in mind using CUES. 😎🇦🇺👍
I would have loved to see the 11-51 Teeth cassette from M5100 make a Linkglide comeback, but I think that it won't be missed too much considering the already high count of Teeth at 50.
And that's why I keep 11 speed M5100 cassettes stocked up. They are going to disappear eventually. I can tell the difference between a 51T low and a 50T low, and with a 28T chainring already, going smaller upfront isn't really an option.
Hello, are the cues u6000 compatible with non other cues parts? Basically I want to upgrade a mid-tier bike. My current crankset is just some cheap 1x 32tooth square taper Crankset ( i alos want to upgrade to hollowtech II), pared with a KMC Z9 Chain. both cranksets have 32 Teeths and are the same height. but i dont have hyperglide or linkglide. and my cassette is a 9 speed microshift cassette. will the crankset skip my chain while riding? Are the teeths on the shimano different than on the cheaper crankset by meroca?
im considering going from T type x0 to CUES or Linkglide. What do you think? I might send the t type to my enduro acoustic bike. And get the heavy duty on the EP8 bike... would you agree?
Hi, has anyone tried combining the U6000 with M4100 , if so, is there a difference between the cues switch and the m4100, does the m 4100 shifter just look more interesting or is the m4100 not very suitable for this?
Have I seen Unior tools wrench in your hand. Well that is an old company from Slovenia very well known for quality tools ever since Yugoslavia time, which I barelly remember as a small kid. I still remember my fathers Unior tool box made of metal. Their tools are really quality ones, shortly tools for life.
This makes sense to me. I have zero need of a 10 tooth sprocket on my 12 speed shimano cassette. The durability would be really welcome too. I seem to a go through an XT or SLX cassette once per season. Seems silly and I don't really care about weight on my trail bike. But, I watched your video on using AXS with Shimano 12 speed and now I'm hooked (BTW, you never did a follow up after that video. Are you still running AXS with Shimano?)
Requiring a crank puller is a step backwards. Not really sure what Shimano is doing lately. I suppose this a more recreational group set where users aren’t likely to be wrenching their own bikes. 🤷♂️ Love my XT stuff for the most part but Shimano is slipping more and more rapidly. SRAM really pulled the rug out with UDH.
I installed the cues u6000 groupset and I can tell you I'm not impressed. The cable, its housing are new, tuned rear derailleur correctly and still I don't like it. the shifter feels like tourney, the derailleur has a play, the cassette is way too heavy and made from cheap metal=washed it with the gasoline and let it dry for a day. and the rust spots came up)
Washed with gasoline??? Why? Groupset works well for us we put it through the ringer in the last few weeks, so far so good. Materials, finish, not XT/ XTR quality but it is not supposed to be and price reflects that also.
As a mechanic, it's always funny to see, how some people " calculate" the length of the chain😁👍‼️ I even don't try to understand the math, of adding 5 to 6 links or 6 to 7 links. From what reference line? From witch position? Rear Derailleur cage 90 degrees? (doesn't matter at all!)??????? In work education school for mechanics, to install a chain properly, you always start with small - small, before cutting, try big - big ( 3 ring crankset 😂). And your adding mathematics, is only nessesery with Full suspension bikes, and I only do it at my DH Bike. Otherwise, the capacity of the rear Derailleur " makes" it for us. Especially, since 1 x anything 😁😎😁😎😂😂‼️
I know it might look funny but It works! Definitely on a HT it’s bulletproof. On a FS is a good starting point sometimes you have to cut a couple more links but otherwise spot on😊
tip for better shifting on long therm: immediately throw away the stock shimano green inner cable and replace it with a good quality, stainless, grinded one.
I really like how people barelly use old stuff that works instead of the old stuff, that was really good a while ago, much cheaper and that in many parts of the world would be right way to go, because a carbon expensive bike is really not what you need, when you barely have roads without asphalt. :))). World under bubbles. Rich vs poor, the ugly truth. I'd literally have to do a train ride every weekend for such stuff, while going to the supermarket for shopping is definitely overkill this, if you want to also take into account possible thieves.
I got a neighbour kid, that barelly afford stuff over 500$, What does that kid need for dropping stairs in the city, posibly o good steel sturdy frame, a 3x8 shimano altus (old school derraileur with big wheels, that's very good at holding the chain) and steel spoked wheels, maybe not even disk brakes. And we're talking about taking people based on bubbles and dreams, new stuff all the time.
I bet my money that a 1x9 CUES would serve that kid better, this is a good advancement of tech. And nothing wrong with setting up a 1x10 with 11-36T cassette and Zee derailleur for peanuts it would work just amazingly well😊
@@LoveMTB Yeah, if he'd have the money to maintain it. It doesn't matter that the technology is good if the money are not there. We are talking parents that may have less 2000$ a month, probably a second hand car to maintain and 2 kids. I do have a beefed up Rockrider st520, basically a frame with enduro wheels si rockshox xc30, everything upgraded as cheap as possible, with as much budget for learning. It's an all around bike that takes 170kg on it when going shopping. Do you want to know why I don't go 1x9? A 1x9 chain is almost twice as expensive as an 1x8, A chainring is almost as priced as a 3x crankset. The only problem I have, and it's annoying, is that somehow, in traffic, when switching chainrings, the chain itself gets stuck to the chainring and pulled up. But that's also because I keep stuff a bit dirty.
What this kid would actually need is a cheap 1by8 system, possibly one of those chainrings with 2 plastic guards. The biggest problems, however, is that he needs good wheels, and these chinese ZTTO enduro are crazy good for me, but at 130$, he wouldn't even think about it.
It's going to be hard to change my mental automatism, it's been 40 years that I've learned to ease up on pedals while shifting. As usual, the people who know "how to" get worse stuff forced down their throat to help people who have no clue. It's happened with cars too, that's why they are so boring now.
I have had issues with the Shimano, I broke a couple chains, this is the third one Shimano I´m using and also the connecting rod teeth got damaged, so I am replacing the crank set. This is weird as per I have roden for around 1000 Km! Any advice?

I use linkglide with XT M8130 derailleur. Can someone explain to me, what's the difference between CUES U6000 and RD-M8130SGS?
Also, changing gears down the cassete is lightning fast on my setup.
Never had one in my hand but I assume it is materials and weight and ability to adjust the clutch without removing the cover and...that should be it!
Linkglide to linkglide yes, it works. Linkglide/ CUES to old stuff not so much, more to come on that soon!
Im a little qorry as my chain stay length is 425mm, hope there are no issues there
Let us know how you like it!🤘
Started my installation and seems to be going good so far, just need to put the shifter on and cabling now.
Excelente !!!! Can I use a chainring
different from Shimano cues?
Yes you can!
I've already have my next Chinese 11-46 10sp 330g cassette at home, but since linkglide came out, I'm seriously considering selling it and going with Shimano overweight glide technology. 😋
I think this is really what industry needed. Less waste, more reliability and durability.
But I think I'll grab OEM xt linkglide rear derailleur at a bargain price, instead of going for cues derailleur and shifter.
That’s an option as well, but XT 8120 and Cues uses same te h, I would grab the XT shifter and everything else Cues 😉
@@polishguywithhardtospellna8227 let me know how you like the end result!
Im planning to use a m6100 rd, m5100 shifter and a u6000 11speed cassette should work. Probably.
Might not work to your liking be ready for that
@lovemtb Why is that? Is there anything i could change to make it work better?
I was considering buying this to upgrade my Deore fatbike 1x10 drivetrain. Shifting under load is always so-so on the old Deore 10spd. It works but just clunky. I'm also not concerned about the weight as much on my 38lb fatty.
This would be close to perfect Just maintain that chain after each ride especially that LG500 chain is prone to rust!
@@LoveMTB Great point! Rust is def an issue with transporting on salty roads, and just nasty winter conditions in general. Regardless it does seem like this drivetrain would probably suit the high torque low rpm nature of fatbiking.
For sure, it is what it was designd for@@rpiian
Is there a way to install a Shimano cues of any style onto a flip flop hub?
😎🇦🇺👍
Have not seen those hubs either! But once you get into that there's soo much competition already, it's not even funny
I just built a winter beater bike with the 10 speed and 11-48 cassette. It definitely feels slower. But it works fine, most consumers won't even care
Huge majority won't notice either!
Slower compared to what ?
@JitinMisra slower shifting compared to something like a GRX or Deore setup
Hi LoveMTB! Is a cues shifter compatible with deore m6100?
No it's not I have a compatibility video you might want to check out - ruclips.net/video/MV2O3XBSwZ4/видео.html
Hi, what BB do you recommend in the mid/high level for a shimano 12s with SLX crankset, thanks.
The bb mt93 or bb mt800 are good. I think that the mt93 have better seals
Good day...I bought 9speed cues u3020 is possible to use 10speed cogs and 10speed shifter?
I would have loved to see the 11-51 Teeth cassette from M5100 make a Linkglide comeback, but I think that it won't be missed too much considering the already high count of Teeth at 50.
This CUES lineup will eventually REPLACE that Deore, and I think they want to keep it different than the 51T that 12s goes up to.

Hi, has anyone tried combining the U6000 with M4100 , if so, is there a difference between the cues switch and the m4100, does the m 4100 shifter just look more interesting or is the m4100 not very suitable for this?
Is it worth upgrading from Shimano Deore M5100 11 speed?
What are you hoping to get? Upgrade wise…
My answer would be NO, unless you have an e-bike.

YES! I get whatever I can from them as they are quality and last for ever!
Thanks👍👍👍
This makes sense to me. I have zero need of a 10 tooth sprocket on my 12 speed shimano cassette. The durability would be really welcome too. I seem to a go through an XT or SLX cassette once per season. Seems silly and I don't really care about weight on my trail bike. But, I watched your video on using AXS with Shimano 12 speed and now I'm hooked (BTW, you never did a follow up after that video. Are you still running AXS with Shimano?)
I do not as I’m always testing new things. However there are quite a few folks that I know running it successfully both on bikes and e-Bikes
If you are burning through SLX and XT cassettes, try a Deore cassette with all steel cogs.
Durability for ebike
Thanks fo rmovie. Shifting down is not as bad as i thought. I can't wait till I check 11 speed XT version ;)
It’s not bad at all but noticeable. However shifting under power (try a start) it has this positive clunk that I kind of like🤓
@@LoveMTB I like it also in my current 8100 groupset, so I can't wait even more ;)
Requiring a crank puller is a step backwards.
It does feel that way doens't it?
👍
Now, there is a Cues rear hub. 😊
Shimano CUES U6000 is that can use on normal mtb bike.such as evil.ibis .merida one forty

As a mechanic, it's always funny to see, how some people " calculate" the length of the chain😁👍‼️
I even don't try to understand the math, of adding 5 to 6 links or 6 to 7 links.
On a FS is a good starting point sometimes you have to cut a couple more links but otherwise spot on😊
I don't want this confused cues stuff. I just bought an XT setup and will continue to just get SLX or GX or above.
It's not for the XT market...ebikes and mid/ entry level
tip for better shifting on long therm: immediately throw away the stock shimano green inner cable and replace it with a good quality, stainless, grinded one.
Galvanized cables might rust but they keep operating smoother for longer if you keep them lubricated.
@@LaurentiusTriarius it wasn't a classic tech tip. it was about the shitty stock, layered shimano cable that might be designed by sram. :)

Eew. So much wrong with this drive train and it cost more than deore at the moment 😅
It’s not good for racing because it shifts slowly.
I have a vid about those....great value!@@cyberalex4life
It's going to be hard to change my mental automatism, it's been 40 years that I've learned to ease up on pedals while shifting. As usual, the people who know "how to" get worse stuff forced down their throat to help people who have no clue. It's happened with cars too, that's why they are so boring now.
This is actually a step forward. And it makes a real difference on e-bikes not me and you peddling
