      @ThePaulromi disk to digital lets you recognize in the kscape system that you own a copy of this movie and they sell you a digital version for a discount.

      It depends on the studio. Many are that inexpensive. Other though, not so much. Some studios are stingy and only give a few dollars off the regular price.

    i wanted to come back and talk about your last point of cycling content. I now do this! The prime server downloads so fast, this has totally become the way I use it. Also since the movie wall is sucky with movie management, it works best to not have all my movies in the server. i keep about 90 on there (now up to 200 movies total)

      Nice! I'm comfortable with 12TB of storage despite having like 1,400 movies.

    Another awesome tips and tricks post to the channel. Great job, as always Jaremy. One feature I turned OFF (which previously was on), was the feature which automates the sizing of of our screen from 16:9 to 2:35:1. In day to day usage, this can get very tedious. In our theater, it's common to watch a short movie clip or scene. Having our mask open wide and then move back to 16:9 back and forth during scene previews can be irritating. It's better to just adjust your mask when you know you'll be watching a complete movie.

      @Techthusiasm  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks! Yep, I don't use that either any more for the same reason. Automation stuff like that sounds cool at first and works well in limited cases, but then utterly falls apart in real world use.

    That is some good information. Most of these can be accomplished on a Zidoo if your bucks don’t get to Kscape level. Kscape does it slightly more elegantly. Also the light control is available to home assistant if you have a Kscape but don’t have a savant or control4. Just hoping this info helps someone with this use case.

      @@TechthusiasmIt help me because I have the Zidoo Z2000 pro with an 150 Terabytes NAS. With 250 ripped UHD Bluerays and 150 3D Bluerays, which Kscape doesn't support.

      No 3D on Kaleidescape, correct.

    Great video. For cataloging, I noticed you’re showing a compact USB Bluray drive. Is that bus powered? What model is that? I thought you can only use a Bluray drive that uses a power supply.

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  9 месяцев назад +1

      With my testing, I have found success using a slim bus powered drive itself. K doesn't recommend this though, so try it at your own risk. I still continue to use the same slim drive, but it has a Y-cable on it. One cable goes to the Strato for data and the other is plugged into a socket strip with a USB mini charger brick for extra power.

      @@Techthusiasm Good to know that slim drives are still usable so long as the power is separate

    Couple Questions: My movie wall is quite sad with 3 movies repeated over and over. I don’t plan to use K for more than 10-12 movies a year though, so I’d like to set it so it doesn’t repeat the movies on the wall. Is that possible?
    For integration, none of my active systems can integrate with K but I’m considering running home assistant for specific integrations. I know they have a K plugin but I don’t know if it can do the auto aspect stuff. That would be cool if I could automate that. Right now I’ve got the masking system and projector integrated so it’s not a big deal to do it manually but the cool factor of having it happen automagically is definitely appealing.

      There is no way to disable the cover wrapping. That behavior is a defined part of the movie wall design.

    Can you make a video on how to delete movies from the server and have them in the cloud.I only want to keep lastest stuff on the server...Thanks

    • @Techthusiasm
      @Techthusiasm  11 месяцев назад

      Noted. There's not much to it, really. You can delete right off player UI options when go into a movie. Your purchases are resident in your account all the time, so you can kick off a new download whenever you like.

      You can access your account, and thus your entire movie library, in the app or the Kaleidescape web page or in the Store portion of the on-device UI. The phone app is really great. One of the best AV apps out there.

      Oh, gotcha. You can own unlimited content in your store account and freely download, delete locally, and redownload again at will. You only need to maintain enough storage for however much content you want to immediately watch without downloading, hence the appeal of the new Strato V. If you want to discuss more, reach out to me at jaremy@techthusiasm.net.
