Most quotable movie ever - gets funnier every time you watch it
I agree! 😂
I'm willing to bet I've heard pretty much every line in this movie (or at least the vast majority) made reference to in different contexts. It's really quite remarkable the following this has accumulated over the years. Maude is probably my favorite. Something about that accent never fails to crack me up. "He's a good man...........and thorough" is something I've used with friends and family quite a few times. I love the part when she's watching Bunny's movie, she turns around and goes "the STORY is ludicrous". Her character is so funny to me and fits perfectly with the whole noir mystery thing.
I had heard this quoted for years before I first saw it about 10 years ago. I remember when I watched it the first time suddenly realizing that I had heard some of the lines used by people at work over the years and had no idea. 😂
That's so funny! I'm going to have to rewatch to catch all those.... - Toni
He fixes the cable? Is a great wise ass crack also.
I think I heard or read somewhere that Julianne Moore came up with that accent. She said Maude would've gone to school in Switzerland so she would have this chi-chi European accent.
@leroylowe5921 she was sooooo funny what a great cast period!!
Excellent selection, guys! So much great trivia behind this one, so many reasons to watch it again. I don't know how long it took me to realize that Brandt and the Stranger show respect to the Dude that other people don't, simply by calling him "Dude."
This movie is the kind that you stop and watch from any point, if you just stumble onto it.
This is definitely a classic that i can see us watching again! 😃
This is my all time favorite movie, I’ve seen it so many times, but the best line came when Toni asked you “what are they doing” and you said straight faced “they’re cleaning their balls” 🤣🤣🤣☺️
David is so funny! 😂 - Toni
"What are they doing?"
"Cleaning their balls."
😂
😂 - Toni 😵💫
That ash-scattering will forever be the funniest thing I've seen in my life. Punctuated by heartbreak. What a movie.
This video is just like your opinion man
The Dude abides!
Miller’s Crossing ( 1990 ) is a great and underrated Coen Bros film. It’s fantastic.
Thank you, I have added to our list. I hope it's a comedy. 😁 - Toni
@@popculturallychallenged There is certainly a bit of dark humour. Great cast and it’s like a Noir Gangster film with a Coen Bros edge. It’s one of their earlier films and was overshadowed by Goodfellas which came out the same year. The brothers more serious films are excellent, and they are great at comedy when they write those types of film. They have a great filmography and you both would enjoy all of their films. Some more than others of course.
I’ll be watching and keep up the great reactions.
Sam Elliott, the one with the mustache, is one hunk of a man. Your wife can see him in 'Road House' 1989 with Patrick Swayze. 'Tombstone' 1993 and 'Gettysburg' 1993, enjoy.
I think Sam Elliott and Russell Crowe are her new channel crushes. Thanks for the suggestions! 😂
@@popculturallychallenged Russell Crowe, then 'A Beautiful Mind' 2001 also with Jennifer Connelly and 'Cinderella Man' both movies have Russell Crowe. I think she would enjoy both, and both are true stories.
Oh my gosh...her face when Bunny offers to accommodate the Dude for $1000! I am just really glad I was not drinking coffee at that moment.😜😂
That was a great reaction! One great thing about making these videos is that I get to see her facial expressions when I do the edit! 😂
The Dude abides.

He needs some different friends. 😂

Why wouldn’t he? It really tied the room together.
I've seen this film many times and laugh more each time. I love it. I don't know how but watching you two react made it even funnier. Your interaction with each other is great.
Thank you @Flora Levario!! We enjoyed the movie too. Thank you for watching with us. - Toni
" What do you need that for, Dude? " - Theodore Donald Karabatsos
😂
Shutter Island is an absolute mind-blowing good movie and is perfect for your " I don't know" drinking game".
Thanks for the suggestion! 😃
"It really tied the room together, man!"
I'm not generally into comedies, for much similar reasons as the Missus; to _be_ comedies they have to throw common sense out the window, which lessens my enjoyment. That said, even I love this movie. 😀
The only other Coen Brothers movie I can name off the top of my head is _Fargo,_ which is--a movie. It's a lot like this movie--ultimately, it's a comedy, but it's--weird. Weird in a good way, I'd say, but definitely--weird. 🙂
Looking at a list--The Missus might also like _O Brother, Where Art Thou._ Most of the others I haven't even heard of, much less seen.
And man, _Saving Private Ryan._ That's certainly a movie. I'm not going to spoil anything about it, but--it's certainly a movie.
We're definitely going to have to check out some other Coen Brothers movies. I've only seen Fargo and Raising Arizona. Raising Arizona is one of my favorite comedies so I'm hoping to introduce Toni to it at some point on the channel. As for Saving Private Ryan, we're hoping to watch that at some point soon. 😃
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man."
Fun Fact: With the exception of The Dude (Jeff Bridges) helping Maude (Julianne Moore) bowl in a fantasy, The Dude is never actually seen bowling once.
The Real Dude Fact: A lot of the Dude's clothes in the movie were Jeff Bridges's own clothes, including his Jellies sandals, which he reportedly still owns and uses to this very day.
Big Paraquat Fact: In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, John Goodman stated that The Dude (Jeff Bridges) referring to The Big Lebowski (David Hiddleston) as a "human paraquat" was one of the only improvised lines to make it into the final film. Virtually every other line was scripted.
Oh wow! I thought there would have been a lot more improvised lines in this! 😂
Indeed! 🤣
Go in Peace and Walk with God. 😎 👍
@@BigGator5 That's a sign of great writing!
Those aren't dreams, by the way. They're "acid flashbacks". It happens sometimes when someone has done a lot of hallucinogens in their lives. When there's an injury to the head or spine, you'll sometimes go back into a hallucination state. Things could be a lot worse, I tell you that. Plus, it's free! 😂
1:03 "don't try to make this make too much sense."
excellent description
I think I'm going to start telling Toni that on any movie that she'll need to suspend her disbelief on. 😂
Yahhhhhoooooo!!! My favourite film ever. Just a character avoiding the story set out infront of him. The dude is my idol, for better or worse
This was a great movie!
4:05 - She: "The door opens the wrong way. Doesn't it ?"
He: "I don't know." - Hahahaha.
I'm sure it opened the wrong way.... right? - Toni
@@popculturallychallenged - I thought it very observant of you, Toni, to see that the door opened the wrong way. But it struck me especially because later in the movie, the Dude attempts to block that same door by wedging a chair. And because of that outward opening door his plan fails. My assumption was that David made the link immediately as well, and his "I don't know" was the first of his evading answers. But it could be that he had forgotten that the door would feature again later on. [edited for typo]
The thing is, Lebowski not being crippled was the one thing Walter got wrong. Bunny DID sort of kidnap herself, it wasn't her toe, and he correctly assessed Donny's condition at the end.
It's the Dude who told Walter that Bunny probably "kidnapped herself".
And here's two more times Walter was wrong or had monumentally stupid ideas: When he thought he'd be able to grab one of the supposed kidnappers and beat the truth out of him (instead he dove out of the driver's seat of a moving car, setting off the automatic firearm he'd stuffed into a duct-taped package); and when he destroyed a brand new Corvette because he thought it belonged to Larry Sellers (in reality there had never been any money for Larry to have stolen and the Corvette belonged to a random person).
He did make the wrong call with the Corvette too. 😃
@@popculturallychallenged D'oh! Yes, that was another very wrong move. How did I let that slip by me? okay, Walter was Mostly Wrong.
i say "well dude, we just don't know" almost daily
😂
The rings Jesus wears are for high bowling scores, likely for perfect 300 games.
Great reaction! Cheers from Hart, Michigan.
Thanks! That's cool! I wondered why he had so many rings. 😂
The thing I always thought was funny is that the Dude could have avoided every bit of that trouble with a bottle of rug shampoo and a garden hose.
I thought it just trouble just found him. 🤣 - Toni
very true. if a dog peed on the rug you wouldn't toss the rug, right?
@YoureMrLebowski of course not, it really tied the room together! 😂 -David
Good reaction.
The best description I ever saw for this is that it's a movie in search of a plot and the dude wants no part of that, man.
Thank you! I think that description is fitting! 😂
19:36 "Why?"
because he's a good man. and thorough.
That scene reminded me that I need to show Toni "Fletch" at some point. 😂
Jeff Bridges' father was Lloyd Bridges.
Oh Cool! I didn't know that! - Toni
@@popculturallychallenged Lloyd Bridges starred in a TV series "Sea Hunt," and I spotted an episode in passing on youtube.
Lloyd was also in "High Noon".
Love the maiden shirt, I had a bunch in the 80s
Thank you!
Now you've got me saying, I don't know first 🤣😂
😂 - Toni
She is precious
You're sweet... 🥰. - Toni
Best "I don't know" drinking games will come from movies like Fight Club, 12 Monkeys and stuff like that. Or you could try Master and Commander and see how many things on the ship she asks about. LOL
Thanks for the suggestions! I know she's interested in Master and Commander so we might try to watch that one soon. Ever since Gladiator she's had a crush on Russell Crowe. 😂
@@popculturallychallenged For other great Russel Crowe possibilities...Cinderella Man and A Beautiful Mind. 👍
For the really brave, the best idk movies would be pretty much anything by Neil Breen.
18:39 toni's a hugger 🤗
I never knew she had a thing for Sam Elliot!
“Cleaning their balls.” 😅
😅 is right….. 😳 - Toni
'Dodgeball;A TRUE UNDERDOG STORY'.
I haven't seen that one in years! Toni's never seen it so maybe someday we'll try to watch it.
Ya’ll have a really nice rapport as a couple, and I love your Iron Maiden shirt:) Awesome reaction:)
Thank you! 😃
An IDK drinking game movie would be Fight Club or Inception
Thanks for the suggestions! 😃
That’s a really funny movie!

As Always Love Seeing Your Reactions To All These Great Movie's
Thank you! 🥰
@@popculturallychallenged You're Welcome 🤗
So glad you got a comedy...
So was Toni. 😃 We've started Band of Brothers and I think we're going to have to mix in more comedies along the way for her. 😢
Actually, Walter has Gun shop. You can see it when Dude pick him up in front, as he go to deliver money. Thats why Walter had Uzi.
Danny, its not sure. Only one without job for sure is Dude.
Originally, he supposed to have herritage money, but then they have decided to leave that out.
That makes sense! Thanks!
I never tire of this film , the Dude and Walter are opposites in temperament this adds to the comedy and Donnie is always ten mins behind in any conversation , Maude , Jesus and the narrator are also quirky characters , so many quotable lines "but like thats just my opinion man". 😄 Coen bros films are always worth a look. Jeff Bridges was perfectly cast, the brothers talked to his wife when writing the script and alot of Jeff is in the Dude and his clothes were all Jeff's .
I agree! This movie was so much fun! 😂
THE TRUMAN SHOW, LAST OF THE MOHICANS, THE GAME
Thanks for the suggestions!
At least I'm housebroken is a useful one if someone's complaining about something you do.
😂 I'll have to remember that. - Toni
Dude... a series of unfortunate events :)
Good description! 😂
Great reaction, guys!
Thank you! 😃
More comedies for Toni. her reaction to several points in this classic was to die for. Especially when the cigarette blows back into the car. And when the ashes blows back on Walter at the beach. Toni must see "Raising Arizona" It's me and my moms favorite comedy we watched it every year for 15 years striaght when I lived close to her. ------- I know for sure you will never see any movie like "Raising Arizona".
Thank you! Raising Arizona is one of my favorites that I'm hoping to show Toni soon on the channel! 😃
Memento could be a good drinking game movie

This movie is so '90's LA....anyone who lived here 30 years ago knows what I'm talking about.

Memento for the drinking game!

Thanks! Yes, it was a blu ray rip.
Maybe Inception is a good movie for the "I don't know" drinking game?
That would be a good one! 😂
If you really want to buy the sweater the company who makes it reissued it after this movie. It's called the Pendleton Westerley. It's very nice. I own one. It's expensive. But if you watch for sales you can find it 30%-50% off.
Oh nice! I looked it up and you're not kidding.. $250... Do you happen to know who has sales on it usually and what time of the year? Might be something I'd like to get at some point. Looks comfortable! 😎
How about seeing another Coen Bros movie: Tom Hanks and Goldie Hawn in "Saving Private Benjamin"? ;-)
Thanks for the suggestion! I don't think either of us have ever seen that one. 😃
I Dunno Drinking Game: Mulholland Drive (or any David Lynch film) 😆

Who really loves Walter in this movie?
He was pretty intense. 😂
Love Walter and the entire cast. John Turturro as "the Jesus" instead of pronouncing it in Spanish as "hey-zeus" and being such a nutcase in the bowling lane next to the Dude and friends.
@@popculturallychallenged Calmer than you are, dude. Walter's just enjoying his coffee in the family restaurant, on the backs of those bright, flowering young men who gave their lives at Khe Sanh, at Lan Doc, at Hill 364.
See "Miller's Crossing".
Hi @J Nagarya! Thank you, we will add that to our list. Is it a comedy too? - Toni
