The flash of lightning from Maurice's spell on Adam may seem hokey today but back in the day that was the magic of television. In the eyes of an 8 year old it was great.
Not only did Maurice dress like an aristocrat, he spoke like someone from Shakespeare or Ben Franklin's time, perfect diction. The witches hierarchy,, Queen Tichaba and High Priestess Hepzibah also had a high regard for Samantha, despite her mortal marriage. But to Sam, her first responsibility was to her family. For that reason she stood up to the the Council more than once. I think that's one thing that Endora could jever understand, her daughter's independence. Even Darrin knew just how far he could push before Sam pushed. She hated being yelled at.

Nice room for a little boy. I love it when Tabitha comes downstairs and greets her grandfather and tells him she always know him when he's there by his voice and how loud it is. 😀 That's Tabitha, she tells it like it is. I love this episode. Notice how Sam and Endora greeted the other witches. Also I love how Sam explained to Darrin how important it is to nourish the talents of a child, whether it's music, singing, writing, etc., and if could be harmful if not done. Witchcraft is a talent, too. I also like Darrin's response, "If you're married to a witch, I guess it's logical." What I love most is Sam's involvement in the testing of her son, unlike Tabitha. You can see the pride in a mother for her son as she was with Tabitha. The theme here, for me, allow someone to be who they really are and also respect the wishes of the parents. Sam and her people have to live incognito because the mortal world fears what it doesn't understand. As Sam told Tabitha in NOBDY'S PERFECT, the mortal world may never he ready for our kind of people. Again, acceptance.

You'll notice the set for Adam's nursery is similar to Tabitha's nursery but not exactly the same. The nursery and Darrin's den were the same set with paneling and a fireplace added to create the den and removed to expose the painted walls and window area of the nursery (a false wall was inserted to conceal the door to the kitchen). In 1970 a fire destroyed portions of the set including the den/nursery and the kitchen. Production moved to Massachusetts for several episodes with the Stephens visiting Salem while the sets were rebuilt. The rebuilt sets featured a larger kitchen with breakfast area and staircase; the den/nursery was squared-off whereas the original had angled walls. The fire also consumed most of Elizabeth Montgomery's dressing room which had been filled with irreplaceable mementos, fortunately the door to the dressing room which featured autographs from guest stars was spared.

As far as I know, this is the only episode that shows Adam with any powers at all. The later TV program, "Tabitha" has the kids as adults and Adam is very much a mortal. I watched that program every week, hoping Samantha and Darrin would show up (they never did) but a few episodes would show Dr. Bombay and he was updated - on the program he said he married a mortal woman and she very much enjoyed it when he used his powers!
It is explained in episode 14 in the 8th season: Plot. Samantha's aunts, Grimalda and Enchantra, come to test whether Adam has magic powers. If Adam is mortal, they threaten to dissolve Samantha's marriage which means that Darrin himself will be dissolved. However, Adam proves to have some magical talent, therefore the Stephenses' marriage and Darrin are saved.
No, Samantha named her son. Darrin wanted to name him after his father, but his father didn't want the baby called "Little Frank". So Maurice said the baby could be named after him until Samantha said everyone would end up calling him "Maury" then her father wasn't pleased with that. So Samantha said she liked the name "Adam" and everyone eventually agreed.
So....did Adam really have powers of his own? Or was this only Maurice's spell on him? On the Bewitched Wiki it reads: In the episode "Adam, Warlock or Washout?", it is discovered that Adam has supernatural powers. Apparently, Adam's powers were latent very deeply inside him. At first, Adam was thought to be a normal mortal human. He tested out as "mortal" during the same test that had proved that Tabitha was a witch. Adam's maternal grandfather, Maurice, cast a spell upon Adam by using a shell. The "shell" spell ended up releasing Adam's latent powers that were there the entire time. Adam then immediately began his "wishcraft" - just as Tabitha had done when her powers first awakened.
Pity this was almost a complete remake of the third episode of season three, Witches and Warlocks Are My Favorite Things, in which Tabitha’s powers are tested. Endora, Hagatha, and Enchantra decide to take her away as well, change Samantha’s, Darrin’s, and Clara’s voices, then are overpowered by Maurice.
But in that episode, Hagatha and Enchantra changed Darrin's, Samantha's and Clara's voices into those of tweeting birds, while in this one, Grimalda and Enchantra changed Darrin's voice into that of a barking dog.
This is Endora Husband in the Show and Adam and Tabitha have special Powers because Others are warlocks , Because Samantha and Serena are Cousins played by Elizabeth Montgomery tho ,and Darren too a different actors this was in the 1900-1969 Love this
Maurice was handsome. I always liked Tabitha, but that Adam kind of annoyed me. He acted like he wasn't too bright. Adam did have powers of his own at the end of this ep. Maurice had removed his spell. That would be awful to be mortal when your sib and mom has full powers. Plus they don't age until thousands of years. I liked Dick York. The second Darrin was always grouchy and rarely smiled.
Dick York played his angry scenes very broadly and comically while Dick Sargent (the producer's original choice for the role but he was unavailable at the time) played his angry scenes more realistically which didn't suit the tone of the show. York had much better chemistry with Elizabeth Montgomery which I find interesting considering they were never more than co-workers while Montgomery and Sargent went on to become life-long friends.
He's like that kid that played baby Christopher in Dallas. They'd say their lines, and he was like"..…...…..okay!" or whatever his line was. Some children that are that little almost take away from the plot, but this kid handled it better than Eric Farlow or whatever his name was.
@T. Sheree Marshall Adam's her grandson., her blood. I think it would have been a great way to end the series: after years of opposing Samantha's marriage to Darrin Endora eventually accepts it out of her love for her grandchildren, one of whom is mortal. It also would have been a reflection of something that happens in real life and I've seen for myself: people who were racist but changed their views because they love their mixed-race grandchildren.
I've often wondered about this. Endora, Aunt Clara and Serena all wore clothes that were appropriate for the time while still true to character but many of the other witches didn't. I know the witches live for centuries in another realm but you would think they would somehow acknowledge the passage of time.
In _Tabatha_ , the pilot starring Liberty Williams, Adam is a mischievous warlock played by Bruce Kimmel. ABC then ordered another pilot ( _Tabitha_ , which then became a series) with a completely different cast and setting; David Ankrum played a mortal Adam who was Tabitha's older brother (despite being a warlock and Tabitha's younger brother on _Bewitched_ ).
Maurice gave Adam the power to fly. At the end of the episode Adam uses his own witchcraft for levitation. In the short lived series Tabitha the show changed canon and made Adam both mortal and the older brother. In Bewitched he was a warlock and the younger brother
I only remember a few episodes with the pretend Darrin - I never liked the second one because he always appeared ticked off. I haven't watched any episodes with actor playing Adam...he looks cute, though .He probably didn't want to do ant magic with his father disapproving so much. It also would have been a reflection of something that happens in real life and I've seen for myself: people who were racist but changed their views because they love their mixed-race grandchildren.
I remember Bewitched this is my favorite show my favorite episode when they were testing atoms powers that was so funny
Adam had the best grandparents- frankly much better than his parents 😯
I remember they had a child named Adam but really don't remember him.
He was born in 1969 and this episode aired in December 29, 1971.
İnteresting very Dream Story
I wonder where this Grimalda character came from all of the sudden. Always in the past it was Hagatha and Enchantra. Odd.
Samantha had a number of aunts who never popped in.
Yes, they are. I would worry more about Eve's POWERS
Too cute.
Thanks. I loved this show from back in the 60' S and 70's.
I wish he had his plowers too I do hope he gained them later.
Why are they dressed as if it's 1910?
I've often wondered about this. Endora, Aunt Clara and Serena all wore clothes that were appropriate for the time while still true to character but many of the other witches didn't. I know the witches live for centuries in another realm but you would think they would somehow acknowledge the passage of time.
I wonder why Tabitha didn't came to watch her little bro's magic powers put into test anyhow.
I think Tabitha may have been at school.

Just like all mortal kids do.
I didn’t know they even had a son lol
Adam never had magic unless his grandpa gave them to him.
his granddad taken the spell off him then Adam used his own powers
I wonder what if Tabitha marries a djin instead of a warlock in her young womanhood days? 🧞♂️🧙♀️
Puxa gostaria muito q fosse dublados e completos esses episódios
So cute Adam
it's so weird that Adam is a warlock on this show and mortal on the next
In _Tabatha_ , the pilot starring Liberty Williams, Adam is a mischievous warlock played by Bruce Kimmel. ABC then ordered another pilot ( _Tabitha_ , which then became a series) with a completely different cast and setting; David Ankrum played a mortal Adam who was Tabitha's older brother (despite being a warlock and Tabitha's younger brother on _Bewitched_ ).
Elizabeth refused to have anything to do with the sequel, so it wasn't very good, and they got this wrong
HER SON. NEEDED 2 B MORE MAGICAL JUST LIKE HIS SISTER😂😂😂
I just realized, considering this family’s pedigree, I bet Adam turns out to be the most powerful.
アダムくんちょっと恥ずかしがり屋さんですネ
可愛い!
Just imagine how fantastic the show would be today, given the wonderful effects that are created by CGI.
Did Adam actually have powers!!!???... I thought one child (Tabitha) had the powers and he (Adam) didn't get them✨🤔❤️✨
I thought this, too. But I am glad that Adam got powers.
Because Darrin disliked witchcraft, Adam didn't want to use his powers as he thought it was a bad thing.
I'd always thought Endora favored Tabitha, but she's doting on Adam here, so I suppose I was mistaken.
Cuando podré ver todo este capítulo completo de Adam test
...why don't you buy a DVD set of the entire series- like I did?!
Adam Maurice Stephens ( I think that's his middle name or Adam Franklin Stephens, Darren's dad 's name).
Or maybe Adam Franklin Maurice Stephens.
@@ameliadiaz8040 true.
I’m beginning to think that the Twilight saga may have been inspired by this TV show.
nice sandals kid
Sam was so gorgeous.
Why does Adam have on those girls sandals?
Has anyone seen an interview with the actor who played adam?
I thought Adam was mortal? very disappointing that he could fly :(
Maurice gave Adam the power to fly. At the end of the episode Adam uses his own witchcraft for levitation. In the short lived series Tabitha the show changed canon and made Adam both mortal and the older brother. In Bewitched he was a warlock and the younger brother
I like adam more.he is so cute
Before, Hagatha & Enchantra arrived in what may have been a Baker Electric . What make is this?
It's not often you see Samantha in trousers
I only remember a few episodes with the pretend Darrin - I never liked the second one because he always appeared ticked off. I haven't watched any episodes with actor playing Adam...he looks cute, though .He probably didn't want to do ant magic with his father disapproving so much. They really tried the hardest to show that were absolute tyrants in the home...which was the opposite of what was going on as more and more women were getting divorced because their husbands were intolerant!
Strange bed tabitha had a crib and Adam had a diff bed
Poorly written episode that could of been epic
I thought Dr. Zaus hated humans ?
Adam ( the actor) looks like Tabatha ( the actress). Are they related?
Por favor capítulos doblados al español latino , para podernos suscribir gracias

That's too bad
Check his head, for 666🤔🧐😳😵😜
Adams face looks like tabitha’s face
His big or older sister, to be excact.
I don't think he wa shdi in g any power. I think they had one of each because it pleased the makers bacl in that day. Gave derwood ths sort of boy he wanted. Poor adam
Darren would have a stoker if he saw this.
Stroke
Should have had Adam as the first child..
