I recently purchased the Sparkle blue burst Ace signature guitar purely as a decorative piece. I haven't plugged it in yet but for the $ they do sound pretty good! I do love the real deal Gibsons but I also see and appreciate the value of these guitars. They are definitely cool to have around the house to add to my music collection! Who cares what the haters say. Go buy one they are fun and worth the little price tag.
While you will get complaints from cork sniffers and bedwetters, I can see the value of this guitar. I collect high end gibsons and fenders, and if i drop 12k on an original Ace signature, its not going to get played much-so it would be a decoration. This is a great way to serve the only real purpose for owning a ace sig at a reasonable price.
The guitar sounds great. I've read some of the comments by trolling, neo- millennial twits, that cut this guitar down. Its just as good as the Gibson, thell never admit it. The quality control is usually better on the Chinese instrument. It would be interesting to hear this guitar through a Marshall stack. I personally purchased the Korean model in 1999 with the Demarzio pick-ups. Great instrument instrument. I purchased the blue/silver Ace pick-ups are excellent. Neck is a tad wider(1959-1961style) great instrument.
Hi! I have a 1999 Korean Epiphone. I can confirm that today this Korean Epiphone sounds no worse than Gibson. Time will pass and all Chinese Chibson guitars will sound as good as this particular instance in the video.
Yes, I know, I haven't changed anything yet, except a good set of strings whc made a world of difference, been gigging with it, sounds great. As they were all wired up I used them for the vid
Thanks and you're welcome, I just thought it's probably helpful for others thinking if buying one, I saw two other review vids which swung me to buy it. I am really happy with the guitar, I am going to gig with it this St Pat's Day! have t checked out the EVH model, sounds cool, I loved Eddie too, a big fan.
Not all of us have $4000 forever going up and price change the Electro's and pickups and I'm sure it wouldn't sound that bad right now in stock form it sounds good enough for my wallet!
@@jonjon9135 that's great, my son in law bought one too. His hasn't arrived as yet, like I said, I didn't put too much expectation on it as I like the look so could just hang it up but I have been gigging with it a bit and it's cool, I really need to get those factory strings off it though :)
As a lifelong KISS fan here in the usa. I gotta say that bridge pickup doesn't sound that bad. I was looking at an Epiphone version of this guitar at a guitar center here 5 years ago. They wanted 4000 us for it. Almost bought it. But when i did go to buy it. Someone already scooped it up. But hearing this video i'm actually gonna look into this chibson for sure. Cause now even an epiphone version is an insane price. And i would love to just have a guitar, that i've always wanted. Even though it's not a gibson or even an epiphone version. However, i only have one problem with your video, i would have loved to hear you rip off some riffs from, Airborne. One of my favorite bands.
Yes, it's a nice guitar for the bucks alright, Ace is the reason I started playing guitar, Kiss Alice was my first album ever 😀 I haven't heard of Airborne, will check em out, you never know 😉
He never used any other pick-up than the one at the bridge, and the middle one was just a glued-on replacement of a real pick-up, on the black Gibson that he used after 1981. It looks cool, but it was mainly made up as bling, initially.
The neck and middle sound muddy. Did you say the bridge is a Dimarzio? Doesn't sound like it. To really get Ace's sound. Pull the electronics out, repliem with Gibson electronics and put a Dimarzio dp-100 super distortion p/up in the bridge. You'll definitely get his sound. As for the other two p/ups. Disconnect em
Yes, they do a bit, I mainly use the bridge pickup, have been gigging with the guitar and get some pretty cool tones out of it. All pickups are the Chinese ones from the factory, still using factory strings :) Maybe down the track I'll through a Dimarzio in the bridge position.
I guarantee you, mate. Once you get the p/up I mentioned, it's the one Ace uses, you'll hear the difference. When you're gigging with your guitar. The ppl dancing won't have a clue it's a Chibson
Yes, I am keen to do it at some stage, honestly several people have asked me to play the Gibson during gigs, I have had it really humming a few times. I agree a real Dimarzio will lift it even more... it's a fun guitar
Enjoy the hell out of it. I've been playing for over 40 years now, and things I've figured out: 1. Overseas guitars are SOOOO much better than they used to be. 2. The only ones crying are the ones that are trying to validate how much they paid for real Gibsons and/or Fenders. 3. The quality of the American guitars aren't as good as they used to be. 4. Boy they do copy everything. They buy just one and go over it with a fine tooth comb and Bam BOOTLEG! I wonder IF all of them have the same exact serial number?
