    Good test, Max. I bought your guard shortly after purchasing my 23 DCT, but I think the main concern has always been the fact that your guard bolts to the engine cases and not the frame. No doubt that your guard is more durable as long as the mounting bolts don’t transfer the damage to the engine cases. After seeing a previous video of a guard that your company replaced after being damaged with NO damage to the engine itself was what completely convinced me.

      @@Traxxion I enjoyed the video, since I bought and installed the Traxxion Dynamic Engine Protection Guard when it was first introduced. I knew my 2021 DCT Goldwing was getting the best protection from an outstanding Goldwing engineering team. Todate, I have been very satisfied with the Traxxion Dynamics Engine Guard, knowing that it's the best designed protection for the beautiful Honda Goldwing DCT engine. I like the idea of testing these despite it being rather obvious to anyone with eyes which of these products will protect. A more accurate (and expensive) test scenario would be glancing blows at various angles. No matter to me really, I'll buy Max's plate if/when the time comes for me to own a GW.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  5 месяцев назад +1

      This is true, but I didn't have any way to generate the real amounts of force the plates would take when coupled with heaping amounts of inertia. So a perpendicular blow with as much as I could generate was as good as I could do for "free".

    Nice work. I would think the loads transmitted from curb shots and speed bumps would be massive b/c the bike and rider weighs a combined 950-1,000 lbs. maybe up to 1,300 lbs. with pillion and gear, x the speed of impact, concentrated into a very small impact area. Having said that, I would think you would be fair to have a test that represents that huge impact, much larger than anything you've shown here. If you could calculate that and then represent that in a test, I think that would really show the capability and superiority of your product, and the inadequacy of all the others. In any case, your product is awesome and delivers the goods, as your whacking and bashing clearly shows. You gave your own product way more force than the competitors'.

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  5 месяцев назад +2

      ... because this test failed to do that already???
      The main difference is that a speed bump would not have the concentrated hit the boulder did, as it would create a line across which the plate would slide, versus a point being driven into the plate perpendicularly.
      This is the best test anyone will ever do on this topic, so everyone will have to live with its limitations.

    • @Sladep123
      @Sladep123 5 месяцев назад +1

      @Traxxion I'm not a testing expert for sure. I think your tests were representative of the majority of the bad situations out there. As a GL1800 owner, my worst-case scenario (the Mac Daddy) is when we crunch a speed bump or curb. I could easily see your plate withstanding the equivalent of dropping the bike with riders and gear onto a sharp curb edge and I don't see any of the competitors being able to do that. I just thought would be a really convincing demonstration to those who haven't yet experienced the sickening feeling of when that happens - "oh shit, that sounded expensive"...

    • @Traxxion
      @Traxxion  5 месяцев назад +2

      @@Sladep123 dropping onto the curb edge, I think most riders are going quite slow, and they've already determined that the curb "shouldn't" hit the bottom of the bike. I slammed a 35 pound rock down onto the case with all the force I could muster from 7 feet in the air. Maybe if you watch that again and turn your speakers up, you'll get that sickening feeling! The orders of magnitude that the bike loaded with a rider and luggage can generate is huge. The test shows that the other pans are not capable of providing anything but minimal protections at best...and in the case of the FINS versions....could shear, split, and rip off under the rear wheel. The protection they provide comes with an added danger even I didn't foresee until this test. Protecting the case and not having the thing fall off should be the main goal....all of them failed on one or both but the Traxxion. The type of hit that could damage the entire engine with the Traxxion guard attached to it would be orders of magnitude harder and higher than without the protection plate. Its primary purpose is to protect that shift boss from breaking off or the oil filter from taking a rock. Everything else it does is a bonus. It also doesn't present the downside of being a total waste of money, not working to stop almost anything other than the lightest road debris, rattling, and being a potential hazard if it's "can openers" under the chassis and into the rear wheel/fender.

    After hearing the horror stories of broken GW engines I refused to get caught riding after dark and spent too much time preoccupied with every bolt or nut that might be lying on the road instead of enjoying the ride.
    The peace of mind I now have from Max's simple install engine gaurd laid all of those concerns to rest an hour after it was delivered.
    I've learned enough about Traxxion that I didn't feel a need to shop competitors products but some of these other engine gaurds being tested here are actually laughable.
    How anyone could, in good conscience, sell or install such flimsy pieces of shit for the purpose of shielding a $30,000 bikes engine against all manor of possible road objects is beyond my understanding.
    Just the lengths this guy goes to in order to educate and clarify our understanding of our own equipment deserves some respect, whether you agree with him or no, he's the only manufacturer I see constantly cranking out research / development to provide much needed upgrades & improvement options.

    I know I’ve been happy with your product works great. Can’t be for sure that that crack was from yours, may have cracked when hitting one of the others. Dry erase marker will many times remove permanent marker, I use that trick at work on our white boards, usually works.

      @Traxxion  5 месяцев назад

      You are "double right"... I got after the whiteboard with some contact cleaner right away, and it cleaned up perfectly.
      As for that crack, I did smash it with the big rock with one of the Shine-eez plates on there, and then hit it 3 times with my plate, and then I pounded all over the whole plate with the trailer ball.
      The rock hit my plate with a point, which a speed bump wouldn't have. It would be a "line" that would glance across the plate. I was just trying to find something extreme. I think that happened!

      The plate basically touches the engine, so there is no place for anything to "cake up". If you are riding your Wing on a Motocross Track, I would suggest removing the bodywork and pressure washing regularly.
      Having said that, we've had tons of riders do the Alcan Highway and reported no troubles whatsoever. These plates are in use all over Earth in all sorts of environments. If there was a problem, we'd know.

    Looks like the Wingstuff worked just fine since there was no damage to the engine. All that banging and the engine was unharmed. Good test. Thank you.

      The Wingstuff plate destroyed the engine with the smallest effort and failed miserably. Did you bother to watch the video, or do you just want to place an ad for Wingstuff?

      I didn't see any engine damage. If there was I missed it. Could you please point me to the place in the video where you showed that?

    I think the test would have been more severe, if a picture of Joe, Kamala, AOC, and Nancy would have been placed on top of each plate. I got my oil changed in Nashville and they were very impressed with my bash plate from Traxxion.

    I don’t think this is a true test. The motorcycle was only a few inches off the ground anything flying off the front tire or getting kicked up under will not hit with that much force.

      So without the pan(s) a "glancing blow" destroys the motor...and I hate to get all "sciencey"...a direct hit has more force...and the rocks were the definitions of "glancing blows". Objectively this shows a worse case scenario, aka the point of a "protection plate". 😘😚😘😚😘
