I don't know if you're still reading the comments or not, but I've be trying since the 80s to learn the Running Man. I'm now 59. I told myself that I would learn the Running Man BEFORE my 60th birthday.
I "happened" upon y'all's video the other day, and it occurred to me that the Buck Step is akin to the Running Man! I tried your steps and I CAN DO IT!! I'm convinced that once I get the Buck Step perfected, I'll easily be able to SLIDE into the Running Man! I'm tickled pink!😊

When I was tiny, my dad used to take me to bluegrass concerts, and I remember doing this dance in our barn back home, but I must have forgotten where I learned it. We moved to the city and I forgot everything. What a wonderful memory to have back after all these years. Thanks so much for this video.

This is one of the finest video stories I have seen in a very long time. You young ladies have captured a moment in time and tradition that is the stuff of Emmy award content. This is profoundly sincere love of dance and music. You two young ladies. The signs. The dog. The purity and more. You will capture the hearts of the world with this. Incredible. A rare find. And best line ever, "It's pretty fun."

Miss Stout. I just saw your reply here. Please accept my apology for the delay. It's wonderful that you and your daughter can continue to enjoy the work you put into the above video. Personally, I'm convinced that you would have been the perfect Miss Molly replacement for Romper Room . On video content, I believe I have a little more knowledge than the average viewer. I don't know if there is a way to privately message, but briefly, I was legal support for a nationally broadcast Emmy award documentary and earlier served as an elected governor to the TV Academy Emmy Awards-NY. I also chaired the TV Academy Membership Committee.
Your video is great stuff. The sound effects, the AV synch or not... It's just so rare and enjoyable to watch it. You've got it all in that video. The sincerity jumps at the viewer. I love it and I hope you and your daughter have continued with it.
Best to you and your daughter and may God bless.

I don’t know anything about that stuff so I’d sure appreciate any good advice you have. I’ve been hesitant to post the entire thing on RUclips for various reasons. This short clip is just one step out of an hour and a half long program. One night we went out for a walk through these fabulous tree line streets nearby. She started telling me about buck dancing, then gave me a demo, had me try it and a half an hour later we were both buck dancing having a blast! I miss Connie

I'm italian, writing from Italy, this is the first video I see regarding an Appalachian dance ... Many congrats to Rebecca👏👏👏 (where are you?). Her performance (along with the child) is so engaging, graceful, both when she dances (the rhythm of her beats is incredibly reminiscent of a horse's trot) and when she sings, matching the rhythm of the dance. Amazing. I have read that Buck step and other typical Appalachian dances have their traditions in the ancient Irish dances, but these are much more pleasant to watch, the music produced with the banjo very different and "new." Yes, definitely yes, the world can easily be a better place if we bring back and keep alive traditions like this dance. It just depends on us.

Always in Bluegrass. All folk music, really. Have you noticed that? It's world wide. Dance that upper class, rich, what have you, is beautiful, and very posing. But the farmers, bricklayers, anyone actually doing the work, are going to stomp. The feet have some words to say. It's that way here in Appalachia, in Ireland, France, Italy, I just watched a video of African folk dance where I thought they were going to lift off the ground with the quick stomping. It was beautiful.

I am so glad you posted this heartfelt comment. To the outside world, other citizens, in other countries, must think America is descending into collective insanity...and a percentage of it is. But for the majority of us, we still love and respect our families, feel fortunate to live in America, and are out living our lives, having adventures and making memories. Technology should be a tool, but not a way of life...and for many, sadly, it is their entire existence, while life passes them by!

@@sharondigness2315 I totally agree, about 15 years ago, I with my son aged 13, went for a car trip acrossed Ameica from denver to LA. Of course the scenery was 'mind-blowing' but having travelled to many other countries before, I was and I admit some what with some shame how nice, friendly and family based Americans were. I found also that when in shops, asking for directions or just chatting to me son, on hearing my British accent many people would come up and want to know where we weer from, stating often they loved to hear my accent. Having been a teacher and lecturer plus thanks to my Uncle who use to do so many different accents and a fan of Peter Sellers, I too especially my own birth accent of being Cockney, could do very goodBerkshire, Somerset, Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle and Scottish accents. The reaction by Americans from different states was always 'marvellous' and had so much fun doing so (always been a show off) after a while had to stop as my son would groan at his dad showing off to the locals again.
My point, it showed as you state above and in your RUclips even though we sadly are focused on technology so much now which I have to say regret helped bring in, that the most technological nation at it's very heart, it's people still have a desire to be reconnected to their historical heritage by hearing 'traditional' ones from my country - which in all my travels to other countries never was case.
This RUclips by Peter Sellers (fare better than I could) shows our British :-

Any dance that is performed in work boots should be a treasured part of a nation's heritage =)
I am reminded of opening ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics.. Americans and Aussies share so much in common.

So much fun watching this. Simple dance that everyone can learn with a little practice and the music so uplifting and joyous. Probably has roots from Irish dance maybe ? Rebecca is easy on the eye as well !
