Brown Trout Fly fishing on the River Aln, Northumberland

Fly fishing for wild brown trout in the Lake District is great, but I occasionally go outside the area.
This was a visit to Northumberland in July 2022 where I managed to get an afternoon on the River Aln. A very hot day with not many fish rising but a broken wear below the railway viaduct produced 4 brown trout on a dry fly.
Day tickets are £10.00 from the Hardy shop in the middle of Alnwick and the shop staff can advise on access to the river, parking and good places to fish. They also advised using very small dry flies.
The trout in the video are caught on barbless greewells and klinkhammers size 16-18
