Dante has both Depth and backstory. Dante grew up, accepted responsibilities, coped with his depression, became a better person, gained friends and allies, paid for another man's child support, paid for his own place and his bills despite being delayed, became a father figure for Nero, and kept an attitude that brought smiles to people. Vergil peaked in Highschool and got stranded in that era. He's an edgelord only defined by his sword and traumas. He would opt to kill millions just so he can get back from his Lose streak from his twin brother who only wanted to make an honest living. Seriously, Vergil fans are people who refuse to grow up. Vergil never became more than a "rival of Dante". Without Dante his story is just him trying to get more power and that's it.
thats the thing, when vergil was abandoned to fight for himself, the only thing that protected him was his demonic heritage, thats why he embraced it so much, and embracing that side, he left his humanity and compassion behind as he saw it as being vulnurable, it would take his polar opposite twin, dante, to stand up against his rampage and show that power could be obtained either way, vergil never learnt to accept his humainty, but rather questioned his path and refect on what he really did with his whole life, and their final fight, whoever came out on top, would not only prove to be stronger, but would also have the "correct ideal", without dante, there was no vergil, and with no vergil there was no dante

But Vergil even dared to cut Dante's hands when Dante tried to save him. Vergil is corrupted by power. Only through being V he understood some portion of humanity because he was able to witness Dante and Nero work together to save people.

And the answer is actually no. Dante will not chase power. Vergil is not the only one Traumatized. He was passed from one foster care to another and lived alone afterwards but he remained a good person. He acknowledged his human blood and while he was scornful of his demon blood at first, he eventually accepted it. He has every right to claim whatever their father left of them as much as Vergil but he never does unless it's necessary because he's not power hungry. He's only hungry for pizza.
I feel like in their final fight in DMC 5 when one smiled at the other and vice versa, they were just happy to see each other. despite the the hate they have for each other, neither wants the other to truly die. they both had a hell of a joureny but at the end the more they hate each other the more they love each other. dante losing everyone he cares for including Vergil and just act like he doesnt care so demon would use it to their advanage. Vergil feeling left abandon and hurt goes on his conquest to become more powerful because he feels that power is the only thing that wouldn't abandon him and nothing would be able to hurt him again. at the end of it all. I think they realised that they only have each other + Nero i guess. Dante just wanted to see his brother again after the over 20 years since he had last seen him. Though he might not show it, the extroverted and invasive heart of his youth is still there.

The DMC1 novel and the anime go more in depth with Dante’s time as Tony Redgrave, in the anime they have Dante make a kind of connection with his clients when he takes jobs (e.g Patty, Ernest etc.) he made so many allies and acquaintances however he lost connections to some people along the way, this includes Nell Goldstein and Vergil himself. In the time between DMC3-DMC4 I believe Dante was saddened and kinda depressed when Vergil left in DMC3 and when he thought Vergil was gone for good when he defeated him as Nelo Angelo, you could see how depressed and dull he seemed in the anime and DMC2 then when Nero came into the picture he was a bit more joyful as usual.

While Eva the mother of Dante and vergil hid Dante in the closet, so she could look for vergil who was outside, but she couldn't find him before she died. While that was happening vergil got impaled by the demons, he was screaming for help for his mom or brother to come save him, but it seems like they didn't so he thinks they left him to die, then he awake sparda power to kill the demons and continue his pursuit for power.

I feel like this is a very skewed perspective, much like how people idolize superheroes like Deadpool and Batman over Superman. Dante has an amazing backstory. He had to deal with his own trauma, and he never really got over it, he hid it under the guise of being goofy and humorous. He accepted both his human and demonic selves, while Vergil shunned his humanity as “weakness.” Without Dante Vergil’s quest of power has no meaning. He basically is a father figure to Nero, even if he insults and berates Nero sometimes. And even through all his trauma and guilt and regret he manages to be a sunshine for his friends and allies. Not only that, he manages to be a source of humor for US, the player. Vergil’s story is great, but at the end of the day, ironically, Vergil is incomplete and purposeless without Dante. Without his desire to overpower Dante, Vergil’s purpose is just “I want more power”. Vergil is cool, but that’s all there is to Vergil. Dante is the actual man.
Disagree with two things, Dante is a highly complex and well-developed character than Vergil. Throughout the games, Dante's character is explored and developed, revealing layers of his personality, dan his past. His a highly complex individual with a deep sense of commitment, honor, and a strong desire to protect the innocent from supernatural threats. Dante really shown his great growth from the first dmc 3 until now dmc5, but as the story progresses, we would be able to see a more vulnerable and emotional side to him. Even thought Vergil is rarely shown in the whole game, he's edgy personality and his appereance are just much more cooler.

I feel like this is a very skewed perspective, much like how people idolize superheroes like Deadpool and Batman over Superman.
Dante has an amazing backstory. He had to deal with his own trauma, and he never really got over it, he hid it under the guise of being goofy and humorous. He accepted both his human and demonic selves, while Vergil shunned his humanity as “weakness.” Without Dante Vergil’s quest of power has no meaning. He basically is a father figure to Nero, even if he insults and berates Nero sometimes. And even through all his trauma and guilt and regret he manages to be a sunshine for his friends and allies. Not only that, he manages to be a source of humor for US, the player.
Vergil’s story is great, but at the end of the day, ironically, Vergil is incomplete and purposeless without Dante. Without his desire to overpower Dante, Vergil’s purpose is just “I want more power”. Vergil is cool, but that’s all there is to Vergil. Dante is the actual man.
Disagree with two things, Dante is a highly complex and well-developed character than Vergil. Throughout the games, Dante's character is explored and developed, revealing layers of his personality, dan his past. His a highly complex individual with a deep sense of commitment, honor, and a strong desire to protect the innocent from supernatural threats. Dante really shown his great growth from the first dmc 3 until now dmc5, but as the story progresses, we would be able to see a more vulnerable and emotional side to him. Even thought Vergil is rarely shown in the whole game, he's edgy personality and his appereance are just much more cooler.
