@@charliemac64 Yes they seem like the kind of music listeners that would argue with you. If you told them that War pigs was 1 of your favourite Metal songs.
Plus the fact that. This is one of the most metal sounding songs of all time ever. This guy sounds like one of the people who only here’s metal when it sounds like Punk.
First, thanks for the reaction... Rob Halford is a living legend. After Painkiller Tour '91 He left Judas Priest to do his own projects: - Fight - Halford - Two (John 5 on guitar) He Return to Priest in 2003 for a Reunion Tour to this days. Try Fight - Into the Pit (Live at Sony Studios) (I will spam my friends... lol)
Judas Priest more than most bands successfully evolved their sound . Their 1st album was very bluesy , than the evolved to a hard rock sound and more metallic with every album release.
The album COVER from Sad Wings..., so intricate and badass, it's a fallen angel with 'the Devils' tuning fork' around its' neck, soon to join JP on their logo. Whole album is a variety of metal flavors.
This ia what I am taking about. I hope their 2021 album is gonna have album cover art in this kind of fashion or something like that. I love it. I have to say metal album covers in 2018 were totally badass
It's that long because it used to be two songs that got merged together. The first one was called "Whiskey Woman" and was written by KK Downing and their original singer Al Atkins, and the second one was called "Red Light Lady" and was written by Rob Halford before he joined the band. And given that this were songs from the early 70s this is incredibly heavy and certainly heavy metal. BTW. if you want to hear more of Halford's screams then later songs probably are best, although Dreamer Deceiver off the same album contains a great one, like Screaming For Vengeance, that starts with an awesome scream as does Dissident Aggressor. Frankly, Rob is pretty well known for his high pitched screams. One of the best in that regard.
I saw Priest three times in the early eighties . Screaming for Vengeance , Defenders of the faith and Turbo lover . Rob Halford is "Metal god" . These guys put out live.
If you want to hear a good example of his vocal range check out priest's version of Johnnie B Goode-they tore it apart and rebuilt it to sound like their own

Hi, I just saw your channel for the first time today and was confused by when the lady kept saying that she's doesn't like the band sweating. I'm a musician myself. I started playing when I was 11 years old and started writing songs at age 15, and I've played in quite a few bands over the years. And one thing for sure, when you're playing under hot lights or outside in warm weather, there's no way that you're not going to sweat. You don't have a choice. It's like going to the gym and saying that you would have liked it better if people didn't sweat. But I enjoyed your channel. Thanks.
'76 vs '91 That's the difference in the sound. They have so many good songs that you could do this for an easy 50 no shit, they hit all the ranges and marks. JP Fans always go to Victims, but it isn't the most approachable song for the new comer. I think all fans of their fans do that.
One of my favorite Priest songs from my favorite Priest album, Sad Wings of Destiny. Halford’s vocals weren’t the best in this version. Check out the studio version. Actually check out the whole album. From 1976, I believe their second album. Really hard rocking album.
Another nostalgia reaction? Sign me up! I love these old school songs and your reactions to it. Keep it coming, I'll be watching! And also another suggestion.. "Chelsea Grin - Blind Kings" it just came out and its awesome. :D Also the aspect ratio of the video is pure old school.. haven't seen 4:3 for a looooong time.
You should react to "10 Amazing Rob Halford High Screams", uploaded by LoudWire. There you can see why the Judas Priest singer is called the Metal God :)
I would like to recommend a song from the band you listened to in the last Try not to Headbang challenge; It's the band Black Tongue.. song is called Parting Soliloquy. Cheers and love the reactions! Also fun fact; the drummer for Black Tongue is the same guy as in Infant Annihilator, Aaron!
this song was actually off their either first or second album, this concert was 8 or 9 years after the original release. their first few albums were more of a rock/blues feel than metal.....i think rob may have been sick at this concert, he sounds kinda nasally on a lot of his notes and his range isnt as wide as it should be
Nope its a long song as performed, this is classic priest they’ve done short long fast slow ballads and a couple of covers in there long catalogue of songs .and between victim in ‘76 and painkiller in ‘90 theres been 9 albums in between there bound not to have the same sound etc .great reaction guys 👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻😬😉
I have to say, that if he doesn’t think this song is metal. He is obviously 100 percent wrong. And yes Judast Priest actually do some Hard Rock songs. My definition of what so sounds like hard rock is music made by bands like Cream, some of AC/DC’s and some of The Who’s music.
Goddamn it, with broken vocals he stills puts his heart out in each note. Not many are that gifted and driven. I agree with you. Not his best but the fact he goes 100 for it... bless him
This is a song from 1974. Early Priest is more prog than metal. Very long songs, typical for the early seventies. I think long songs was the best of the seventies. But if you have the attention span of a Britney Spears fan you won’t like it. That’s why the most metal bands are not on the radio where three minutes is considered long. Fast food music.
These 2 don’t seem to no a lot about the evolution of Metal. What would they say if you told them the Metal was in the 60’s. Blacks Sabbath debut album was made in 1969. If Bands like Jimi Hendrix Experience & Cream started out a couple of years later than they did. I believe they would also have been labelled as Metal bands.
I could go back further and call Chuck Berry metal in his time as well. Every generation has a form of metal. All the way back to classical pieces. I just meant this era of metal for the band we were watching. - Mat
This was from 1976 Sad Wings Of Destiny- one of the first real metal albums. I think the m ore you listen to it, the more you will like it.
It's like they have no concept of time and the evolution of the metalz. Sad Wings of Destiny was a phenomenal album.
