Ignis and nameless guardian are just built different. But nameless guardian really tanked it without a second phase. I don't know if Ignis can be hit during his second phase animation

I forgot what the exact damage cap was, like generally 20-22 but it does suggest what i thought about damage cap applying before normal armor points. Also probably most karat feng like video on Satheriel battle neat.
