So now he condescends to accept her anyway, despite what others might think. What a guy...She should take her self respect and leave. This guy should go to his friends and teachers and get them to pick out his "perfect" date. Then he wouldn't have to worry about what others think. Right? This guy should grow a backbone.

Totally going on what the narrator tells us, I can only assume that, the spineless guy, she’s stalking is actually a fuckboi or some benevolent narcissist.
Being nice to her in private, but cold to her in company. Looks like he is very insecure and doesn’t trust his feelings to be out in the open, because of being shamed and out of control.
Actually very afraid what the rest of the world will think of him, like treating him as an outsider, while he indeed already is, for being so distant, or cold or cruel or a player.
Furthermore, I don’t encourage girls to be stalkers. Express your emotions and feelings sincerely, but accept if a guy appreciates you enough to be just a friend, or not. When shamed or rejected harshly, also accept that hormones and lust clouded your judgement and you simply fell for a good looking or cool acting douchebag.
This happens very frequently, not need to obsess over the guy or be ashamed of your misdirected feelings.
It is tough to be a girl anyways, so don’t be hard on yourself.
