Hello from South Africa 🇿🇦 Thku for this demonstration. You are just THE best teacher of knitting techniques on Utube SoSo glad I found you ❤️ Have been doing a lot of knitting whilst we have had C19 to deal with. Learning new techniques One positive enjoyment for me while dealing with a horrible Virus . Keep safe everyone Ruth Clive- Smith
Thank you so much - not just for showing an easy way to do the stitch, but the specifics, like how long the tail needs to be, and to not tighten the seam too much so it looks like the other stitches. I love how you teach!
I too have watched several how to videos on this and yours is the best illustration and I like that you used a contrasting colour so I could see what your really doing. I've been knitting off and on for my whole life and saying purl and knit working the darning needle makes it harder for me to understand. Actually seeing how the stich is formed while you are doing it is the best for me.. Thank you Have a great weekend.
Honestly, I've watched a lot of tutorials on the Kitchener stitch and this is the best! It really made it clear and so easy to remember! Thanks for this video!
she gets rid of all the unnecessary verbiage, and the yarn used makes the demonstration absolutely clear, I have been looking for a simple direct explanation for 2 days.
I have looked at several Kitchener stitch tutorials, but I must say this one explains the kitchener stitch the best ever. I have made my first pair of socks and they have been on my needles for at least two weeks because I couldn't get the kitchener stitch correct. I am excited that I finally get to finish them. THANK YOU!!
By far the clearest explanation I've found anywhere. I appreciate a how-to video that is clear and concise and with no lengthy pre-amble of the person's entire life story. I sat through a lot of poor videos on this technique to find this gem. Not only the clearest explanation but the most easy to do and remember technique, cutting out unnecessary steps. Professional and non distracting, too. I sat through several of these where the presenters seemed self defensive and hectoring in tone or with annoying mannerisms. When I turn to RUclips for a how to, I appreciate it being calm, straight to the point, and not full of someone speaking with an irritating rising intonation or who seems stressed by doing the technique. This is the only one I have found that did just that. Thanks.
Thank you so much, Penelope :-) I'm happy you find this tutorial useful. RUclips is a great venue for everyone to share our bits of experience, even though sometimes the presentation is less than perfect.
I cannot thank you enough for this video! I only wish I had seen it six Christmas stockings ago! Bravo! This is the first of those stockings that I have not had to pull out my work and start over- got it all done in one round! Thanks again!
THANK YOU 🙏 This has unlocked my block with Kitchener. Was getting confused on the which stitch I needed to go next. Slipping stitches totally cleared up the fog❣️
I have looked at so many kitchner videos and been knitting for 20 years and this is the best i've seen!! Thanks. I'm not a big sock knitter, but this was a live saver.
At last !! I have watched so many tutorials and still couldn't understand it. This demonstration was so clear that I instantly "got it". Thank you so much.
That's brilliant! And thank goodness for technology, describing that process in words for a pattern for someone to understand ... yikes! Thank you so much, it's not nearly as complicated as I was making it. Love your videos!
Thanks so much I really appreciate I tried and tried to do it but I couldn’t until I go with your video I found it really very easy You are wonderful teacher Best wishes Happy new year Fatima
I thank you for this tutorial it seems ,. Better for me to understand the direction,. Then the other tutorial,.. I'm a beginner knitter,.. and I had to do a Kitchener stitch,. Try other video's,.. but your instructions is much clearer.. I thank you so much..😊😁☺️😋♥️🧶🤗👍
Wow this is so much easier to understand! You go in the first set and remove the next stitch Purl wise then you go to the second set and remove the second stitch knit wise then the last 2 stitches are removed Purl wise. Thank you Maryna for this great tutorial 🥰
Hi my dear you are really marvellous Can you imagine that I have watched many times the kitcheners and tried hardly to understand to do it but it was for me very difficult until today I have seen your explanation then found it very easy So many thanks
How much I enjoy and how much I learn from these videos ! This is a master at her craft and I love that she shares things in such a clear and concise manner!
This ist the best explanation and demonstration on kitchener stitch I have ever seen. Thank you so much for this! I just finished a project in a couple of minutes with your help
I love the way you teach you show the easiest way I have seen yet on RUclips I really appreciate you taking the time and explaining what you're doing and how you're doing it thank you so much and please continue to post any new project that you're working on I really appreciate it thank you and God bless and stay safe
Thank you so much, Rose! There are still quite a few techniques I'd love to share with everyone, so I do not plan to stop making these tutorials any time soon :-)
Připojuji se k ostatním pochvalnym komentářům. Podle popisu v časopisech jsem nebyla schopna správně ukončit špici u ponožky. Teprve dnes jsem to pochopila. Moc a moc děkuji.
I wanted to do Kitchener to join a shoulder and for some stupid reason went looking for videos. It was FAR too complicated and as I was about to give up I though, "Hang on, why didn't you look at 10rowsaday??". That's not complicated at all. But having watched it, I found the Russian bind off and think that may be even better. As a teacher I appreciate good teaching and you truly have a gift. Thank you.
...subscribed a few days ago and so glad I did clear concise and beautifully presented ...no distracting chatter flashy nail varnish or jewelry very professional ...thank you for sharing your expertise
Excellent tutorial -seen loads and this is super clear and makes perfect sense- I did it with my fingers in super chunky wool and it came out perfectly-thanks for making it so easy!
I agree your videos are so clear and even though I have see the method before this video explains it so much better. Seeing that the joining stich as finished products explains much better what we are trying to accomplish. Thank you very much.
THANK YOU!!! you made this sooo VERY clear!!! Wonderful tutorial...I cannot tell you how long I have avoided any pattern with Kitchener stitch... I feel freeee!!! Thanks so much!!!
*You are amazing* 😱 Every other video confused me so much. Who the heck wants to stress over what stitch stays on the needle and what stitch gets slipped off and when?? The way you did it and explained it is *so* so much better than any video I've ever watched since I started knitting. Thank you so much!!!
I think I finally understand how to do this. I've saved to favorites so next time I need it I will watch again before attempting. I may even attempt first with a couple of swatches. I just tried using the kitchener/grafting stitch on some baby overalls after reading and watching a couple of videos on it and while I have the five stitches on the bottom is seamed together, I could have down better. Next time I will do better after watching this video. You did a very good job at explaining and showing visually how the stitch is done. Thank you. *:)
Thank you for sharing this video. I love the large yarn & needles. They really show the stitches. Please use them for all of your videos. Also, you look wonderful in the royal blue.
Amazing! I've seen a tutorial of this before, but it was so complicated. i was swearing every step at the time. Such a great and simple explanation. Thank you very much.
thanks for making this so approachable! i pride myself in learning things fast, just from watching- but the kitchener stitch was always a mystery to me- like a math problem, that i couldn't figure out 🙈
Thank you for explaining this in such a simple way. Will this method work joining garter stitch I am currently making a cowl in garter stitch and this would be a brilliant way to finish off.
Hi Esther. Yes, you can use Kitchener stitch to join fabric made in garter stitch. For best results, make sure you have a line of purls at the very edge of each side of the cowl. Kitchener stitch will form a line of knits and the seam will be absolutely invisible. Happy seaming :-)
This was so easy to follow! I've tried the kitchener stitch before, but I could never seem to get it to work. I need to re-learn how to do it for a pattern I got, so this was perfect! Thank you so much! Also, my cat enjoyed watching the yarn move about on the screen. :)
I know I'm going to be dumb at this stitch so I prepare myself 4 or 5 tutorial and this one is just visually makes me feel easier and it's so well explained! I think this one is using a slightly different way to do kitchener stitch and this small different change a lot it's really just feel easier... And also as this video said you can adjust the tightness while seeing it, there are other tutorials that don't slip the stich off when the needle first go in to one stitch so you can't see it as clear as this video taught. I just finish seaming my first knitting hat and it's perfect, I never thought I can make it perfect at the first time I can't even find the seaming myself 🥺 thank you so much for making this tutorial
Thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial. It makes so much more sense laying the needles flat instead of trying to hold the two needles together. Thank you again!!
Thank you so much for your video on doing this! You make it look so easy the way you explain it and demonstrate it! I have been learning so much watching your videos!
I absolutely love learning from you, I wish I could’ve joined your club. I don’t have PayPal and I could not pay with my Visa card. Thanks for being so clear.
Thank you, Jamal. It's ok if you can't join the club. If you are subscribed to my newsletter, I'll send you a new tutorial every Friday. Happy knitting!

Hi Maryna. Is the process the same for seaming two pieces of stockinette which each have a 4-stitch garter edge (as in a scarf)? I had to knit two pieces of a scarf so that a Christmas tree detail wouldn’t be upside down as it is placed around the neck. Thank you.
Hi Bonnie, Yes, you can use the same seaming to join garter stitch. To get the best results, make the seam between the ridges. That means that when you seam, you will join two lines of purls that form ridges of the garter stitch. This way the seam will be less noticeable. Good luck :-)
