Seeing you drive this series IRL, are these cars really that fragile to other car contact and grip? I hate that anytime a car remotely touches someone in this sim they’re dead. I swear cars IRL have to be less sensitive to contact and sliding around for minimal mistakes
@@mrmidnight32 I don’t drive the exact same car but you can definitely get away with a lot more contact irl. In iRacing you make the slightest touch with input in yours or there wheel and it insta spins you and that’s not very realistic as irl we make contact all the time with no issues.
Great racing Dave. Olivier was very graceful after the incident which makes a refreshing chage from the usual attutude that most people have. If only there were more guys like that on iRacing.
So refreshing seeing someone not flame you and call you every insult that exists without even looking at the replay. We need more of those people and less of the usual idiots we have.
I've crashed out before cos of my dogs barking, I was so busy shouting at them to BE QUIET that I just ran off the track into a barrier! They are more of a distraction than people think!
I always get Piatek in my splits and he seems like a good guy. Glad that you had the same experience. I think he may be having a rough week because I saw him crash out of a race the other night as well!
I too can vouch for Olivier the gentleman racer, last season he accidentally spun me out trying to bump draft and push us away from the rest of the pack. He stopped and waited for me to get back on track and gave up the position, top guy.. He's also insanely fast, especially in the wet!
Great driving Dave, as well as great racing. I'm not as fast as you Dave, I must say that first, so please don't be offended, but I find that where you go down to1st in a couple of corners I stay in 2nd, and I think Olivier did too. I learn a lot from your videos on my iRacing journey, thanks.
i try to be like olivier which can be hard when you drive imsa, but in multiclass races things happen. The only time i get mad is usually when someone did something absolutely senseless like drive bomb from 3 car lengths back or close the door on a higher class car when youre not racing anyone. Having a winning attitude is a big part of the battle
I think that contact with Olivier was also a bit of netcode. I didn't see major contact, and it did look like you were both keeping to your lines, though sure, you could have given a *little* more space.
Dave do you make many changes to the car setup? I am struggling to feel the chassis working like in real cars. I have over 500 races in everything from a Sunbeam Tiger to a 822 F1 March with great success and even worked with Carrol Smith as my engineer in F Atlantic but am not sure how to change things due to lack of feel. Great race by the way....
Dave, great video again. It's only now that I'm noticing your throttle technique when you're downshifting. Do you have time to make an explanatory video? Cheers! Jeremy
Hi Dave! I see you blipping the throttle when downshifting. Does that make a significant difference in the Mazda specifically or in all cars? Relatively new to iRacing. Cheers!
Davie... When the hell did we all go back to suddenly saying “like” at the end of every sentence? I thought about this minutes ago then you went and said it as well 😂 Don’t know how it’s suddenly made a comeback like 🤷♂️😂
Holy shit that dude is quick. Thats the only thing I hate about iRacing is how fragile these cars are. 0 room for any sort of contact what so ever. No other sim is like that
Olivier Piatek races a lot of the Mustang series and he's usually a good, clean racer. He even waits for the green flag to fly to take off which usually lets me know they're a fellow IRL racer.
Olivier is super fast, this is his smurf account, he is at 7.3iR on his main account. I'm 4k iR mostly driving the mx5 and there is some guys that are just weirdly fast. I don't really get how they extract that much pace from that car. I guess I have things to learn still ahah
I do think that sometimes you do think yourself out of a race win, I mean you give to much time on what the man behind is doing, rather than just getting stuck in and racing your own race, I've seen 100s of your videos, and there has been times where you have ignored what is going on behind, and got the win, but no matter what, Olivier was a gentleman amongst gentlemen, to own his mistake like he did just shows the class the guy has.
car #6 had 17 incident points, rear ended 3 cars in the one short race yet has a safety rating of 4.99 and lost no safety rating??? Am i going crazy, how does that work lol
@@davecamyt So why don't you use your BDH? Is it broken like my two ones? First one was scatched, second one didn't work at all, got repaired and then did't work without problems. So I decided to send it back. Whole thing took about 135 days! So now I ordered the SHH-shifter again (gave my old one as a gift away) because I know this one will work 100%. In the end that's what counts, functionality. See ya... 🤘🏽

Great racing mate. 👊
Great race in Mustangs last night. If you ever run SM with NASA, come say hello!

Respect to both of you for analyzing the situation, learning from it and helping others learn. That's the spirit I love to see.
Dave you give good example.
Do not focus only on rubbish, highlight good behaviour in people
This is a wholesome video Dave.. I love those moments after a race where people applaud the racing from one or another..
Olivier is a real live Spec Miata driver that's why he's so fast and he's just 15
Excellent of him Mr. DC. Thats the attitude we should all have. Well done to you!

Yes I think that could be helpful to some 👍
I race in my socks too.
Another entertaining race.
Hi Dave What in ear headphones Do you use?
What a fight, kudos!
Hi,Dave. I was wondering if you process your audio through OBS and what software do you edit with ? Love the channel!
Yes all my audio goes through OBS via 2 channels. I can then control both the gameplay separately in the edit. I use premiere pro 👍
Thank you. Love the content.
Hi Dave! I see you blipping the throttle when downshifting. Does that make a significant difference in the Mazda specifically or in all cars? Relatively new to iRacing. Cheers!
It just settles the car much more. Make the rear less likely to break traction. Only really useful in the slower less sophisticated cars 😁
@@davecamyt Okay thanks, so not really used with GT3/GT4 cars?
@@toonyarts1366 no, with GT cars you don't need it as they have it built into the ECU 👍

how do you get all that info on the right. like weather and stuff ? can you see your tire temp ?
It's part of the Racelab overlay (linked below). No, unfortunately you can't get live tyre data from iRacing
Why are you blipping the throttle when you downshift? I’ve never done this before but I’m new to iracing and wonder if it’s a habit I should start?
Rev match só the rear doesnt lock and oversteer, the downshift for 1sr gear is the more import one, you can set it to auto in the options

No more sequential shifter for mx5?
VERY big fan of the 4 screen split sprinkled in the video, excellent addition to the aerial shots/cockpit cam. :)
Hi Dave , wonder why you tap the gas when downshifting?
Just to stop the car from becoming unsettled at the rear 👍
Nix on the four screen setup...Makes me fast forward to the regular screen setup.
I only do it when there's not much going on 👍
Looked him up, apparently Olivier is a 15 year old karting champion
this is very similar to most of my races, except I am next to last and the guy behind me is faster
