Additional information you should have mentioned- 1. Rates are revised every quarterly. 2. Interest is credited on 31st of March every year. 3. In PPF interest fo the same month is counted if deposited upto 5th day of the same month. 4. In case no amount is deposited in a year, next financial year amount to be deposited with a fine of Rs. 50. 5. In case of PPF loan and partial withdrawal, it is permitted after 3 and 7 years, but Loan can be taken for upto the amount deposited 3 years ago and 50%. 6. Most important, After 15 years in case of PPF, we have options - a. Withdraw total amount, ie, close the account. b. Continue for 5 years with deposits. c. Continue without deposits. And this 5 year term extentions can be made unlimited number of times.
Also, when Govt. introduced the SSY, the rate of interest was 9.4%.

80C limit is 1.5 lac per year, so on tax front you can show only 1.5 lac. If you continue to invest, on maturity no tax will be deducted
