Amazing-quality footage of an absolutely crushing performance from the DC legends. Recorded on February 13, 1991 at the Sacred Heart Church in Washington, DC
Women's is much better--men's is serve, dig, set, kill every time, largely because all the players are about 6'8" and hit about a foot above the net. Men's would be better if they raised the net maybe 4" (6" would be even better).
+Gabriel Ferreira Agreed man. It was completely necessary, Minor Threat was great, but there's a shit ton of contemporary bands that sound exactly like that. Fugazi had it's own style and took punk to another level.
Derek Scott Hi, we're a Punk band called Stookvogel. We've just released some new songs on our channel. We would really appreciate it if you take a listen and give us some feedback.
I remember reading an interview with him describing how, can't remember exactly but I believe it was particular to the (rickenbacker) guitar he was using.
the Ric is constructed with a tailpiece that's farther away from the bridge than, say, Ian's. The extra strength length has intonation. Sonic Youth does this all the time with Jazzmasters, which has even more string length (off the top of my head, think the beginning of 1987's "Stereo Sanctity.") Guy's playing behind his bridge through a high gain amplifier, distorting the high tones of the strings before the tailpiece. He's also fretting something, I think, which modifies the tone of the strings
I LOVE PUNK ROCK AND MEN'S VOLLEYBALL!

the coolest shit here is that it was recorded over another video tape...
The volley ball shot is priceless!!!!!
holy the guitar sounds sick on this one
Best thing Ian ever did in his career was disbanding Minor Threat and founding Fugazi.

Best thing Ian ever did was born and exist.
You're probably dead since my comment is 6 years late but half of Fugazi is Minor threat
Eu amo essa BANDA! AOS 48 ANOS NUNCA É TARDE!
2:00, dat unhuman level of sweat
this is one of the most special things I've seen. Just wow. WOW
i was there!! not true……however i saw them do this song outside in DC near the capitol about a year later.
Can we just celebrate Joe Lally?
He's a nice dude I take bass lessons over Skype with him
Only via the use of cliché
I take basket weaving lessons with him over facetime. We used to do Skype.
He is a very cool dude. I’m not basing that off of basketweaving, Skype or FaceTime. I just talked with him after a show once.
Oh that sweat string... nice.
I'm guessing someone dubbed the Fugazi show over a taped volleyball game? Didn't come with any source or gen info, so I'm not too sure.
It's kinda more rad because of it.
Wow.

I saw them in Melbourne of this year at Monash Uni.
Sim o are you trying to say you saw Fugazi this year???
No Melbourne 1991. I was 17 still remember it well.
awesome
I was there. juhuu!
Drums @3:01 oh my god
So fucking dope.
Jumpscare warning at 2:23
Can anyone explain how they made those sounds with the guitar?
Nicholas Budiman If you're meaning that scratching sound, you slide your pick down the low E string
+Gustav Danielsbacka thanks but, how'd Guy make the feedbacky scratchy dissonant noise? Did he do it like Ian did or what?

Ian MacKaye is my hero, and not just because we share a name lol
a church let this happen?
The intro reminded me of Sonic Youth's Inhuman for some strange reason.
All guitar feedback reminds me of Sonic Youth lol
I'm sure they were an influence.
@heavyminded09 no idea, it was on the source tape
Velveeta!
Everyone in fugazi look the same
Jim Carrey on drums
Is this the show where Baltimore's False Face Society opened for them?
It represents like, the people man, tossed around in the fucking system maaaan :P
I’m the 🔥 fire starter
1,2,3,4.... RIBENA!
Is this at a roller rink?
An old church, actually.
Yeah but what does it MEAN? Like, spiritually?
Give me some… Ribena!
Wow, Guy's guitar is all sorts of messed up and out of tune.
no, it's fine
Yeah, tune your ears up.
pretty sure its the tape wobble
AT that’s a good thing!
Looks like they don't master their guitars pretty well and just do noise instead....
At least the drummer is not too bad.....
