The most complete review of this game I have seen. It properly describes this game to address all the strong points of this game. I consider this as the definitive prequel strategy game. Components and game design were made with love. If you live the show you can feel the love and dedication. It has the bad batch card so you can be certain that this is not a legacy game. I have heard some criticism about this game and I was worried. Some seem to come from advanced players who probably enjoyed Rebellion more. For them, BGG forum has variants to please them. But others seem either nitpicky or plain hater mode. Some complain about game being too easy. Solution is to add more missions. Some say that with missions you rely on luck. Not true, aside of combat die there is no luck, just plain human decisions.

Been thinking of getting this game to play solo. Your review was clear, logical and easy to follow (others have been so confusing, jumping haphazardly around the steps). The game seems fun without complicated deck building (I have short “attention” span with deck building) and the quality of the miniatures looks like they could readily be used in miniatures skirmish games. Thanks, you have convinced me this game is worth buying 👍😁
After playing a ton of Pandemic (the original, expansions, legacy...) I was feeling a bit burned out to try more. This one however looks like it mixes things up enough to feel really fresh. Most of my kids also love Star Wars, so I think the theme will get them excited. I look forward to playing it 👍 Thanks for the great overview and review!
Played it a handful of times. Like how streamlined it is. I also like how easy it is to adjust difficulty. Wish they'd just release a second edition of defenders of the realm though.

Agree with this review. A perfect game for a hobbyist gamer who want to play something with their Muggle family. Not too complex but just deep enough that you don’t get bored.
Regarding Star Wars Risk, if you get Rebellion with expansion you can build a mini game with Rebellion components to simulate ROTJ final battle.
It’s great that each mission is an episode from the show. They really nailed the theme with this one. My favorite pandemic game by far.

Clone Wars but I’m theme biased. Really there pretty equal “objectively”.
In multi players, you can play with more Jedi. But can you put multiple villains together against multiple jedi?
Not really.. but you do that when you play Dooku. He incorporates all the villains with his abilities.

They had that planned and decided to just reprint 1st edition with an expansion about a year or two ago.

A die unlikely other Pandemic games... It is the third game with attack dice and fourth with dice in general.
And I am not counting the dice game, then 5,seems the majority of Pandemic games use dice.
