I wish you had gone a little bit more into the movement, Christian. Saying that it's "just" quartz isn't really fair. It's actually a unique 3 prong crystal that vibrates 8 times the rate of a standard quartz and is (claimed) accurate to +/- 10 seconds per year. The second hand sweep is beautiful to watch and very impressive for the technology. Also, while the style and heritage of this watch are nice, they got the size ENTIRELY wrong, in my opinion. I really wish they had stuck to the original 42mm.
To add to this, it’s specifically a 262 kHz precisionist movement with a chronograph complication which is a very similar to the movement on the Lunar Pilot (maybe even the SAME movement on the reissues). This movement is not only more accurate than many high end Swiss watches, but will in fact have a cleaner sweep than in-house movements found in many Swiss luxury watches. It’s considered to be the offspring of the accutron movement. In terms of heritage and performance, this watch is delivering tremendous value. A collector piece for sure. I plan on gifting this to my brother as a groomsman gift.
$750 for a quartz, all right. But why would it cost $2k for a mechanical movement? Shouldn't they be able to slap an ETA or Sellita in for a few hundred more and be more faithful to the original?
The chrono hand almost looks like it sweeps! Trying not to sound like a snob but I just don't do quartz unless something special like the original Seiko Alien (which I do own) or a few G-Shocks, which are kind of a must to own a couple! This Bulova is beautiful and just happens that I was looking at Bulova Super Seville Day-Date watches yesterday and wow have the prices really gone up on those pieces. Another awesome video.
hi, the chrono hand/seconds hand does sweep! This is a big feature of the Bulova UHF movement, it vibrates at a higher rate than regular quartz, providing a sweeping hand rather than a ticking hand. Almost the best of both worlds. :)
Cool watch. Almost considered amongst other archive series. BUT, like all the other archive series, they always botch the execution by making these "faux re-issues" 2-4mm too large from their respective original vintage models. This stars and Stripes 47mm round or so is wearable, I can wear a Seiko tuna, but it would have been better had they kept the original 43mm I beleive. I don't care so much they are using a high frequency quartz movement. They make those very good. However, I would have preferred a mechanical/automatic. It's the size which they need to keep in check. They did it with this stars and Stripes chrono. They did it with one of their pilot watches, they did it with their moon watch, and to be release, they did it with their devil diver.. Ok, they have a 40mm, but it is limited edition and only with orange dial. The main bulk and non-limited edition is 44mm at least. And, they didn't even scale up the dial?! So, you have a tiny dial inside a more jumbo case and u can literally see the gap in the dial with the space that's around the dial of the larger 44mm common stock version of the upcoming devil diver. I was really excited about this one until the final announcement and specs. Why Bulova?! Why?!
Love your channel mang! Not to be a total softy, but this segment inspires me to strive for a better relationship with my old man. Keep on killing it gentlemen!
And THIS is my favorite thing about doing this series. You're not the first person to tell me something like this and I always get so stoked when I hear it. I'm glad our ramblings over booze have inspired you, man.
Hey buddy! Our head writer, Logan, actually covered this subject somewhat in a "Watch 101" article that I'll link below for you to check out. Hope it helps some!! theoandharris.com/watch-101-are-tag-heuer-watches-any-good/
@Scott Barnett Eh. Not really. I have one so does a friend of mine. Keep in mind it doesn't have protruding lugs. It doesn't extend past my wrist and I have a pretty average maybe even small wrist.
@Scott Barnett The biggest issue (well the only issue really) was the fact that the hands weren't aligned on all of the little chrono dials so it looked pretty cheap, if you know what you're looking for. It definitely wasn't worth the initial asking price but for 200-300 I thought it was a pretty good watch. A friend of mine who has one wears it every day
Dawn Keebolz totally but I bought it used for $150 and honestly the quartz movement is freaking nice - go check the specs. I bought it because of that movement
Honestly i love your reviews but this is the first i didnt like, this was not what this watch deserved, especially about the 262khz movement. I do not own or owned any so i was curious to see what you have to say there but it looks a little like you did not made your homework about it. Or you had the 2nd bottle allready, could explain the sunglasses, cheers guys, looking forward :)
Kieren Moore ape roll is made up of bitter orange, rhubarb, cinchona, and other ingredients, just answered my own question, thx for pushing me to look it up. Cheers
Well, aperol spritz is from Veneto and is a shitty drink. You have to make a "pirlo" . It's Campari, white still wine, seltz and a slice of lemon. This the true original drink from Brescia, Lombardia. Aperol spritz it's just a rip off. Cheers!

You've got the kind of relationship with your son, I wish I had with mine .God bless you both.
5:17 "Should I take off the Rolex for this? ... Nahh"
Good catch!
pilotstyle123 hahahahaha exactly
Just bought this watch for 100

I think Bulova doesnt do mechanical anymore. Their top line is high frequency quartz.
I love Bulova but never by them at retail. List is $750 but you can grab them around 500. Even a little less if you're lucky.

Old video but it was originally released in 1975 to celebrate the bicentennial year. The nickname is the Stars and Stripes.
It's actually $450 on Amazon. Also no mention of it's UHF movement.
Review starts at 4:44
I would buy it for $300 like my Bulova Lunar Pilot. Looks like they used the same movement.
Love both of your sunglasses .... what are they?

Strong review with a strong Drink!!
I am against fake watches, but we never know why some people buy. By all means, they have rights to do whatever they want with their money

Do you want to review my 1950’s Jaeger LeCoultre Powermatic that is untouched?
I’m a 18 year old watchmaker and watch collector from South Africa 🇿🇦
**CLAPS** Rollie!!! Lol. Great!
alcoholism made classy :D
Levente Fazekas how was any if that indicative of alcoholism
that spritz isn't that alcoholic...a classy boozer would've made a Negroni or a Boulevardier with that Aperol
If you are a good judge of people, these boys are pretentious af. Pretentious classiness aka fake.
Yes to the drinks. A big no to the watch. :)
Do you guys remember to perfume your toes with deodorant before you stick'em in your shoes?
Dawn Keebolz: "ameriacans" ??? No, and their bad spelling also seems to need some extra brush up as well ,-)
Dawn Keebolz: Well, I'm not - Aaaaaaahh! ha!ha!ha!
Not so good, the company director put a contract killer on me, I may only have little time left.
Rollie sells Cadillacs.
Roli Roland is the best!!!!!!!
Why aren't you wearing gloves Christian ? Hahahaha
Squaad?
I think the straps make the watch look even bigger. Pass.

I once bought a "BOLIVIA" in Time Square. What a piece of junk.

Just because Bulova has decided to raid the back catalogue , doesn’t mean they should ! Like the Lunar model tho ....
This channel is going downhill very quickly!
downhill? means coasting freely?
I stopped watching after the son pronounced Bulova wrong smh
Over-endorsed quartz watch.
sponsored video? this watch is trash for the cost, maybe worth considering for $150.
Bulova Quartz for 750...fossil quartz for 100 same design..
