If you all are having problems with not getting many drops like me, use a lever instead of a button. Once you turn the lever on, immediately turn it back off. The button causes the lava to burn the drops before they can make it to the hoppers.

I found a fix. When the cows get burned by the lava ( use a stone button) they will jump to the water ruining the system. Do it one more block below so that doesnt happen, also if the baby cows are not dropping put slabs below the block of the trapdoors so you can interact with them. If you close them the cows will stand in the trapdoor and then just open them again and they will fall!
