What 3D objects have you made in Adobe Illustrator?
Always love your content!
chocolate :3
a can. Like a coca cola can
There are a number of good 3d graphics programs that will knock the socks off Illustrator starting from $0. Will showed making some primitives. He did not show how he used this feature in Illustrator for a real project. It would be interesting to see a video from Will using Blender, Maya, or other such software.
@@teckyone you'd be better off with a 3d package that specialises in 3d.
slowly giving up on graphic design and freelance in general due to my beloved country Algeria :) you can't even get a pc that easily, you're the only motivation left for me out there, so I would like to thank you so much for the great content you deliver! thank you indeed.
Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time :( I hope things pick up for you

A reply from my favorite designer!! what a wonderful day today is ♥
Hahha same here brother, it's hard to even get your money. Teboun is ruthless 😂

I'm a Graphic designer from Zambia, lol. I stumbled upon one of your videos where you gave us amazing design tips in under ten minutes! I was so inspired and absolutely loved it. I'm subscribed.
Will, you're such a great teacher and brilliant designer.. Thanks for sharing your skill, it's obviously coming from a place of love.. We appreciate you
That means a lot! Thank you :)
This is so simple yet so incredible! Can’t wait to try it out! Thanks!
I always use the classic version as that is what I have been used to and I have shied away from the newer version. This vid has helped explained the options. I will have to give it a go.
Oh dang, super excited to try this out with some of my logo work. Didn’t even know it could do this! Thank you!!
Haven't used this yet, thanks for this tutorial!
This video really helps me, thx!
This is great thanks Will
Thanks Will, really appreciate you finding and sharing these. I likes Rajesh's designs too, can you share his link or links to the other video? Cheers mate 👍
wow! just did this. thank u for easy explanation !
You're welcome!
great lesson.cheers mate
This saved me from having to learn blender to make some 3d models to print. Thank you.
Wow. Gonna give that a try. That would have taken me an hour to do in Lightwave, back in the day.
I'd love to see what you make if you'd like to upload to the Reddit!
Great video! I have a question about how to adjust stuff. I have played around with this and would love to be able to separately control the color of the shadow side of the object (not the shadow feature that generates a cast shadow -to be clear- but the FORMED shadow side) rather than the black. I've looked at several tutorials and searched for this and can't find the answer. Just the same way you can pick a drop shadow color, you should be able to pick the formed shadow color on the object itself.
Great content mate!! 💪🏼
Glad you liked it!
Oooh... I missed this feature. When was this added to Illustrator? I've been using Xara for quick and easy 3D things before since it's had a cool extrude feature as long as I've been using it, and I still prefer Xara for bitmap handling and sometimes for drawing new freehand vector shapes, but for everything else, I prefer Illustrator. For more complex 3D mockups I've also been using Keyshot, but this will definitely make my life easier.
I'm definitely trying this out right now.
Very good explanation...thanks :)
I love the 3D stuff
love u man
Best Feature added for Adobe Company is 3D Effect ❤
Just came across this channel today. Will be using this to create the #36daysoftype ! Thank you so much :) Subscribing for more! YAY
Hey man thanks for the amazing tip. Would it be possible that I let the spheres move in AE and shadow moves accordingly? Could you give us the tutorial or tip on the comments? Thanks bro!
Thanks for this super clear tutorial!
You're very welcome!
Your shadows have these realistic reflective parts to it. I followed the tutorial but my 3D shapes seem to miss that shiny reflective shadow part behind the light source.
Thank you for an amazing tutorial! I was wondering if you can import 3D illustration to adobe after effects. Please, let me know. Thanks
Amazing stuff
Thank you very much! :)
Can you render in higher quality? It's a great tool but it's always a little too blurry/ pixelated to include in decks and presentations.
Thank you
Omg.... this was amazing!
I'm glad it was helpful!
actually, it's not 100% vector, it's a vector when it's saved in ai format and opened on the newest adobe illustration version. I tried to save it as eps, but it will change to raster and I can't change the color. I think this 3d effect will play in the mesh tool, but it's not
Cool Video! actually working with these effects atm... Is there an easy way to export and animate the created shapes? Has anyone an Idea?
Does it maintain the scalability as a vector object after using the 3D feature? Say if I created a logo and wanted to scale it up or down. Would it maintain the 3D appearance? Thanks! Love your videos!
This thing Im also interested to know. Tried to save it as an eps, but that gives a bitmap unfortunately. But I think it is possible in some way. But how?
Cool!
gr8 contribution for rookies
Very good, i like illustrator
I have this sort of grain effect when i click on extrude or Inflate, how can i delete this to get smooth shadows ? Thank you
Good morning. Eating breakfast and watching your educational content as always.
Good morning! Cereal and a tutorial is definitely a balanced breakfast!
@@willpatersondesign Hahaha indeed. Need those Capn Crunch vitamins and minerals.
My class doesn't have access to Adobe Dimension. Is it possible to utilize Properties>Roughness without having Dimension?
Thank you so much!
cool stuff
The outcome is raster and not vector, if I am not mistaken.
Nice!!!
How can i add an gradient on a 3D Figure?
I would like a 3D drop with gradient
I've made a design I want to be able to scale and print it without loss of quality, do i need to change it back to a 2d shape? Or is that not possible? Many thanks!
amazing..
sir what is your PC Specification ?
I don't have the 3D and materials option. Do you know why?
hay im having a Ram/blocking message issue here. i just started using this feature and for like the first 2 days it was all fine but today it's kicking me and i can't find a solution, ¿what can i do?
funky
This is like when they added IIllustrator functionality into Photoshop. Now its Substance and Dimension functions in Illustrator. It wont be long before we just get one piece of software that will do everything!
I just realized why I wasn't getting good results. Instead of compound path, I've been putting objects in a group 0:36
I would like to create this effect, but I don’t know if it’s possible with the Ipad
Hi . What are the computer specifications that you use ?
Will do something with golf a bit
I wonder what happens when you press Expand once you finish the design 😳 I feel like my computer would instantly crash lol
why are my 3D options not working? everything is grey and I can't click anything
great tutorial but why i cannot export it into vector...
Which version you are using?
Why this feature can't use GPU? My CPU always get 85c when trying to render my projects.
The properties drop down will not show up in my materials???
Ok, I’ve have a complicated illustration and I played around with 3D. Now I want to turn it off. How? I have found a way in appearances to delete the function one by one. But this illustration has numerous shapes. Is it right in front of me and I cannot see the answer… maybe you need another video to show us how. 😉
Is this feature available on iPad?
Hi maybe you now why render 3D is very slow hiw fix it?
Which adobe illustration version ur using
My poor PC creates artefacts for bigger in size files and there are white squares in the middle of the shadow. If I remove the shadow it is all fine... :( I guess 3070 is not enough for that monster of a software! :D
Great work. You're a genius! 3D in Illustrator, wow! i have a crappy PC so rendering those effects is gonna be a fire hazard. Hahahahahahaha!
it shows me that many of the 3d functions in illustrator are not supported
Why did Illustrator drop the Perspective function in this new upgrade?
which version of Illustrator is this on?
This is awesome. Will it work with text?
It does, I used it for school projects.
@@agusbc6399 Thanks.
hey there i need some help with pattens on 3d effect
which is a logo not a circle or basic shape can you assist me
please
I can try! What are you needing help with? :)
3d and materials not showing please help me illustrator 2020
Can I do that on my iPad ? How ?
That jacket tho
If I do this on my old pc I guess it explodes in my face
i have a question, an error occurred while processing the appearance of an object what to do ?
I'm not sure, I would research the error message
same
Can i get this in text
Yeah if only Adobe Products weren't an absolute mess and basically unusable in an actual use case. Slow, laggy, sluggish and simple vectorizing by hand is a nightmare.
Been using Affinity Designer for years now and recently tried Illustrator again and it made me furious how bad the performance is.
Sorry had to vent bit. Great video though :D
Whats the font from the thumnail?
Thank you in advance!
Humane :)
@@willpatersondesign Thank you.
For the video too
People who use Blender:
Adobe is ambitious! This upgrade bring design trends to another path!!!! It's cool to see things get new tools.
I use blender too but this Adobe feature is great for people who don't have such a powerful system but still want to make some fun 3d art
@@PennyGetYour0wnWifiYes,It's For Me. Sometime I Need Simple 3D Objects For My Design But I Don't Want To Install And Learn A New Powerful Tool
man im a beginner to graphic designing im struggling alot on using PEN TOOL , Can you please make a video or PIN a Video of HOW TO USE PEN TOOL video it will be very helpful
I did a video all about it! Here you go :ruclips.net/video/EJtVAiXddnk/видео.html
@@willpatersondesign thank you so much .... 👍🥹
I don't have INFLATE BOTH SIDES.
looking at a 3d model and saying it looks flat :)
So is this why 3D's kinda dying in Photoshop? 😯
