Soul is one of my all time favorite movies ever! Partly because I'm also a pianist but mostly because it just hit so close to my personal beliefs. That you don't need a great job, good education, be good looking or talented or even have a purpose to have a beautiful, meaningful life. Life is beautiful and meaningful as is. The rest is icing on the cake.
There are too many similarities. Black male pianist, and then going to another realm? And there are more similarities too. Exact phrases that are in my book that are in that movie. I may go after Pixar, I think elements from my book were used to make this movie. Don’t think it’s a coincidence. This is my book synopsis. My book came out in 2018 by the way. And it’s a series. The third book was released last month. Jimmy is a runaway boy, saddened by the tragedies that have happened in his life. The only thing still keeping him motivated, is his love for music. He’s outside, practically freezing in the cold, until he knocks on a door. This door is the Music Man’s. Jimmy and the Music Man find out they share a passion for music. Cornelius, also known as the Music Man, then introduces Jimmy to his famous piano that’s in his attic. After both of them play a song that Cornelius wrote, the piano transports them to a magical parallel dimension. In this other dimension, Cornelius is a famous conductor and composer who has an upcoming concert in the town of Harmony. However, there is another conductor, by the name of Hornsbury. And Hornsbury wants power. He is planning to possess the Harmonians, using his music, no matter the cost........ www.amazon.com/Music-Man-Moonyani-Write-ebook/dp/B07J9LR93T/ref=nodl_
Female Jerry's voice is impossibly soothing. Really enjoyed Graham Norton and Richard Ayoade's voices too because i absolutely adore them! And the legendary Tina Fey!
@Alano Carter oh... yeah... but I’d love to see not just Korean, Japanese, and Chinese, I want to see more. Maybe in the upcoming movies there is, but thanks anyway.
Jamie really age well and still looks like he's 29. Just a good looking guy whose took 52 trips around the sun and don't get me started on the beautiful Angela Bassett.
I nearly gave up on this film, thought it was dragging a bit in first 30 mins or so but so glad I stuck with it and have watched it 3 times in 3 days. Wonderful. Beautiful.
Even though she didn't get much screen time, I have to say that Angela Bassett's character was my favorite. Especially when she gave that piece of advice in the form of a story. In that single scene was so much wisdom, experience and hardships faced and overcame. Wonderfully written and performed. This movie is one of my all time favorites.
An "Average Joe " if you will. 😏 And what's also kind of interesting is that at _first_ ; Joe only had himself in mind when helping out 22, try to find her spark to get the pass so that he can use it to get back down to earth.
My son love this movie. He is only 1 year old and smile every time they play music and see Joe. He loves all the scene when Joe went to the great beyond and the great before.
credit is also due to the character of Terry, the eccentric accountant of the Great Beyond. I could not believe it was female artist who did the voice over.
Oddly, I thought of this movie a lot in the months before my brother died. I always kinda thought about this movie when hearing about someone I know dying, but the symbolicness preceeding my brother's death is chilling. Joe reminded me of my brother, who tragically died unexpectedly.
Beautiful movie, my girls (13 and 6) and I enjoyed it a lot, even at one point we were crying a lot lol. Great form to explain the before and after life without talking about God
Some things that I have to point out on this video that probably everyone also noticed: - Questlove cut his hair and still looks as cool as ever. - Peter, the director, looks like an animated character - Angela Basset doesn't age and looks dazzling in that pink sports outfit.
BTW, "Just us" is my favorite soundtrack of the movie... the moment Joe Garner sees 22 off to her last lane to earth knowing he's gonna stop halfway. The movie is deep
7:13 when it cuts from the real life shot of the show creator talking to the barber tools, I thought for some reason they were about to show some real life barber shop scene... then the next shot made me realize the previous one with the scissors was actually animated and not real life. Animation is scary good nowadays
As a musician and a jazz lover, this movie really resonated with me. My one gripe with it is that the character of Connie (possible reference to the wind instrument manufacturer C.G. Conn?) was criminally underutilized.
Tbh I was expecting to see Lisa, then she married to Joe, and then 22 becomes their baby. Cuz truly Joe and 22 at that last scene giving father - daughter vibe hardddd
OMG I could not agree more with you!!!! I totally wish that she ended up as his kid; but not biological rather adopted, at least that's the way I would do it. : )
