    thanks for putting this on my radar. i don't really follow sofirn closely, but im certainly impressed by this. it's a freaking battletoad of a torch!

      Glad I could help! It's a great budget friendly dual beam/lumen monster. I run mine with a Molicel P42A though as it's brighter and the stock cell struggles to handle high power demands.

      It's hard to tell from a video, what's you opinion on this I have a sofrin sp70 is this light better? I'm not that impressed with the sp70 overall I do like the if 22A

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  6 месяцев назад +1

      I like this light a lot but it's let down by that terrible battery. Unless you're willing to use it with a 21700 cell (you'll need a spacer) then I'd get the SP70 instead even though it's longer. It'd be more practical. @@jamesmcfarland2636

    absolutely love my TS32, it's got that pleasant nichia 519A tint, a good old 3x21700 config, separate buttons for spot and flood, and comes included with a removable handle. I'd imagine this sofirn is the more lightweight version of it.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah I really think that 3x21700 config would have been best with this light.

    Reminds me a lot of the Fenix LR40R which is 15000 lumens but the Sofirn is considerably less expensive especially right now on amazon.

      There is also a Wurkkos version that takes 3x18650 if I remember right.

    That foreground beam is just blinding while the SFT40 equipped spotlight kind of pales in comparison when both are turned on. It's almost like turning on three Sofirn IF23s for the foreground and switching on an IF22A for the distance. I think the thrower is best used alone so that the user can concentrate on the distant spot and not getting bedazzled by the short range spill. Only something like the Imalent MS32 is able to cover both the distance and the foreground without needing a dual light setup. 😀
    I'm not a fan of this large battery format. Not many manufacturers make the 32650 size cell and one that has the Olight brand on it is not exactly cheap. 😑

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Месяц назад +1

      It gets pretty hot and also, the 32650 is not ideal as I'm not aware of any high drain versions of this cell. I used a 21700 in there. Molicel P42A!

    • @StratmanII
      @StratmanII Месяц назад

      @@DarrenYeoYT Good call using the 21700 in lieu of that bulky 32650!
      I did a quick search for this cell format and only found LiFePO4 cells with unheard of brands (not Molicel, Samsung or VapCell).
      I've bought a pair of Molicel P42As too and they're used in my Sofirn SC33 and Wurkkos TS23. 🔦🔋

      @@DarrenYeoYTthe stock 32650 in the olight marauder mini lasts a very very long time on turbo. As a matter of fact turbo lasts a long time also. I am very impressed with it.

      Yeah or even 21700 cells. I run mine with a single 21700 (Molicel P42A). The IF30 has its caveats but if you can deal with them, it's a great budget friendly high lumen flashlight.

  • @therealdarcman
    @therealdarcman 8 месяцев назад

    I got one. The cell it comes with is kinda cheezy, its ok but not a real high drain cell. The IF30 performs better with a HD Molicel 21700 P45B in it...heats up though, but it is quite a bit lighter. Hard to get away from heat in a small light with high lumens. It is simple to use and sure makes for a great all around light for anyone to use.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  8 месяцев назад

      Yeah I agree with using that Molicel P42A/B. Only issue is reduced capacity. 3x21700... That should have been use here

  • @dialucrii31
    @dialucrii31 8 месяцев назад

    I think the next version of this light could be fantastic, once they've ironed out the kinks. Perhaps then it will crush the olight marauder mini, but right now it can't compete, even at the much lower price and with the option of simultaneous flood and throw (a huge edge over the marauder mini).
    I'm a big sofirn fan and for value for money you can't beat them, but for now there are too many compromises with this one, run times being the biggest for me.
    It's great to see all these simultaneous-flood/throw lights being released, but I find myself holding back due to really short turbo times and massive drop downs. Olight run times and reasonable drop downs have spoiled me. 😂

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  8 месяцев назад +1

      The battery situation is the biggest limitation IMO. But it's still great value, and a high drain 21700 will work nicely. Dual beam lights are awesome.. thought they were a gimmick at first but they're actually very practical.

  • @TopDog8762

    The included battery is woefully insufficient. The included Sofirn 32650 6500mAh lion 3.7v battery cell is dangerous. That cell can only provide 6.7 amps and the IF30 draws up to 37 amps in turbo. Try using a Molicel P42A, or a P45B, 21700 45A something that can handle over 40 amps of current. For more information see the comment sections of videos of CharlesBridgTec and PiercingTheDarkness they did on the Sofirn IF30.

    • @voixdelabime
      @voixdelabime 7 месяцев назад +2

      Interesting. What about a 32700 battery that can sustain 35A? It has about the physical size of a 32560 battery, so it will fit in the flashlight tube. However, the ones I have seen provide 3.2V. I don't know if this may be a problem.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  8 месяцев назад

      If I have the luxury to think/chill - Anduril is fine. Stuff like around the house, camping, fishing. Otherwise, I prefer a more simple UI these days. Especially because I like tactical lights with momentary mode. I got a bit of flack for saying this in a forum but it's how I feel after owning tons of lights.

  • @doktorb3at

    Careful with this one Darren. The battery on this flashlight cannot handle the output at sustained turbo. The flashlight can (will?) damage the battery.

    For the price, I wish they added a copper body or something to add more thermal capacity...kind of disappointing that the turbo lasts under a minute. I guess that's basically every flashlight though, not even my fat q8 plus can hold turbo.

      I wonder how Olight managed to get a high drain 32650 cell. I'm assuming the marauder mini has similar specs to IF30. But yes, I think it'd be better with two or three high drain cells. Sofirn could create a new battery pack and that'd improve things greatly.
