The definitive version, to me. My first KISS album - got it in '75, been a fan ever since. Paul Stanley @ 2:00 - "I can't hear ya!", and at 3:05 - "What??" are the quintessential showman at his best! Even when I listen to the studio version, I hear his inserts at those times in my head. LOL
Gene's singing here is just the best. Ace and Peter are unbelievable. Paul is the man. Just a fantastic example of what makes KISS so great. And Ace's solo is tasteful and just badass.
It was done in the studio, only person live is Peter here and Ace I believe. Vocals were done in studio, and the crowd noise was replaced with this one and looped.
This is the version the AM Radio Stations played. This is better than the Taylor Swift crap these kids like today. It hit me, Elvis Presley was still alive when this came out. Elvis liked Led Zeppelin, and covered one of their songs.
This is the time period to me that was the best. They all just plugged in to the amps and played raw real music. If a mistake was made, that’s rock n roll. Now all these band use tracks and want to make sure they are not seen making a mistake. I will always love these good ole raw hard rock days !
I was there also, stage left in front of Gene Simmons. He tossed me a pick but in the commotion I lost the damn thing. Lots of great shows came through Detroit in beautiful 'Air conditioned Cobo Arena'
Yeah I’m not a KISS fan per se. I never thought that much of their music in general nor their get up. And I’ve heard that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are both horrible and miserable nasty people in private. But this is a damn good rock song. One of the classics, real banger. This is one song where KISS hit the mark.
I remember in the mid 70's all the kids in my neighborhood would dress up as their favorite Kiss members for Halloween. Looking back it was f*****g awesome!
This is the version of the song that I always hear on the PYX 106 radio station. I love this version. It's better than the non-live version where it just repeats the chorus and fades to silence.
Our local radio station would always play the studio version of this song until i called them up and said.. "Are you on crack??" any KISS fan worth their salt knows the live version is THE version of the song. From then on they played this version. That's just lazy program directing and radio programers who simply don't know their jobs.
roquefortfiles you need to run for some kind of office, you can get program directors to listen to you instead of the numbers its amazing!! DJ's do not pick their songs.. i know sorry to burst that bubble, yes they can have maybe 2 songs or if its an all request lunch or day or whatever, but to only and forever play this version because of YOU!!! well you are already a politician .... full of shit..
dawn fillinger Uh..ANY kiss fan knows the live version of this song kicks the snot out of the studio version. There is NO COMPARISON. The studio version is weak and has little energy. When you plop on the version from Alive the ENTIRE SONG comes to life. It is palpable. Why would anyone bother having a 3 when you can have a 9? And what does this have to do with being a politician? This is about music and any guitarist or musician anywhere KNOWS the live version of this song KILLS the studio.
I was 14 years old in 1975 and had been long into music as I had an older sister that had a decent album collect of some good music and my life long favorite band was the Allman Brothers then and now till this day but KISS ALIVE was the very first album I actually bought and didn't pinch from my sister or somebody else. It rocks.
awesome song the very first kiss song i ever heard what awesome song one hell of band i wish that ace and peter was still in band is alive album is always at number 1
What a great idea... to have a great time in their own lives and live by the words of this song ... God I miss these guys...and their music just proves that rock and roll was their lives
Saw them in person when I was 15 years old, at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Hollywood, Fl. Best concert, and fire visuals I've ever seen. Ace Frehley was my favorite of the four..
this is my favorite alive album love all the songs on this record i have this one cassette tape i want to get it on record the original 4 still kick ass today this song is still great it will never die 100 percent gene what a great singer and bass player

I'm not much of a Hard Rock Fan, but I have 101% respect of Gene Simmons & his wife, Shannon. I watched almost ever episoded on A & E TV Network of Gene Simmons and his families reality show. In the show, I looked up to Gene like I did my Dad, due to Gene's Show came on right after my Dad passed away. I own a small business, & I would love to sit down with Gene and get his advice on things. My Dad was a country music song writter in Nashville. Gene is one smart man, Nick & Sophie are great too!
Hola, es que esta versiòn es una mezcla de ambas, el solo de guitarra, por ejemplo, se introdujo en estudios, seguramente en vivo con toda la parafernalia estaba desafinada..
Very good buddie, good video and sound too. And special congratulations for the photos and editio. Damn!!!! I love this song,....... By the way the cherry on the pie,the final photos with their autograph.
I’ve always wondered who the two guys we’re on the album holding up the poster of the band. Must be one of the coolest events in their lives. Believe that was at MSG.
Love this band since I was a a kid 43 now and still listing to this Peter criss sound s awesome on them drums and Ace on guitar dammm best band in the nation
I never saw them in concert, but I'm old enough to remember this song firsthand. It came out in early '76, when I was in 7th grade. I'll be 61 next June 10.
This is the best version by far! Because not only does it have "C'mon!", "I can't hear you!", and "What!" respectively before each chorus, but it also has that epic guitar solo. This is the version I'm most familiar with because it was in Guitar Hero III. The original version just repeats the chorus until it fades out, it doesn't have that proper ending or the epic guitar solo.
The first couple of years after this album came out, I didn't know Gene Simmons sang this song. I wasn't a KISS fan. But, I liked 'cause of the drums. I was partial to drums.
Wasn't a real fan, but, I was always partial to the drums! So... Ah, the 1970s!🥁🎸🎶 On a side note KISS came to Fresno CA. for the first time August 17th 1977, my 17th birthday. And, also Elvis died the day before. They dedicated this song to Elvis.
I Love you kiss FUCK YEAH!!!! KISS FUCKING RULES!!!! THIS SONG KICKS SERIOUS ASS LIVE!!!!! Great job!!! Killer slide show!!! Some great VINTAGE pics!!!
Bassist to Dust, Stories, Rod Stewart & Hall & Oates limoed me, Bonnie Ann fradkin into the garden backstage to the KISS concert and their after party pool side with a buffet. Kenny was a guest speaker at Pace U where I graduated from BA English/Education for my history of rock class, i achieved an A. Jewish Kenny, Paul and Sabra Jewish Gene are Jewish like me, a pianist, drummer and recorder, also lyricist.
Ace's tone in that solo is classic 70's style with a Les Paul fully cranked. So fitting for the time.

Absolutely, the best version.

I loved Ace but had to go as Gene because the makeup was much easier. 😅👍
This is the version of the song that I always hear on the PYX 106 radio station. I love this version. It's better than the non-live version where it just repeats the chorus and fades to silence.
I agree 100%! I never really cared for the studio version... There's no guitar solo!
TheCOTN It's nice to have a follower. Thank you for agreeing with me.
