What I always liked about ACE a lot, is the fact he kept it simple. No whamy bars, no foot pedals, just plugged into a Marshall amp cranked all the way up. All his sound comes from him no special tricks.
Funny story, Mom got me this album when I was a young kid and it first came out. Folks had gotten me a record player for my birthday and two albums of my choice.. without hesitation it was this and Frampton. Since I was young, I wasn't allowed to play my records after bedtime. Well one night while my folks and family were asleep, I just wanted to hear this song so bad that I thought I would just be sneaky and play it super low one time. The record player was on the nightstand right next to my bed. Earlier in the day I'd had my headphones plugged into it so I naturally had it full blast. With the whole house now sound asleep (and my Dad being one of the parents everywhere who absolutely hated KISS), I started the record player and reached over in the dark to turn down what I thought was the volume knob. The second that needle hit the vinyl.. well I think every light in the house came on in about 2 seconds.. Ahh.. memories..
When I was a kid, I wanted this album more than life itself. My mother presented me with "KISS Alive" during Christmas of 1975. She then became, "literally", the coolest mum of all time. I didn't know then that, again literally, because of what my mother had done to me, I had encountered the coolest song relative to Rock n' Roll, of all time. It took me a couple of months to get to LP two (because I kept listening to LP one, side one and side two), and then side two of LP two (because I kept listening to LP two, side one). But that last track? Awwwww yeah! "Let Me Go Rock and Roll" is the essence of rock'n'roll. The song is a self fulfilling prophecy. It's what KISS is and will always be to me. I cannot hear that song loud enough and cannot rock long enough.
+jett peters Thanks Jett. You have to admit, KISS is a measuring point. Only few bands come close. Maybe Cheap Trick does. AC/DC definitely does. It's not about how technically good the band is. It's about the fans and how much they touch base. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons got that. That's what made KISS so perfect, even if they weren't technically perfect. They gave you one HELL of a show and made the ticket price worthwhile. "Let Me Go Rock and Roll" remains one of the great concert moments of all time. And the blatant use of Chuck Berry chords is part of what makes it great. Led Zepplin is great. Black Sabbath is also great particularly if one listens to the early albums. Deep Purple also may have made one of the greatest live albums of all time (Made In Japan - please listen if you have time). But "KISS Alive!"? Magic.....simply rock 'n roll magic.
When I listen to this, it always gives me goosebumps. There's a reason Ace Frehley is one of if not the most influential guitarist of all time, because of the guitar solos like the ones he pulled off in this song. In my opinion, this is the best live rock song ever. Ace's guitar playing makes this so special. You can't help but snap your fingers and tap your feet to this.
+Jamey Simms I admit he "ain't all that" but he is still one of the most influential guitar players of all time. I personally love the way he plays but I also know he isn't one of the "best of all time", it doesn't matter he was a role model for quite a few guitar players. That makes him one of the best in my mind.
yes...I think this song is much better than "rock and roll all night". and Ace is absolutely at his best in this song...perfect ending for one of the greatest albums of all time.
The whole song is a solo for Ace! To me, if anybody wanted to know what Ace was all about, all they had to do was listen to this song. And for a little dessert, top it off with the very short solo on "Making Love". It freaking melts!
I was at this show in 1975 at Cobo Hall. We sat in the very last row at the very top. I drove my 1967 Impala with a few buds. I still think this is the best song on the whole album, and believe me I wore out the whole thing many times over. Detroit - Rock City. Bone-F'ing-Crushing.
I’m sorry, but I think you may have caught them elsewhere on this tour. This was recorded at what is now the Adler Theater in Davenport Iowa. You can hear him say “What’s Up Quad Cities!”
The thing with this particular track is it's honest homage to Chuck Berry, the party feel of his music, and the band's attempt at a "thank you". I think it was a grand "thank you" and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley should be congratulated.
I remember buying this album in late 1976 after I bought ‘Rock and Roll Over’ and listening to it with my headphones on blasting !!! This was one the best songs on the album!!! Ace killed it !!! Kiss was the band !!! All four members killed it !!!!!
I thought (Rock n All Night) was good......................Then this bad boy came on...................YOU GOTTA BE F#CKING KIDDING ME!!!!!...........62 YO ROCKER AND THIS STILL SENDS CHILLS DOWN MY SPINE.........I was a 17yo new driver on the road and this was my first album pumping out of the speakers.........................KICK ARSE STUFF..............
What a killer live album, what a mega great Rock'n'Roller as the crowning glory, what a super strong KISS photo show that you present to us!!! Many thanks from Germany!!!
Exactly right. For an album they wanted sold internationally they didn't want one particular city name to be used on the album, they wanted to sound like a concert that could have been played anywhere.
I'm fixing too turn 46. I was jamming this in 1st grade. Knew every word. Saw them finally lol when I was 8 in 79. Original lineup. I will never forget it. I still go see them everytime they come to Nashville
I always thought Ace was underrated as a guitarist. I think Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons liked to keep him in the shadows, but when they did solo albums Ace showed them who the real boss was!
Ace was the best.... Have you heard the Hall of Fame speech? When it was Ace's turn, one of the fans yells out, "you made them great" Ace professionally said quietly, "I know" ruclips.net/video/yQbknVlw52s/видео.html
The best Kiss ever sounded hands down!!!! The energy is raw and they never could top this. All 4 members were hitting on all cylinders. This was the anthem not RARAN.
@Brian W apparently, you dont know how to take a light hearted joke.....I never said you were wrong. I just made a joke about believing everything you read on Wikipedia. Honestly, we are ALL internet marks. So, take, it down a notch or 2 and have a great day man. Peace. Bigger things to be mad about, dude.
I agree. Ace didn't use anything except his guitar and amp. No goodies. Straight up rock and roll. Never heard anyone with such a bluesy rock sound like ace. Blew me away at the age of 16. And still does at 61. Ace put rock and roll in my veins. I rock out most everyday still. Drums and guitar. Keeps me fit and young at heart. Try it. Might work for you too. Don't end up old at fat. You'll regret it. Rock on.
I worked for 3 days painting my grandparents house & got $11.00 , straight to the local record shop & the rest is history.... That toggle switch.... 🤣🤣👍🇳🇿🤟
One of the best guitar solos of all time.
Made me want to pick up a guitar and never out it down
i totally agree! just something about Ace - he had style!
Absofuckinglutely
The whole song is one long guitar solo as far as I'm concerned 🎉
If I had to pick just one KISS song..this would be the one.
My favorite album. No doubts whatsoever. This is what rock 'n' roll is all about!
This was my first Rock and roll record when I was in 4th grade....lol thrown to the wolves!
Ken Maziarz best live song by Kizz !!!! Listen to Ace “””””
Listen to this masterpiece’. All 4 parts of a Band Revved to the MOON AND STARS “””
Amen brother...
Yes sir!
What I always liked about ACE a lot, is the fact he kept it simple. No whamy bars, no foot pedals, just plugged into a Marshall amp cranked all the way up. All his sound comes from him no special tricks.
KISS ALIVE album is considered one of the best live albums that came out of the 70s. It still is a great album and will live on forever!
It ought to be half decent with all those overdubs!
Greatest KISS song. And one of the top 10 all-time greatest rock ‘n’ roll songs in history.
Funny story, Mom got me this album when I was a young kid and it first came out. jmaxg lucky you my mom bird all mine! LOL including my 1978 Ace Frehley solo 8-track
jmaxg I meant to say my mom burned them
EVER heard of the EDIT function? And your mum, (no disrespect) was a PHILISTINE!

He's cool but he aint all that

Or when Ace takes it home at the end of Cold Gin.WOW!
+tim hewitt He's not the best ever, but NO ONE sounds like ACE!
I too get goosebumps listening to the last couple minutes of the song when I crank it to 10. Wow, what an ending.
THis song just kills it, nails it, and knocks it out of the park! Go Ace, you are the man!!
MASTERPIECE!!!!!!
yes...I think this song is much better than "rock and roll all night". and Ace is absolutely at his best in this song...perfect ending for one of the greatest albums of all time.
even though I personally love aces solo on 100.000 years without adoubt. his solo on this song is unreal. Now I know why he is such an ICON
This song personifies KISS in its best years.
5 stars 👍✌️
The whole song is a solo for Ace! To me, if anybody wanted to know what Ace was all about, all they had to do was listen to this song. And for a little dessert, top it off with the very short solo on "Making Love". It freaking melts!
Kiss were pioneers, truly, they were good and they always gave the fans a show to remember - feel the energy on this cut!
KISS Alive 1 is the greatest live album EVER!
Totally agree. This is the best!
Atomic - yo
DRC was not recorded yet.
I saw them at the Flint IMA twice, the Palace, the Silver dome and the old Olympia stadium, I think Flint was the best.
I’m sorry, but I think you may have caught them elsewhere on this tour.
This was recorded at what is now the Adler Theater in Davenport Iowa.
You can hear him say “What’s Up Quad Cities!”
the live rock album of the century🤘💥🎸
Every song on this album kicked ass. Such a great time.
The best livealbum ever! Bought it 1976 after Destroyer and it stills blow me away everytime ive listen to it.
The band at the top of the world, and Ace shows that he is one of the very few guitarists who can build a great solo with only 4/5 notes.
Awesome Ace solo ,great vocals and drumsand Gene's bass?Wow!
👍💯
This is the kiss i knew and loved. At the top of their game.today's kiss is no more than a tribute band without Ace and Peter.
I'll never look at rock the same. Nov 7 1975. I saw the show.
Ace is the reason I started playing guitar as a teenager and at the age of 54 I still get that giddy feeling when I play. I love it. Thank You Ace.
This was my first KISS album, got it for Christmas 1976. Still have the album, still kicks ass !! Awesome song/Let Me Go Rock N Roll !!!!
Kicks the living shit out of "frampton comes alive " 👍👍
The thing with this particular track is it's honest homage to Chuck Berry, the party feel of his music, and the band's attempt at a "thank you".
I think it was a grand "thank you" and Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley should be congratulated.
Ace was the man here!
KISS ALIVE was the first album I bought. when I was 13 yo
I remember buying this album in late 1976 after I bought ‘Rock and Roll Over’ and listening to it with my headphones on blasting !!! This was one the best songs on the album!!! Ace killed it !!! Kiss was the band !!! All four members killed it !!!!!
Yes !!!
Rock and fucking roll!!!!!!
best version they did of this song too.
"Kiss loves you, rock n roll!!!!!!"
Great live song.
Thanks for the pictures too.
12 years old was the perfect age in 1975' for this!
One of the best rock n roll albums ever!!!
Seeing a picture of Ace playing an Explorer is awesome! But, of course, the Les was where he did all of his badass damage.
one of my favo kiss songs
This will never die.
It's a very cool song for the last song on the album very fitting
Ace became a god that faithful day
Aces licks were rudimentary but he played that fucker like it was his last day on earth !
My first album...fucking.awesum... still is
Nice job on the slideshow, Marcelo! This is The Real KISS. Thanks.
This song jams so hard!
The best version by far.
Elvis’ favorite KISS song!
As a 13 yr old kid from San Fernando Ca i walked in to my local pinball joint and heard this and my life was changed forever!!!
ACE just rocks, period
What a killer live album, what a mega great Rock'n'Roller as the crowning glory, what a super strong KISS photo show that you present to us!!! Many thanks from Germany!!!
that was peter screaming at the end. he didnt forget the city. he said "KISS LOVES YOU....ROCK N ROLL"
Exactly right
Exactly right. For an album they wanted sold internationally they didn't want one particular city name to be used on the album, they wanted to sound like a concert that could have been played anywhere.
i thought he said just rock and roll
Rock night.
Did you know that in this song @ 1:07 Gene says "c'mon quad cities" making it the only time that Kiss references what city they're in on alive 1 or 2?
I'm fixing too turn 46. I was jamming this in 1st grade. Knew every word. Saw them finally lol when I was 8 in 79. Original lineup. I will never forget it. I still go see them everytime they come to Nashville
the best of Ace Fehley!!!
When they all come together at 3:32,then Ace takes it home at 3:52;WOW!!!!
+bigroy38 Its a CELEBRATION !!! I LOVE this song !!!!!
Peter and Ace all over this damn song..... hell yeah
Recorded in my hometown of Davenport, IA., one of the Iowa/ Illinois Quad Cities. At 1:08, you can here Gene say, "Come on Quad City!"
Pretty much an ace highlight song
Great solo!
Kiss is what rock and roll is about the hottest band in the world that doesn't lip sync ever never did never will always live always real vocals
How did they keep him in the shadows ? They encouraged him to sing his own songs and gave him and Peter the stage to do their respective solos
and I loved every minute of it
my nr 1 song all times !! love it yeaahhh
Ace is a GOD
Elvis Presley's favourite Kiss song.
SUPER GREAT
yeah, this is one of the best KISS songs imo....the early years
Is Ace's soloing the most articulated, hooky and cool ever? I guess it is
Love the guitar on this song
Ace is a badass!
Most Bad Ass Award
The days!!!!
Three chords and a cloud of dust.
I just learned that Elvis Presley himself sat on a bed listening to this song and liked the song and Ace.
No other song could have finished the album.
alive was the best record that Kiss ever recorded!!!!
Listen to this musician Ace Frehley……..He can feel it
Great video! 🤘
best song on the whole album the guitar work was PERFECT!
The best Kiss ever sounded hands down!!!! The energy is raw and they never could top this. All 4 members were hitting on all cylinders. This was the anthem not RARAN.
Saw them at age 11 Davenport IA, Come On Quad Cities😎 first concert beat that.
That's a good guitarist, and band,

Wonderful! TYTYTYVM!!!
great early kiss !
alive! = top notch. no- band can touch em......end of story.....
While Ace’s guitar work is front and center and deservingly so, Gene’s bass shines on this song as well. 🤟
💯👍
Does anyone know who plays lead guitar on this song? .........oh, yeah, the most badass ever! We all love you, Ace!
Peter Criss's drums are the only true live part of this recording.......but this track just screams Kiss 1975 energy!!!!!
