- Didn't really planned on making this one, but it was quite a while since my last Sonic animation, and I just had to make something. So, let's look in depth of a mysterious hole.
P.s. The gun recoil has been lowered on purposely, to better show how calm Shadow is and don't care about what's happening. Realism is deliberately reduced in animations, this is what makes it so unique.

@@Supeerr Shadow in the games and probably the show owns a gun, he's shown with a gun in his first game, (and probably his *only* game), so it makes sense for Shadow to be in Tom's role.

Best part about this is that, unlike other characters whom I've seen this animated with, Shadow would absolutely just have a gun on hand in case he needs to shoot a monster.

This is very much what their dynamic is. With other characters, she's the "all nonsense" person, but with the rest of Team Dark, she's somehow the most sane and reasonable one. Love it.
To be fair, cinnamon roll edgelord and robot trying to be free.
Crippling depression (Shadow) and barely-restrained homicidal urges (Omega) tend to do that to you though.
You know, it's usually a joke when the famous video game character just pulls out a gun for no particular reason, but here it's on par with Shadow's brand.

Character choice, lip-movement and sync, character expressions, gosh even their ears move when they're especially expressive.

don't forget the lighting and shading in the details. it looks professional
This just made me realize how little the characters' ears, fur, and other minor details actually DO animate in the 3D games. Shame really because that's probably the biggest advantage of stylized, non-human characters is how much extra expression you can get from non-human parts moving.
Also the little detail of the mug having what looks like Maria on it
Extra points for putting Whisper in there at 0:48 with her falling down the hole immediately afterwards.

What I love is at the end it doesn't look like Shadow drops the disc but rather tosses it down and pretends it was by mistake.

Just can’t get over how smooth your animations are.. they’re both so expressive and lively and this is such a fun idea! It fits the characters in a fun way and it’s so entertaining!

I like how expressive Rouge is with the minor eye and ear movements.
A lot of animators really don't put enough stock in the value of ear movements in animal or anthropomorph expression. Typical animal ears have over 30 unique expressional positions, forming a universal short form language.
@@KiraSlith I tend to have the ears of my characters be expressive.
Granted that each ear only ever has 1 of 3 positions: up, neutral and down.
Both up - alert/surprised
Both neutral / neutral
Both down - sad/timid
One up, one down - confused/inquisitive
I usually don't have the ears twisted around due to the angles I draw characters at.
It's sorta hilarious seeing her lose her shit here given her normal sassy personality.
it's so weird how Rouge's voice fits here while sounding completely different than how she sounds in the game

I've seen so many animations of this, but this one definitely has the most facial and body expressions than any of the others. A lot of time and effort was put into animating this so well. Definitely some great work.
I gotta say I love how free flowing it all looks! Nothing looked stiff whatsoever! And yeah, Shadow’s fought a giant bio lizard, literal f*cking aliens, a villain that literally looks and speaks the exact same as he did, and broke his way out of an interdimensional trap designed for him to explicitly not break out of it. I can believe he’d be nonchalant about the hole

Shadow: Rouge, we almost destroyed the world by using a space colony, we fought a giant lizard who shoved said colony up its ass, fought a metal version of Sonic and its dragon transformation, stopped an alien invasion by using mentioned colony while having an existential crisis, traveled through time and stopped a sun god or whatever since I have no idea what Mephiles was supposed to be, i think i became a knight at some point, our dimension was literally torn apart and i started seeing double for a while, and finally fought someone who seemed to switch braincells for edginess. A hole in my apartment that seems to lead to another dimension seems like a typical tuesday to me and it was nothing compared to the time the world was literally split apart and apparently there was a dark god living underneath.
