    I advise you get a decimals to fractions chart. I'm not ashamed to admit I still use one. I worked in a wood shop for a while, and the old military guy that trained me in, had a chart up on the work bench. Lol he had a way of getting under your skin... And teaching you something while he was at it. That decimals knowledge is an awesome artillery in the wood shop. It would give you pinpoint accuracy in fractions so you don't need to convert to metric unless you chose to do so.

  • @cognitor900
    @cognitor900 5 лет назад +3

    Great build!!
    Take total width divide by number of spaces required (not partitions. Ie: yours was be 4 spaces not 3 drill partitions) then centre ply over each mark.
    So, say theoretical 360mm width.
    Divide by 4 spaces (to create 3 drill partitions) equals 90mm.
    Centre 16mm ply at 8mm and screw at 90, 180, 270mm marks.
    And you will have three partitions equally spaced across your theoretically 360mm wide total width.
    Hopefully that helps? Just forget the thickness of the partition ply and always centre them.
    Good luck with your new channel.

    • @ZacJones
      @ZacJones  5 лет назад

      That is a great tip right there, I'll just figure center next time I want some even dividers! Thanks for watching and I'm super pumped to get this channel rock in rolling!

    Zac, very handy! I've gotta make something like this myself! As for equally spacing, try using a few scraps of wood that are the same width (ripped easily on the tablesaw) for the 3 center spacers and then eyeball between both ends till it looks centered. Does this make sense?
    That's just an answer to your question...at least that's how I do it. Yours turned out beautifully and I wouldn't worry at all about it. I wouldn't have known had you said something!
