I watch Drew's video first, out of all the Starfield videos out right now, simply because I know everyone else is talking about the game. Drew however draws us right into the heart of the game, the spirit of it, making us part of the world. He doesn't talk mechanics or what you can do, he just inspires us, like all the other Great Explorers.
I love that Starfield gives us the best explanation to date of the origin of Pelinal Whitestrake... Star-Made Knight from the future...

We were watching the Challenger launch in class - they usually had the shuttle launches playing for us.
My teacher, who was watching with us, stood there for a few seconds trying to grasp what was going on, looking kind of like a fish with his mouth opening and closing.
Then, he trotted over to the TV (as fast as a science teacher could trot) and turned it off.
I don't remember what he said, I just remember the look of shock on his face. It's pretty well etched in my memory.

Oh, Mr. Drew, like most people, I have been looking forward to this game coming out. However, unlike most people who wish to play the game quickly, I am grateful for you and your "telling" of the lore that both preceded the game and that which has become a part of the game. While it doesn't help with the actual game play, it does help with the understanding of the game itself. For most of your viewers, I am hoping, this is just as important to the game play as the game itself. Thank you, Sir, for detailing this "telling" in your usual insightful way. I know I will understand what is happening (and what has happened) when I become the next 'explorer'.

I initially struggled to see the resemblance in the portraits, but I think you're right about Gagarin. And after a closer look, that British gent does look more like Cook than Nelson.

@@DrewmoraYTYeah, a google picture search shows a portrait of Gagarin that doesn't *quite* look like the one in game (he's smiling in the real one) but the uniform is nearly identical. Cook also seems more appropriate, while Nelson did some exploration, Cook was a cartographer - seems more topical. Anyways, great work as always, looking forward to getting stuck in myself.
I have very very purposely not watched any HeRe Is StArFiElD NeWs. I wanted my experience to be virginal. But, I knew that I had to watch this lore video. And I am not disappointed. Awesome stuff as always. Thanks Drew.

Yes the portrait is definitely Vladimir Komarov. He's wearing the same uniform as his same portrait in real life.
As always, a great video and the lore/story driven perspective is the one that always gets me invested - enough to actually get me interested in the game (and I am certainly more of an ES fan). The lodge is particularly interesting, since it seems to stick to the more sophisticated image of the past without following the typical futurist sci-fi design and I greatly enjoyed the talk on real life explorers, Shackleton’s mention was particularly a fascinating one, as I am currently finishing the last volume of his “Antarctica” set (“South” to be precise).

One thing I'm curious about in the lore is what they say will happen to the various human religions and their holy lands and how they evolved, like Islam and Mecca for example.
I may never purchase this game. Not for a lack of love for sci fi; I just can't enjoy most games these days. Very thankful for your excellent content and commentary.

I spoiled tye ending fir myself looking fir lore. I do hope dlc & creation kit cansje it much more interesting & fun. I heard nsfw mods got removed but hope get readded along with others everyone deserves to enjoy the game as ttey wish.

I’m just not interested in this game or sci-fi. I’m very happy it’s over with now though as they are now starting TEs 6. My biggest concern is if I’m going to upgrade my pc to run tes 6 when it comes or be forced into Xbox.

@@badluck5647 no they recently said tes 6 has started actual production now and from what I understand Starfield doesn’t have any planned dlc right now prob want to see if it flops first.

Why did drew leave Fudgemuppet? I like both channels (and prefer Drewmora because I’m more into the religion of TES than anything else) but I am curious and couldn’t find it out when he left.

This game looks JUST like no man’s sky. Is the gameplay any better does anyone know?
It's much more traditional Bethesda in its travel systems. The planet wandering is SLIGHTLY similar. But again, imagine skyrim in space (lol) it's more like that. Loading screens and all
Piloting in itself is more involved, as far as working ship systems and all that.
This game looks nifty... such a shame that Todd Howard insulted so many people by barring a release date for ES6 until this game. I stand with everyone who refuses to by this game or any content on it until Bethesda learns to not insult the paying customer.

yes, there is a whole thing for a mysterous tech and powers that have been in the releases. but they have kept it pretty quiet so learning about that story seems like part of the experiance.

Oooo boy I have some THOUGHTS. Firstly, deliberately choosing to not get involved in politics is **itself** a political act.
Secondly, and this ties in with the first point, I find it interesting and extremely telling that the aesthetic/brand image of Constellation are from the Golden Age of Exploration and the Victorian period, both periods of time when exploration was an extension of political regimes in the name of imperialism and capitalism. Having studied a bit about the Golden Age of Exploration and imperialism, the outcomes for the natives of the countries that were in essence, invaded, were **grim** to put it mildly.
Of course there were some explorers who were in it for good reasons and used their knowledge and new platform given to them because of their discoveries to uplift the communities they worked with, like the famous Dr. Livingston Drew mentions in the video.
But for every Dr. Livingston, there are exponentially more Christopher Columbuses. The type of person that sees exploration as a fast track to gaining wealth, power, prestige, and dominance, and who will do whatever it takes to achieve those things, including murder, rape, cultural genocide.
