I was doing about 80MPH, leaning back to gain as much speed as possible, my skiing partner was neck & neck as raced straight down the hill as fast as possible. I used to think: "if I go down at this speed it's all over". Undeterred, I felt invincible, moguls were to pivot high speed turns, my legs were buffed from the 6 hours a day we skied that crazy year. I never imagined the level of pain I would endure as I hit a chunk of ice that forced my right ski to overlap my left I crossed my tips, I went down hard and tumbled endlessly, my left binding didnt release and it sounded like a baseball bat breaking as my knee exploded, my leg twisting back and forth 360 degrees over & over again. I shredded my knee tearing every single ligament in two and snapping my ACL into three pieces. 5 reconstructive surgeries and 50 years later, I never skied again and my leg feels like it is twisted backwards all the time. I still to this day long for the thrill and over the top excitement of balls out downhill . I watch this run over & over................I guess I just want those that know what I felt to cherish every moment, live each run to the max and dont overtighten your bindings, or turn your shoulders from the downside of the hill................................ Life is short, play hard, and love long!
When you came to Arraba you could have gone to the most right gondola and go off at the first station. You would have saved a lot of time insted of going all the way up Portavescovo. Great vid
Great Video Thank you Bring back fond memories so glad we discovered the val Gardena area as well as Corvara , Alta Badia years ago . Your go pro ,is it chest or Helmet mounted .? Greetings from South Africa ⛷

What a crazy story. Sorry to hear you have such a bad accident. But good to hear you enjoy this video. Check out my other one on my channel!!
Thanks, I've been scoping all this from Alaska on google maps! So fun! Hope to make it one day.
Great Video, thank you. I was also at the end of January in Corvara. But this year is all cancelled an i hope to 2022.
Traumhaft schönes Skigebiet - da muss ich unbedingt hin. Vielleicht im nächsten Winter?!

Good tip for the next time!
That won’t make much of a difference as the large gondola is much faster and it’s more skiing.
Cool video! 🤘💪
Great video Kevin. We’re off to Campitello in late January 23. How long did it take you to do the round trip back to Corvara?
we started ealy i belive. And i was back before lunch. We are there also in the 3rd week of january again. Cant wait to be back!

Hi, I started in Corvara.
I would like to ask you when were you there, because I see that you published this video one week ago, but I thought the slopes are closed?
I was there this year in january. Unfortunately we cant go this year in 2021.

Hi, helmet
Most of it was far to steep and scary for an old beginner like me.
Nice!
