Designing a Simple Truck Chassis 🚛 First Look at the Easy to 3D Print CTC 01

- Introducing an all new 1/24 scale 3D printable RC chassis! The CTC 01 will soon be ready to bring your commercial truck models to life! Today I want to talk about the design of this chassis and what you can expect once the STL files have been released. The goal was to keep the design basic and easy to 3D print. While this has resulted in sacrificing some life-like design features, I believe the overall building and driving experience will remain enjoyable for many hobbyists. We’re very excited about this new design and I hope you all are as well! Certainly stay tuned for more updates, and to see some upcoming projects featuring this chassis!

Always love these 3D printable chassis projects! Thanks for watching everyone! Looking forward to sharing part 2 were I'll be going through the process of improving the design and doing some 3S "speed runs"! 😆 Any ideas or questions? Let me know below.
Really like the idea if having a heavy truck chassis. Will you be making just the front end available without the rest of the chassis, just the steer axel?
@@playanddisplay3636 The design is quite modular so you should be able to adapt just the front end onto a build.
For your rear suspension, look up the RS Series rubber walking beam suspension by Hendrickson. It would give a more scale looking suspension in the rear while still allowing you to keep the gear box and motor orientation you have. It also has the benefit of needing zero springs to keep the chassis at ride height, which should simplify where the axles mount to the chassis. The other nice thing about commercial trucks, the chassis are mostly the same between the US and Europe. So, if someone wanted a Mercedes or Scania, they can use the same frame as a Peterbilt or Mack.
Good idea, thanks for the info. 👍
oh! i've always liked the conversions, but now with semi's involved you've got my full attention!
very nice video, i started my own chassis for my own scale car and i am very inexperienced in both fusion and suspension design but seeing you do it gives me the will to continue onward on my own project
Awesome ❤
You absolutely nailed the Design on this. It looks so good for a Start.
So i build 1/10 scale rc, and 1/24 model cars....so im already sold on the idea.
But i have 100s, so i have to be careful or i will have $10,000 in rc stuff sitting here....i just happened to be building a 1/25 semi right now (local Walmart put many models on clearance for 13-20$, so i got like 10. Slingshot dragsters, pro street nova and Chevelle, 20$ for 1/25 semi and trailer, dirt oval track gto, and Fairlane 500)
It'd be awesome to see a car carrier for this, for all the other RC projects to ride on! Of course it might need more torque then
i love this idea, definatly going to be keeping my eye out for these
Love it! You finally pushed me to it, so now I have a 3D printer! Split cist with my oldest son, and we have enjoyed learning the systems. 😊✌️
i have an Orlandoo 1/32 scale truck, and adding the differentials made a WORLD of difference in the turning ratio
If you ever get around to it. A rc tractor frame would be really cool. Even if there’s no 1/24 or 1/25 kits for them
Edit: now that I think of it, with this frame you can make lots of vehicles aside from semis such as, motorhomes, boxvans/delivery trucks using smaller wheels, and busses all using this frame with some minor modifications
Really would want to see a Ford Ltl 9000 body on that frame
This is so cool . I could see useing this chassy for an scale optimis prime transformer truck build 😊
Hello from France. Very interisting project
I think this could be a really good idea to base on for a performance version like those Brazilian truck racers.
Next he should look at making a kraz or tatra style truck chassis
What RPM Motor are you using? N20/N30 motors are avialble up to 3000RPM, so as you said these are rated for 12v, but a 2S lipo on a faster motor is capable...
Would this work for a European style cab over truck? I love the (larger) scale trucks from Tamiya, but they’re sooooooo expensive and I prefer a smaller scale truck 😅
As long as the body is the same scale, it should work easily. The differences are minor between a Euro truck and an American truck as far as frame rails go.
To bad you can’t build a diff into the gearbox.
Do you have a video about the electronics set up?
Not yet though it's all generic stuff. I'll post all the details in a future update. 👍
That's cool as hell, but the chassis looks too short
Great initiative! But the drivetrain is not 3D-printable, but full metal
Whenever I hear "The/their design..." I IMMEDIATELY think of "THE DESIGN IS VERY HOOMAN!"... Oh man...
Found some 1/10 models costing over 10.000$.
