#Skateboarding #Podcast #Interview
Best episode yet. Jeremy Wray is a legend. I really don't know why he doesn't get mention when people talk about the best of all times.
I agree dude jeremy wray is one of my all time favorites hes skated shit dudes are still afraid to skate now and he made it look easy
Yeah hands down one of the greats.. I remember seeing his footage as a kid and rediscovered him back when this came out.. his style and gnarly factor are still legendary even to todays standards.
Robbed by the industry and companies. Bums me out, especially because he is so willing to contribute and work, not just ride the status wave or keep milking.
still got my ADIO beyond VHS and it holds strong
Fuck yes! Every one needs to thumbs up your comment
Skater Logic: I didn't have a plan I just wanted to build a ramp for my birthday.
No one is going to kickflip the water tower gap J Wray. No one is going to do anything over it again. Ever. You are in your own league, my friend.
Clive Dixon did the rail from a tower to another tower that was pretty buck.
@@MycoMatty that’s probably the closest anyone will come to matching the water tower Ollie
I've seen it in person and once you get up there it's insane
@@cheothegeo2742 agreed. And the Clive Dixon rail was not as gnarly as the J Wray water towers. Still super gnarly but the gap in between to two that J Wray did is just insane. And to think he had to jump across that thing three or four times whatever it was is crazy too. Again not taking anything away from Clive that rail was ballsy as hell. Just not the J Wray ollie that’s all.
that water tower story is that most insane shit I have ever heard...he tells is like it's no big shit.
a badass of the fucking highest order. makes 99.99% of all skaters new and old look like soft little pussies.
my hands got sweaty just listening to it
right? I cant even bare to listen anymore. I'm terrified, rocks, the part where he explains its even gnarlier without board. Oh my fucken god man.
Michael Cardoso dude I looked the trick up its fucking insane
Dude, imagine if you don't have enough speed or change your mind...hospital or dead.
Transworld not including J. Wray in the 30th most influential skaters = Biggest travesty in skatelore history ever!
Paul Kaiser when i started skating. Second hand smoke just came out best video part ever.
I agree 100%!
Jeremy Wray's Starting Point...
He's so good at telling back the stories. I felt like i was at the water tower!
the new generation does not know this dude redefined the word gnarly, a true legend, awesome episode, thank you Nine club
for whatever this is worth... i'm kinda of the new generation, but i'm not into much new gen anything. i like a lotta older era shit. seemed way more raw back then than wut it is now. when skaters had to be more innovative/crazy/or inhumanly persistent in the face of all the shit you had to take from people cuz skaters were not considered pro athletes with fuck loads of money. society was not nice to skaters. it seemed like if and why you skated, you were an outcast/loser to everybody else. at least that's why I gravitated towards skating. and you weren't drowning in an ocean of instagram/youtube skaters who can do everything but with shit styles and it passes you by as quickly as you saw it......... ok. rant over. thank you. go fuck yourselves 🖕🖕
Had anxiety the whole time he was talking about the water tower gap lol.
my feet sweating hahah
Yeah my gosh.. death defying
Hahah so did i
He's just a stand up guy. Great skater, honest person
This guys a real professional. Its sucks that its been rough for him getting older, his stories and the way he tells it is so good!!
Best one yet, respect Jeremy Wray.
definitely one of the more under rated, and still very influential skaters of all time. so sick, thanks 9 club.
Such a good episode, he seems like such a good dude and fun guy to have a conversation with
Please promise me three things:
- keep doing these
- keep this squad (chris, rog, kelly...)
- stay gold
Love watching these guys, and it's something I REALLY look
forward to every week.
Peace,
Kevin
Both Big Ben's.
GOld an Schroeder on the same podcast.
Needs rog
Always love hearing Jeremy Wray's stories. This was so good!
this is definitely, by far, the best episode yet. I say yet, because I know some how you guys will top this one. Amazing work as always. Jeremy's water tower ollie is one of the gnarliest tricks I've seen, and hearing the whole story about it had me sweating. Bravo.
jeremy wray helped me build a pillow fort in my living room. always been a good guy
Please for the love of skateboarding, make the Day in the life of Jeremy Wray happen.
I never knew who Jeremy Wray was growing up. I just always had his Adio's and just skated them. Then I started following his kickflip a day challenge on instagram and decided to check out his video parts finally. This dude is the ballsiest skater on the planet old and current. Love the story of the sidewalk gap and the water tower gap. I just wish I could of been around when skaters were discovering and testing the possibilities of street skating. So fucking sick. Thank you Nine Club for giving us this awesome content every episode.
wray talking about kickflips is better than any shitty ride channel how to videos ive ever watched
Jeremy Wray's Element departure story is a huge reason why I do not care for that company. I dig some of their current riders but not the brand/ ownership. I suppose that is stuff you pay attention to when your older.
Nick elements lame brand ..their brand save the earth when your riding a board torn down from a tree lol so stupid ..brands Come and go and now elements doing MLB boards , stupid
trees are farmed.. like corn.. they're not decimating old growth forests to make skateboards.
two2five5one1 trees take like 10-15 years to grow , some even 20 years ...they are not grown as simple as corn ..
huh? they're still farmed.. not sure why them taking longer means they can't be farmed ?? also, trees are grown more simply than corn... growing yearly crops ruin the land after multiple years so the soil needs constant treatment with nutrients and polymers... tree farming doesn't ruin the land like that nor require nearly as much irrigation.. like, it's easier to grow trees than corn (and wheat and soy etc.) .. not the other way around.
two2five5one1 the only tree farming I ever see is marijuana or x-mas trees lol ...
If you got Mark Gonzalez on the show I think I'd die
water tower gap story was so epic!! I always wanted to know the story behind it. I had to go back and watch the footy again. amazing episode!! love you guys! nine club makes me Mondays less lame :)
Element has a giant store at Universal Studios... I think that's all that needs to be said.
florida, its actually really sick i have been, not sure why dude is hating, you can go on a rollercoaster drunk as hell then get a new fucking deck, whats better than that?
Paying Jeremy Wray would be way better than that.
thank you.
hahaha!
sKyWIperzzz because that's not what skating is. Skateboarding has always been a counter culture to mainstream culture. You can like what ever you want but sometimes it just shouldn't be mixed. That's how we got skateboarding reality shows and watered down bubble gum punk rock
Jeremy is definitely one of the best to ever step on a board.
I can totally picture him as a very old man, he has this awesome Grandpa vibe.
I will also say how depressing it is to hear that even HE isn't exempt from getting dissed and screwed over by certain - very misguided - skate companies. Yeesh :(
The only thing more frustrating than hearing that someone as massively multi-talented (and positive) as Jeremy was treated poorly -- would be hearing the bullshit excuses of the people responsible for that treatment.
Best tre flip ever, the way he wraps his back foot up and around the board and just STOMPS THEM.
Almost 2 hours? you made my day!
F yeah
Seriously. If anyone deserves a 2 hour 9 Club, it's J Wray.
Have the water tower Ollie on repeat next to your switch manny
Thank you for this guys. Wray is and always been one of the greatest. Never forget the Color video!
so dope that you 9Club guys got Jeremy Wray on.. I mean you look up the definition of 'Next Level' and Jeremy Wray's pic is right there. Elite Skateboarder, fucking Legend !!
Thank you guys for not corn holing the show to a static time limit and just letting the conversation flow! Another great episode.
Wray is a modern gentleman and a beast all at the same time! Would love a marc/wray show thing.
You guys should get Bam on the show. You get really in depth in your interviews which is cool and there has never been an interview with Bam where it gets into detail about his actual skating career. The interview always focuses so much on the MTV stuff.
Please do have him back!!! I wanna hear more about his present and future.
How can anyone hit dislike on such an EPIC character?! One of the best episodes, great stuff!
Love learning skate history 🙌🏻
So good!! I would have been glad to listen to two more hours with Jeremy Wray!! Classy dude!!!
in my opinion one of the best episodes yet
The rooms looking better and better each week. Solid skate artifacts all around!
RIP Jonas Wray, I started rewatching this episode before I even knew his brother died
O.G..The Man since day one..Rode with Jeremy in 98 at Capalaba Skate park in QLD Australia. Legend and still the same humble honest RADDEST dude ever to ride a deck! LEGEND!
Kelly Hart is always such a fan, I love it !
Some of the coolest shoes I ever had wear those Adio Wrays! I think i was in 6th grade then, fat laces and fatter tongues were a must. set that shoe as my background screen saver on the home computer before i got black and red ones that christmas
What a time
it's hard to get more real than Jeremy Wray, sooo much respect!
So sad the wsy how Element treated one of the most influential skater of all the time :( That's one of the reasons why l will never use their products.
iuppi appa I had soooo many JW boards.......but agree....no more Element. They treated him so badly
This makes me want to support Wray Bros way more now
Get the Gonz, Dill or Fed Gall on the Damn show already!!!All three of these would be EPIC!
His carlsbad line with the es shoes is the reason I started skating es shoes again after years of just vans. When es brought the sal back, I just had to get it. So fresh and they skate great
Fun watching this again after 5 years. JWray is one of my favorite skaters of all time. I modeled a lot of my skating and trick selections after him.
Without even listening I can already tell: This one must be great!! Much love from Germany.
Holy shit!
What an episode!
Wray is so fucking gnarly. Beyond underrated, the dude has pulled off some of the craziest shit ever. Did most of it over a decade ago. Absolute legend.
Thanks guys.
Such an amazing and influential skater
One of the best episodes...so far
This is probably my favorite episode yet. I think Roger should help Jeremy put out a video about his life in the same vein as Waiting For Lightning or one of the other docs and put it up for sale on itunes etc. In my opinion Jeremy is easily up there with Danny in terms of the ground he broke and he's definitely had more of an impact on my style of skating. I would actually like one on Jonas as well. Maybe combine them and make it 1.5x longer. I ended up getting an hour of sleep before work because I saw this in my feed at like 4am..
this pod made my rush hour, thanks jeremy!
I was at the triple set at the Sports Arena recently for Disney on Ice with my kids. I was just staring at the triple set from the top and my wife was like what are you looking at? I said Jeremy Wray ollied it. Lol
His second hand smoke part is one of the best parts ever! EVER!
Such a good episode, wish this one was longer, or definitely need to have him back asap!
Jeremy Wray is the biggest inspiration in skateboarding!! Can't believe nearly 2hrs flew by 🙈 Great episode!
When I retire I'm just gonna sit around and watch One Step Beyond.
Jeremy looks like he could be Shane O'Neil's dad lol
do a day in the life with Jeremy Wray!!!
"only drinks the water from water towers", great credit for Kelly, legendary episode!
Jeremy was my first favorite skater. Started skating in 10th grade in 92-93. I had the (first?) 411 where the first trick is a slow-mo kickflip over a curb gap on a sidewalk. I was enthralled. I showed my dad. He said it was trick photography. I even sketched a pic of one of his backsides down stairs that was in a Thrasher. This was a great interview
Crob "Well you did the parkour over it. You did two tricks over it" 😂😂😂😂
Jeremy Wray is the man!
A skateboarder's skateboarder
True story
i actually had anxiety listening to the story about the water tower lmao.
I feel like I've been waiting since second hand smoke to see this! J DUBS Represent!!!!!
Jeremy Wray is the man! I'm really interested in everything what he says. Really great episode so far! Well... back to the video to watch the rest hehe :-D
This is the greates skate show ever made! Hands down. Thank you for this!
@@MartinKohoutekchannel hahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha hahahahahahahaha Hugh the on
I forgot how much information I have stored in my brain about 90's skateboarding. Trying to kickflip with your foot way over because of J Wray, while wearing a pair of Duffs, was a real thing. To hear the details and back stories now, is really really cool. Keep it up dudes.
That episode was ACE!!!
I usually press play and minimize my window and just listen to these at my desk and I just realized Crob has a loop of his switch flip manual in the background behind him. Fucking dying. Also J Wray is the gnarliest human being.
I bought his used board from him at the Tampa 2002 contest, and interestingly it turned out to be a spray painted Girl deck! He was super nice and sold it to me cheap. I still can't believe that ollie in the Color video. Highest respects to Jeremy Wray, an absolute legend!
Jeremy Wray's instructional VHS Starting Point is what helped me get into it: before youtube and when people were hyped on The Storm it was a great resource to have.
Jeremy Wray. This man taught me how to skate via a How-To video in about 1997-98. Also, like 10 years later I bought some White Adio Wray Legends and they were indeed legendary. Super Stylish.
Amazing interview, thxs guys.
Jeremy Wray is one of my all time favourite dudes to ever step on a skateboard. A true legend!
I didn’t realise just how much I like Jeremy Wray!!! You’re a beast mate.
Hey nine club, thanks for sharing links to what's mentioned in these episodes. I keep forgetting to say. Cheers! Jeremy Wray everybody!!!!
If you think about it every big gap from back in the day by now somebody has kickflipped it or done something, El Toro, UC Davis etc... No one has even tried fucking with the water tower gap. Thats why Jeremy Wray is a Goddamn Legend
Awesome video, Jeremy Wray is the man!! I vote for the next episode to be Kelly interviewing Chris, what do you think???? I want to learn some more about Chris Roberts!!
dude the way he pulled out those Guinness Rye's.... Wray Bros are G's
Mike ternaskys death rocked our world...I had know idea you were right there bro....thanks for the story... fucking gnarly...I knew Colin McKay' when I was young but I never heard the whole story...I'm 42..plan b...all good... Thanx Jeremy.
Im Learning so Much about skateboarding from These Episodes. This Has been long needed. Thanks guys
J-Wray's the fuckin' MAN!
The Starting Point was literally the first skate video I ever saw! Glad yall interviewed this guy.
LEGEND
Jeremy Wray was my favorite skater back in 94 when I was in 7th grade. Fast forward to 2017 when I was working at Albertsons in the city of Placentia, CA and this legend is standing right next to me looking for steaks to buy. I wasn’t gonna pass up this opportunity so I took a selfie with him. One of the greatest days of my life
Thanks Nine Club. Probably my all time favorite skater right here. Now we just gotta get Daewon and Reynolds to complete the (my) trifecta! You can do eeeet!
thanks guys. this was great
Man, hearing those stories about Element really puts a sour taste in my mouth towards the brand.
Shout out to me at 6:48, lol, Jeremy Wray is so good for always remembering.
The Nine Club legend part With Jeremy Wray
Watching the 4th time since it came out... Wray is such a talent and storyteller.
Keep up the good work. You guys have a good thing going.
Yesss!!! 🙌🏼
Just when I said to myself "what could I watch".
Great episode again, thanks guys.
Just re watched the tower gap and it is still fucking gnarly.
hahaha best picture
Watching these videos makes sitting at my desk all day at work so much easier. Jeremy is insane and really entertaining to listen to. I miss Adio so much. That was one of those brands I truly loved back in the day
